Went to help fight off Moo, jumped into the A2 system since I will be cloaked long enough to warp to the rest of the group even though the gate is camped by moo. Except my ship wasn't cloaked, I don't understand how their 7 BS locked me in 1 freakin' second and my Apoc was pounded into dust, along with my pod.
DO NOT COUNT ON THE JUMP CLOAK, it does not work like the patch notes say it should. Well at least most of the time it does, but when you really need it to, you're screwed.
Lock Times: I tested it out, corpmates' scorp with signal boost took 8 seconds to lock my Apoc... Moo took about 1-2 seconds. WTF? Corpmate had Signature Analysis lvl 3, I don't see lvl 5 of Sig Anal making 8 seconds into 2. So I don't know, maybe Moo did a bunch of agent missions and got some tech2 signal booster.
So before you go PvP you better watch out, make sure you understand all the changes that Castor has made AND all of the bugs that could screw you at the wrong moment.

On the lock times: M0o has proven before they know how to do their maths . Good for them . _______________________________________________________________________

Edited by: VeRbLe on 19/12/2003 02:52:09 LOL well actually i locked you in 4 seconds but i guess it took you a few seconds to load so it looked like 1 second, btw if you jump in and try to warp it uncloaks you and i can scramble you while your aligning so it doesnt matter if you wait out the 1 min cloak without moving or try to warp.
However if you had been in A2 before today and not logged off there is a bug where you jump in uncloaked, happend to us when we jumped in to fight you guys

When we (the "carebears") said this while Castor was being tested, most players jumped at our necks saying it was fair.
Well, guess we will replace six with half a dozen.

What lag? I was on a DS-3 and a P4 2.53GHz, 1GB RAM and a very fast hard drive. GF FX5800 Ultra, I load in very quickly on that system, still I could see a COUPLE of seconds going BUT I didn't start to warp until AFTER I had jumped in, I was warping to a gang member so was not on autopilot. At least my other ship made it out unscathed.
4 seconds, HTF did you get a 4 second lock? Sig Anal 5 and TWO sig boosters?
For the record I don't believe M0O cheats, though it has been observed they use exploits when they are available and I for one am convinced they are in fact CCP or GMs, or both. It all adds up. Hey, if I worked on a MMO with PvP I would have done the exact same thing. Knowing the game inside and out and frustrated because you work on it = take it out on the customers

a) connection speed doesnt matter - its capped. b) your ship needs time to allign. you can be warpscrambled while your ship alligns. c) we had the same thing happen to us when we jumped in, 4 of us were visible.

I have Sig analysis lvl5. With one Supplemental CPU Scanner Array 1 on a Scorp my lock time is about 3.14 seconds.
The lock time is totally ship dependant.
BS locking frigate- sensor has to focus making it take longer approx 6.87 seconds with same setup.
BS locking BS- sensor doesn't have to adjust as much to define the target. 3.14 seconds.
Its possible and geez with two of those boosts on and a couple low slot ones. I got that time to 1.22 seconds with plenty of slot for jam gear.
Insurance is a good thing.

OMG but what if they had fitted more than one sensor booster? SPLOIT!
You do realise prepatch peeps used to fit FOUR sensors booster if they really wanted to lock fast, right?
Right? |

3 or 4 sensor boosters?
No way, never happened.
If you got nailed cuase you were uncloaked upon loading, that does suck.
Ive noticed that you jump into the system 6 different ways so far.
1-You jump in and are at the Return gate cloaked.
2-You jump into the middle of nowhere uncloaked.
3-You jump into the middle of nowhere cloaked.
4-You jump to someother gate not on your Route if using the AP. Uncloaked.
5-You jump in 12km from the next gate on your Route Uncloaked.
6-You jump in to system at the Return gate uncloaked.
Pick your poison. At least its more random than before. You gotta give it that.

