Out of curiosity, can someone give me some estimates on how much a 2mil sp miner can make in 0.0 if he is with a proper corp/alliance. I've been mining low-ends in high sec for a couple of months now but for the time I spend mining the profits are not that great (1.5-2 mil isk/hour) I am thinking about joining an Industrial corp in 0.0 if I can find any that will except my newbertness but I don't want to make the transition for a mere 2 mil more an hour. I can use T2 strips and fly a covetor or a hulk. I have no drone skills atm though. thanks.

after your average station refine %'s but before tax it works out around...
Crokite Retreiver: 12.5m p/h Coverter: 19m p/h
Arkonor Retreiver: 16m p/h Coverter: 24m p/h
Bistot Retreiver: 13m p/h Coverter: 20m p/h
Dark Oarch: Don't bother
these figures are pritty rough and assumes zyd prices at 2k, megacyte 4k not sure how realistic that is but as a general summery i'd say "Crokite Sucks"
Hope that helps even if it might be a little off

Weird of you to say that, seing how you can easily rake up to 3 mil/hour or more in a Covetor with T1 stripminers, just minimal skills needed... and go closer to 6 mil/hour with a Hulk+crystals and implants, in a fleet with an out-of-the-box prospector. And that in a 0.7 sec system or above, just focus on pyerite-heavy rocks. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

You can say "well, you'd do better mining scordite all day", but fact is, there's not always more scord to mine. It doesn't take too many high-sec miners to mine whole systems entirely dry...
(not saying there's no relatively-empty systems in high-sec, of course. But not enough that everyone can go find one of their own!)

If you want to make money mining in 0.0 you have to do the following:
A) Get a mining ship into 0.0 B) Be prepared to handle 'big time' belt Rats. C) Be prepared to handle 'big time' PVP'ers D) Get the ore to a refinery (pay Alliance 10% fee) C) Get the mins back to Empire.
If you can do that then you earned any money you make. Good luck.... ---------------------------------------------------

You can make A LOT of isk. Of course shooting lasers at rocks is lame and I will be the one who finds you alone doing the aforementioned in my zealot. That being said, you can make a killing selling mins in 0.0. All the big alliances need a strong industrial backing to sustain themselves (Someone built my Zealot afterall, as such they made a TON of isk off it.), so really a good miner is pretty versatile. Just make sure you have friends. Good for rats and pvpers.

I can make between 5,000,000 and 25,000,000 an hour in 0.0 depending on how many times I get interrupted by rats.
If I have someone running security, its more. If I get someone running security and a hauler, its WAY more.

Never tried it. Armor or shield tank? Surely a shield tank can't be run forever. --

i havent fit a mining laser to a ship in a long time but i heard people were running rokhs with eighter a passive shield tank or else using faction small/medium shield boosters _____________________________________________________

8 Miner IIs drain 12 cap/second. An XL shield booster drains at least 72. You can perma-run an XL booster on a CCC rigged Rokh with not much trouble. Fit a large shield booster (36 minimum drain) and you should have more than enough cap to perma-run the tank with ease. Mileage may vary depending on fiting/cap/tanking skills (you want as many mining upgrades as possible). _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

Edited by: Jehovah Cooper on 12/03/2007 03:42:56 Read the mining guide linked above. One very easy thing, that anyone can do with hardly any skills is a mining domi. 6 lasers and permatank is very possible with less than 20m in fittings. Mostly it makes sense to mine in a group and have a tank and mining barges. Find a quiet system and mine and refine in a POS and you won't often be interrupted by hostiles. Stay aligned and watch local and they won't gank you. The easiest way to get started of course is find a corp that is already setup to do this, has standings or belongs to an alliance etc.

Extract from the mining guide:
Quote:
4.1.2 The Apocalypse This nice golden banana (sorry) can fit 8x T2 Miners and 3x MLU (you will need 4x Co- Processors II for this to fit though, and you’re left with 18 cpu, so no space for a tank at all). [...] In short, the Apoc gives a 20,95% improvement over the Domi.
4.1.3 The Rokh The Rokh got released with Revelations, and it is without doubt a nice battleship. It is even nicer when you know it outmines the Apocalypse since it can fit an extra MLU, for a total of four, while having still a bit of CPU to fit a medium shield booster, or perhaps shield extender. If you wish to keep only 3x MLU, than you have PLENTY of CPU to fit a very good tank. Do not forget the drone bay (you can have 5x T2 medium drones in there) for extra protection. For the need of this guide we will use a full mining Rokh setup, but you should know the Rokh is superior to the Apocalypse in every way as a mining platform.
There you go. Either same yield as close-to-no-tank Apoc but with insane shield tank, or 5% better yield and a moderate tank. And both significantly better as Dominix. But Dominix is much cheaper. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |
