Tribune Maximus Caldari moon7empler Dusk and Dawn	Posted - 2007.03.07 02:31:00 - [188] the roots of this conflict lay back til the ec- incident, even a bit farer but those are most likely ego problems and personal ressentiments of a few people who completly shoot their own out of honor and duty - and in fact it was their own fault because they not more fullfilled their position like they wished to. after the ec- incident d2 got formed out of former TRUST & G corps. as the new alliance moved to branch, Steel Vipers said the come too in about two or three month. after that time they just left and wanted to go their own way, which was clear for them already those two or three month earlier - some said sad, some said dont hold people who are on journey - we even moved as d2 to help them as they had problems to hold xzh by their own. because out of former reasons G was for all something special so we made that move. we expected nothing for it - as the question between rise and youwhat/STV came we simpel kept neutral because both were blue. thats the fairest we could do. so the comment that d2 backstepped STV might lay in the view of the beholder - but for d2 it was an clear fair decision between two allies. this really as neutral as possible said from an d2 member.

I'd doubt D2 would of "made" them be friends with Goons. The Goon nap was just strategic at core. But maybe it might become something stronger in the light of these events. Certainly the new all grown up goonfleet with its libertarian mission and 'mature' outlook on diplomacy is in a position to work with D2 for some really interesting changes to 0.0 politics. Its just a shame that at the end, YouWhat will likely be sitting in empire as outsiders looking in.

D2 + IRON can take the honor for knocking out the goons in that war. RISE where NORAD + some other dudes I forget who , from fountain. Im not sure the other guys history, but NORAD where the long time outer ring guys, and where temporarily displaced when the goon machine stormed in. I believe the story is that the Goons suprise attacked norad to take outer ring, then a pos sov mess up gave them a chance to try and take cloud ring, so the goons decided to take cloud ring instead. Understandably NORAD where probably more than a little peaved at the goons suprise aggression, and whereas NORAD seemed to have some shortcomeings (as well , in fairness, of an understanding of the fact its almost impossible to 'lose' npc space if your tenacious enough) I imagine they figured the RISE alliance would address them. Im not sure why they moved to the south with BOB, but Im sure a rise guy can explain that bit of history better than I.
Tribune Maximus Caldari moon7empler Dusk and Dawn	Posted - 2007.03.07 02:48:00 - [198] for me personally, even me as d2 member could say now its more or less backstapping what STV did with their behaviour during the time as D2 got formed, it was more always an situation of gentlemans agreement not to attack each other. plus the fact that BoB was always the big hated but respected enemy, the great opposite side. completly apart of the BoD situation, its really amazing in a sad way how people break with their values - but this happens as time goes by.

With LV losing their economy that front shifts closer to delve (where im assuming the LV remnant will bolster BOB forces). This upcomming presure on the BOB home regions lessens the need for a northern presence, potentially allowing for a stronger "Home Guard" for D2. Its all assumptions ofcourse but i am a bit supprised why this has attracted so much attention. From what i understand its more about bad blood than a need to renounce any (percieved) troubling threats.

Athon Mar The Greater Goon The OSS	Posted - 2007.03.07 03:45:00 - [208] History: * NORAD lived in Outer Ring. * Goonfleet, lacking a quality enemy ( the trash in syndicate didn't count, they were too busy playing with themselves in the Y9G deathspiral station ) decides to have a campaign in Outer Ring to beat NORAD to death. * NORAD gets beat to a pulp, torching a freighter that had most of NORAD's assets in it, but Outer Ring is kind of a crappy region except for moon mining and the 10/10 complex at the end of some 18 jump pipe that BoB runs like clockwork with accounts that are logged out there. Other than that there are like two decent systems and whats left of NORAD barricades themselves into them. Around this time, they merge with something else and become RISE. * Goons fly around. There is no love lost between D2 and Goons at this point, because newbie killing superstars from D2 like running around syndicate with stabbed out thoraxes and stroking themselves over all the rifters and punishers they get to kill. (No hard feelings, really! Gank squads in syndicate is what helped make Goons into the rabidly frothing citizen army they are today.) Eventually some drunk run around north party ends up in ZXH and shoots at the station for laffo. * The station takes damage, Goons realize that soverenity is not in place and the invasion of ZXH and Cloud Ring are underway like an hour later. * D2 doesn't really want ZXH, they were just trying to turn it over to YouWhat. The ability of goons to get in there was strictly a snafu on the part of the soverenity switchover. Nevertheless, D2 feels honorbound to support YouWhat, who can't hold the system against Goonfleet. * A month of POS warfare, AKTIVATE SCHIELDBOOSTER, recharging POS shields at 3:00 local time, dreads-a-poppin and POS-a-bustin takes place. The central problem being that Goonfleet doesn't have a dreadnaught fleet of their own, so even though they want that system so bad they can taste it, they are stuck with mercenary dread forces and the few capital ships that Goonfleet members possess... Its not enough to knock out all the POSes in the system, and Goonfleet doesn't have the resources or the will to actually "buy" the system. * The war goes really well for Goonfleet at the start, but once D2 shows its willingness to buy the system and erect POSes much faster than Goonfleet can knock them down. * BoB decides to get involved by wardeccing the Goons during the final weekend of the ZXH war. Goonfleet's support utterly evaporates, because BoB is oh-so-scary and Goonfleet withdraws, because they have to go back to syndicate and throw endless rifters and merlins into the guns of BoB's fancy ships so that BoB will get bored and go home. * BoB eventually gets bored and sees something shiny and leaves Goonfleet alone after a couple of weeks. At this point stuff happens up north in ZXH that Goonfleet doesn't have much to do with involving RISE and YouWhat. Goonfleet lost all hope of taking ZXH because BoB made it clear that any expansion by Goonfleet was going to be met with another threeweek camp-a-thon of syndicate space. Faced with no expansion to the north, no expansion to the south and empire to the east, a universe that really disliked them for no good reason, they turned to support the only alliance that was also in the same disliked position that also happened to be very very far from BoB: the Reds. (Oh, somewhere in here LV decided it was a good idea to send ganksquads around syndicate and erect a PoS in S-U and hide a cloaked carrier in a deep safespot for weeks at time. Now you wonder why Goonfleet is so thrilled to watch LV crumble....) The Reds and Goonfleet found they got along just smashingly, and you can witness the rest on the territory map. I can assure you that Goons in general are just pleased as punch that YouWhat has decided to cross D2. They couldn't hold ZXH against capitalshipless Goons without D2's help, what makes them think that they are going to hold it now? I mean, YouWhat was losing to RISE of all people...
