I just lost my Drake, which is fine if I had any saying in it. But the blockade missions is so laggy, I jumped in lagged til I had only 20% armor left, got out.. repaired and jumped back in, this time everyting froze til I had about 15% hull left... lost my Drake..
Aomething has to be done about that mission. my puter is totally up to par.

Patition it, you'll get your ship back.
One of the tricks for this mission you can try is to warp to 100km in your pod, take a bookmark and then warp to 100km of the bookmark in your Drake. This seems to cut down on the lag and when you do come out of lag you shouldn't have any damage

huh. My puter stats are pretty similar and I have no such issues, have even done the lvl 4 version which has even more of those uber-lag-causing-nebula cloud things. In fact the only diff between our setups is my cpu is an A64 4000+.
Have to wonder about a few things...
What rez you running in? Do you have FSAA turned on? ..if so, what setting? Do you have AF turned on? ..if so what setting?
Basically tho..if you are running a resolution higher than 1280x1024, then you best turn off FSAA and maybe only have a little AF, if any. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then nm.

I've done levels 3 and 4 on a far lesser computer then what you're using. GeForce4Ti, 512ram, 2.2mhz, obsolete 20gig clunker :P
Open up your task manager and see what's eating up all your goodies :P

Never had a lag there. Probably you should take care not to kill the BS trigger for the next spwan. Just clean up spwan by spwan. The BS with the highest bounty last ... always. I use 2x Sensor Booster II because of jamming, as I remember right.

There are no BSs in the lvl 3 blockade?
Turn off sound, zoom out. I have never had any lag on lvl 3 blockade (vs guristas). --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many |

Ah ... I recognized: Blockade ... and I was thinking about the l4 version because it's ages ago I ran my last l3.

Edited by: Andrue on 09/03/2007 10:18:47 Never had any lag there either. Until early this week I was using:
AMD64 3500+ NVidia 6800LE 1GB RAM
I've upgraded it a bit this week but it was fine before that. I deliberately pick off the triggers first because I like a challenge and doing that in the L3 tests even a T2 fitted Raven
I would check with your ISP as well as checking your system but I can tell you my experience with upgrading because I didn't do it all at once:
NVidia 6800LE -> NVidia 7900GS = My worst case fps (Pirate Invasion) is now 15fps not 9fps.
AMD64 3500+ -> AMD64 4000+ = Overall 10% fps boost. I get 95fps at a typical Empire gate with Concord and a few player ships.
Onboard RealTec -> Xi-fi sound card = Sound no longer causes a significant drop in fps.
Conclusion:During the height of Pirate Invasion with all the ordnance going off and with as many of the structures in view as possible as I get 20fps. Previously I'd be down to 9fps. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Edited by: Loc Maythan on 09/03/2007 11:39:12 I've never had any serious lag in Blockade level 3, despite playing EVE on a 1.6Ghz laptop. If I ever get any lag in missions, I turn my POV to the emptiest bit of space available, and fly on instruments (overview). As mentioned, avoid triggering the waves until all but the trigger ship have been destroyed, and you may get overrun.

It's definitely not a graphical card related issue. Not like his FPS dropped to 0.0001, but rather client froze which seem like a network related problem.

They should just add an option to remove the graphical interface, it'll just be a wire grid with red, white, and blue boxes.

So? It will boost FPS from lets say 10-15 to 100+, but it have nothing to do with actual game lags.

Try to increase Buffer size in your prefs ini (Buffer=80). Defaultly its 80MB and increasing it up to half your memory or max 512MB can help remove some lags.

Never had a problem with lag in that mission on a lower-end system than that.
Probably the node lagging. Were you doing something stupid like playing in Motsu/Saila/Jita on a weekend?
I've had lag issues in Essence region today, and that's not as badly overpopulated as the Caldari hubs are.

Had the same problem and also lost a Hurricane in this mission a couple of days ago. Since I'm runnig EVE on a fairly new system (bought back in december), I really don't think that this is a system issue. For me, I think what actually "lag killed" me was the fact that I triggered to many new waves, making me end up with +15 ships against me.
So warping out/back in was no problem at all, the "lag", "freeze" or whatever startet when all of those ships started to lock me at once. Did the mission again in a new Hurricane after DT and this time I kept hostile ships around 10 max = No "lag" when warped out / got back.

If im not wrong not only the system is important but the surrounding systems , if one of the surrounding system is a busy one and is on the same node then you experience the same lag . Im rarely in empire so i dont experience much lag . Solution , move to low sec or 0.0 :p -------------------------------------------------

I just started this mission today , 1:30 before daily shutdown , and the lag was impossible , the first time i went there , i warped 50km away , i was able to take on some of the ships , but when more came fast , i had to warp out , now everytime i try to come back , 100km away or whatever , i dont even get to lock on anything , i lose shield armor and hull before i am able to get out of the lag !!
i have a VERY fast internet connection , and a very stable computer , and the lag seems to be only in that mission :|

Sounds exactly like my own try a couple of days ago ;) This is really an issue, but it can be avoided if you just keep the number of enemy ships on a good level. Most "Trigger Ships" are those who are only present once. So if you have a ratpack with e.g. only one Tribunus and five Praefectus NPCs, kill the Trib after the Praef and you should stay around 10 enemy ships (max) and you'll be fine when warping back in.

We had the same happen to us. A fellow corp mate spawned three waves simultaneously so two of us come to give him a hand. In all, 3 BCs. All of us experienced serious lag jumping in and when we had our controls back we lost a BC and the other had shields almost gone (on a shield tank). Local wasn't busy. Very very annoying.
Not to mention how annoying is the lag you get then all of them decide to lock onto you at once.

As someone previously stated, it has nothing to do with your comp, even when sometimes some people come up with the lame excuse of a fault in the client's hardware to try to explain why things just don't work.
The problem's related with mysql, and the amount of data transactions Eve experiences per second on a normal day. It's been addressed by users before, there's been a very good and long thread about it, but CCP just doesn't care. For you to have an idea, Oveur showed up in the fourth page of the thread and said they were going to keep doing exactly what's been deemed as useless: throwing hardware and more hardware at it, showing no one neither read it or wanted to pay attention to it. Thus, I stopped following the thread right there.
You see, you're not the only one with that problem, which happens when you warp into a room full of rats that *will* aggro at the same time (generating lots of sudden transactions, pretty much like when you dump a crapload of stuff into your hangar, or move stuff around your containers). I do have this problem, too, and my comp is way beyond Eve's required or recommended setups as well.
So it's up to you to decide buddy, 'cause as long as they keep using mysql lag won't disappear. They'll just keep spending fortunes in hardware upgrades and wondering how come it ain't fixed, and of course telling people to move out of crowded systems... So far I haven't lost a ship to lag but such an event would seriously put my will to stay at stake.

Try that link, a couple things there might help take out the intial lag. It's helped me a fair bit. As for your specific problem, it sounds like it's more of a memory issue more than anything else... you may want to take a look at pagefile sizes and the like, seeing as you have plenty of RAM.
Or it's just MySQL, as said above.

Either your trolling, or you don't realise the EVE db runs on Microsoft SQL Server. my guess is the former.
