I just read the patch update details and it said that now you don't appear at the JIP until you move or one minute has passed. Will this make JIP camping impossible?

You are correct about jumping in to a system. I don't know about JIP camping considering they have nerfed the targeting to correlate to ship size.
Good example is that it took me 12 seconds to target a frigate in my BS even with all my targeting skills at lvl 4, Perception maxed out with ocular filter.
This should make it interesting with fleet combat with different size ships involved. Beats the hell out of seeing a fleet of BS's since that was the preferred method prior to the patch. ______________________

It would defenetly require more group tactics with different shiptypes to increase that targeting and warp scrambling ability.
One thing that could help Gate campers is the delay in align to warp and the time to gain half maximum speed, at least until the new deployable war disruption fields are available...

Is it just me or does the ship align before it uncloaks. __________ Capacitor research |

Edited by: Koda on 17/12/2003 15:27:30 I could see a tactic where campers use a frigate to "hook" incoming ships and warp jam them until the BS's lock.

I could see a tactic where frigates warp in, scramble/webifier the camping BSs when friendly BSs are incomming to elliminate them

I could see a tactic where a number of FoF cruise missiles quickly destroy a group of frigates, negating the slower bs lock time.

By the time you have killed the frigates the other BSs have opend fire on you. Losing 3 frigats to kill a BS is acceptable

I guess it'll mean that if people do still try to JIP camp some ships will get through and some will be unlucky - a definite improvement over the previous state of affairs where just about everyone would get caught.
With a minute to spare before becoming visible it should prevent all but the most dedicated lag abusers from making use of that tactic, so it becomes a race between how fast that frigate can target a ship and how fast the target can get to half its max speed to make it into warp.
Other frigates and shuttles shouldn't have much of a problem with this. And bigger ships can now make effective use of escorts by sending a frigate into a system to check it out before jumping.
So us frigate pilots now have a new opportunity for income, pirates have a new opportunity in allying/buying those selfsame frigate pilots to pose as reputable escorts, to scout out the ships it'll be most lucrative to stop, and to lead them into danger. And indy pilots have to think ahead a bit more and decide if they want to fork out big time for a reputable escort, if they want to risk it without one, or if they want to take on a cheaper, independant escort who could either be a freelancer trying to make ends meet or a lure for a pirate JIP camp.
I think it's going to make things a lot more varied and a lot more interesting. :)

This will be more RL, lets take this for example if you had an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean and you had hostiles everywhere. Without any naval support the chances of it surviving are 0.00% but if he had his naval support with battleships, cruisers then it will have a great chance in staying afloat. This brings all classes of ships to join together and fight together not like we had before when one BS would go out there and fight by himself those days are over. The future has arrived and it will take different groups of ships to work together in bringing down the enemy.
