Mei Jiang	Posted - 2007.03.04 19:49:00 - [1] As a member of a 0.0 alliance on several characters, I wanted to start a thread about the use of the tag "[dev]" in the ship names of members of the Band of Brothers. I find it extremely boorish and rude, that these players, who it has been made known received material assistance outside the scope of normal game play from a member of the development team of CCP, would flaunt this in front of the rest of us. I would like to see ccp do something about it. yes, I am aware that I could send in petitions for each person, but that would involve spending an absurd amount of time and personal risk researching who did or did not have their ship named this way, and it would be a private effort that would probably be ignored or swept to the side by members of the GM community. I wanted to bring the topic up in a public forum, and allow other people to comment on it.

It may be a response to peoples allegations of developer misconduct (Which has already been proven), but it's in rather poor taste, and technically is a violation of game policies. Quote: 5. While not a direct statement of "I am a dev" it certainly could come under this clause.

If I was bob I would be naming my ship "courtesy of CCP" why?... well why not? it winds people up, and as someone who is very much against BoB in game, I would LOVE to see a wreck with that name. if you really care that much, and see a ship with the [dev] tag..... call them primary

Actually some of my ex-corp mates are/have been in BoB/DICE. I know they are nice guys, we've had lots of fun for some time and they play the game as ligit as most people. Some of them were quite rich before they went there, inclusively owning a bunch of tech-2 BPOs. The only thing that makes them different to the regular whining newbie is that they are in BoB and that they have been playing for an eternity in 0.0 ( corp was founded in 2003 and that was probably also the year, when some of them went into 0.0, pvp'ed and made isk in Syndicate, Delve etc. and later in the old Stain Alliance. Btw those, who went there, were our founder, ex-ceo, mining director and diplomate, so not some random players. ) If i consider that BoB is almost a 2000 member alliance and they have been attracting and recruiting more experienced players from all over the EVE universe over months and years, then I don't need some weird conspiracy theories to explain their success so far. Imho their members are just normal players, who joined BoB and want to have fun. It's similar to MC and Outbreak and similar successful groups. Those alliances/corps surely also attract a lot of experienced/advanced players and oldtimers. So well, I let others do the anti-bob ranting. I don't care. They can do what you want, like flame the devs, quit, whatever, I have some trust and confidence and go on with playing EVE, no matter how many whine and blabla. I'll do that no matter if BoB wins or loses. ___________ Muuuhhh !!!
