Any advantage to this? My Crane comes out of the box at 9.0 AU/sec. Is there an advantage to this in any way?

Gets you places faster, which in turn means you can put more distance between you and people who are chasing you, or if in an interceptor, gets you closer to the person your chasing. ------

I am tempted to take 2 of the 20% warp speed rig, and put it on one of the fast ceptors. So even if you see a guy warp off to a gate, you can turn, align, and beat them there.. which would be very cool. ;P

To the two previous posters: Please, only do that if you're fighting against the Coalition in this war.
Anyone who puts anything besides speed rigs on a tackler needs to stop trying to PVP :-/

Does warp speed even work properly right now? I noticed that if I have a Thrasher (2.9au warp speed) and a Jaguar (5.9au warp speed) both aligned and warp them together they will enter the same warp bubble and stay together the length of the warp. Shouldn't the jaguar steadily pull away if its warp speed is twice as fast?

If you're referring to gang warping, the gang warps as fast as its slowest ship. --- Yes, I enjoy being an ********. No, your opinion doesn't really matter. |

Ah, thanks. Thats handy to know.
And that is indeed why my Jaguar and my Thrasher warp together.

Well I would say the same, for someone who jumps 40 t2 frigs into a camp of 80 and loses every single ship with no kills.. but that would be rude and off topic.

It would be offtopic as well as an incoherent and false attempt at a flame.
At least I posted something worthwhile in my comment.
The single most important thing for tacklers is speed, speed, and then some more speed.
I would rather have a single 15km/s crow than ten 6km/s crows with 20% faster warp speed, and for good reason. Inty base warp speed is already far higher than anything you're going to ever catch before warp, so why make it go faster? Anything frigate sized will get away no matter what, and anything bigger you already warp at least 3 times as fast as.

however, not all inties are created equally. Of each race there are two 'ceptors, which are markedly different in role. take for example the minmatar inties. There's the Claw, which warps at 9 au/s if i'm not mistaken, and that ones' for fightin. Then there's the Stiletto, which is quite bad compared to the Claw as a fightin ship, but it has a role: T2 shuttle. With its 1.5 au/s base warp speed it gets you across space insanely fast. Thats where the 20% warp speed rigs come in. Pure sweetness. T2 shuttles have saved my bacon and implants more times than I can count. Only riding the clone train goes faster. However, I still think EvE needs more and better tactical warning sounds.

It'd also be a lie.

warping fast is useful, but since time to accelerate to full warp speed and go back to sub-light speed remains the same, it's only handy for long warps, you won't feel much of a difference over a few AUs ...

warping fast can be very important, for instance there is only the interceptor that will out warp you over a distance, so if you are being chased by anything else and you get into warp before them, effectivelly you should be able to stay ahead of them indefinatelly if you have enough agility and istabs to match their get to warp speed.
I THINK that all ceptors do 9au (i know the ranis does) so effectivelly provided you can get to warp fast, you can outrun anything over a series of jumps, more so now there is the warp to 0.

Warp speeds as I recall them:
Fast Interceptors: 13,5 AU/sec Stiletto, Ares, Malediction, Raptor
Covert Ops: 13,5 AU/sec Cheetah, Helios, Anathema, Buzzard
Slow Interceptors: 9,0 AU/sec Claw, Taranis, Crusader, Crow
Blockade Runners: 9,0 AU/sec Prowler, Viator, Prorator, Crane
Don't know about the Deep Space Transports.
T2 Frigates (excluding those mentioned above and Stealth Bombers): 6,0 AU/sec
T1 Frigates: 6,0 AU/sec
T1 Industrials: 4,5 AU/sec
T2 Cruisers: 3,6 AU/sec
T1 Cruisers, T1 Battleships & Stealth Bombers: 3,0 AU/sec
Freighters: 0.7 AU/sec
Capitals: Not known by me.

Generally, you spend the majority of your time accelerating and decelerating. Faster warp speed only noticeably affect your time for travel over large (50++ au) warps.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

I put a warp rig on my hurricane so it wouldnt slow down cruiser gangs that I join. Works well...I think. Cause its a ***** to tell if it does anything. ---------------------------------------- Friends Forever

Hover your mouse over the lower quarter moon/speed indicator on your HUD while in warp. It'll show what your speed is. Try a 30 AU plus jump and you'll definitely see if the max is higher then normal with the rig Vs without. Normally should show 2.9 to 3 AU/sec. With a T1 warp speed rig should be 3.5 to 3.6 AU/sec.