Edited by: StealthNet on 19/12/2003 11:55:20 *Without* the cloaking, your ship is there *before* you can even see your own UI. Anyone can start shooting before you even have the right to click your MWD, no to tell align.
Now tell me this is fair, and that they both have equal chances. As someone already stated, around 20% of the time you will popup in the JIP uncloaked, defenseless. Thats *my* opinion and from some players here (I think). We try to put arguments up from every point of view, then, maybe, just maybe, we can draw some conclusions from it.
Then some insightful player comes here and say "stop crying", you are a whinner, a carebear, a griefer <insert your fave "insult" here>. Man Im so full of these forums.
This is the same kind of behaviour you can get everywhere in the game. Respect other's opinions, and if you can't say anything useful, keep your mouth closed, go read a book, another thread. Try to make yourself a useful existence at least. If you don't have the "words" to make your point, refrain from trying to make fun of people, or make them look ridiculous.
Only this tiny move would make the forums readable again.
About the gameplay, if CCP wanted the game to be about *only* PvP it wouln't have any kind of production, research, trade, mining, etc etc, whatsoever. It would be something like Chaos, where you go, pickup the modules in the hangar, and go outside to fight. Hopefully you all will be flying TL2 ships in some weeks due to the hard work of these players.
Even on chaos, there is NO respect for rules. The BHs and GMs already lost their fingertips from typing so many times that you should read the chaos rules on the patch review forum.
still, every single time I go to chaos, there is a bunch of smart @ss players fighting each other just outside the FC station.
Altho there are lots of members of the community that can actually come here and express themselves in a really understandable way (you may or may not agree with them, but at least read their posts and try to understand how to make your point by writing your own post) the signal-to-noise ratio makes it useless.
Remember: disagreeing with someone *does not* give me the right to insult or make fun of him.

If ypu jump to system for the fist time after loggin you will be cloaked and near return gate. But if you jump to system for the second time you will be at the point where you where last time and NO CLOAKING. Well as you all see the gate<-->gate jump system is not working as it should.

How about you calm the f**k down and read what she wrote, she wasnt accusing you of cheating, its a bug that EVERYONE has, you dont always jump in cloaked even when you just jump in and sit still, hell someones I jump in at the wrong gate or in the middle of nowhere.

We are aware of a problem where after a jump you sometimes come back to the point you were in last time and we will hotfix that, but we haven't seen a case where you are not cloaked. If you catch such an event with a log, it would be nice to get hold of it.

Intoccabile I'm afraid in this case you did not jump in uncloaked, but instead uncloaked when your ship started moving for warp alighnment.

I have an idea
Maybe the devs should spend a little time playin on TQ...
I guarantee it will happen to you at some point, its happened to me atleast once twice a day. Infact with regards to this post, i jumped in to fight the CFS people, much to my surprise i find myself Uncloaked, targetted and underfire from 3 bships.
Its a serious issue that needs addressing pronto imo Sass Arcane Technologies |

I also had a stuck problem when I jumped. I had my evemail up and I writing a message. That took about 1.5 hours and my mission only had 45 min left. heheheh
I agree that sometime you jump cloaked and and land uncloaked. It might have to do with the speed you are arriving at the jump gate????????? I would MWD and kinda bounce of the stargate and sorta cloak when jumping and I would not be cloaked afterwards. I see this not as a problem cause with speed uncertain things could happen. I have had where I jumped to my logon station instead of my jumpgate exit. --------------------------

Intoc:
DON'T TOUCH THAT DIAL. Jump in, stay freakin' still and don't activate a thing. If the gate has hostiles, then you should (after at least 10 seconds) attempt to warp to whatever is directly in front of you. With luck a planet or moon will be there. You'll do the Back to the Future thing and have to accelerate to X speed before you hit warp.
As for modules you'll have to be fast. Turning on AB or MWD will make you visible. But i was not able to turn them on AFTER choosing warp-to, even though i need to accelerate in normal space to half of top speed... makes no sense.
But anyway. Minimize your alignment time. Or make a break for the gate back. Or surprise the hell out of everyone by locking nearest target, breaking cloak with that WEET WEET WEET would be amusing. You'll get blowed up, but at least y'might make someone **** themselves
