local was at about 120 including 12 hostiles carriers and 9 dreads. About 1 minute before BOB arrived the hostiles carriers and dreads started to warp away. I then warped to the gate as friendly forces arrive. Got stuck in a bubble and lag got pretty bad, then heard that one dread didn't get away so being the killboard ***** I am I went back to help finish of the dread. After the dread went down I returned to the gate and friendly forces were wrapping up the remaining coalition forces. local climbed to about 230 at the peak. Local has dropped since but local remains quite a smack fest.

sad day for coalition
There is a big difference between a POS going into reinf and a POS being destroyed
However I cannot comment on the freighter, maybe it was another alliance.

After the PMV incident, we moved to VNGJ to close that system so we can knock down some POS's. Our scouts reported a decent size IAC gang in AZN and I think it might have even moved to E-PROS, but not sure. We were waiting for you to come in, but I guess you turned around. We had about 50-60 on the gate waiting and reports said IAC had 40-50 I think. Would have been a fun fight. We had other priorities though than chasing you guys. Maybe next time when we don't have to guard capitals.

here we go again. if you aren't sitting on your ears or maybe just plain and simple dumb you might have seen irony in that post. I was looking map and wondered why 100 ships blew up. And asked on forums, you can either tell us all why, or you don't have to tell us why. In case you don't wanna tell us stay the hell out of this topic.
now after all this reports, and taking that BoB apparently don't post on forums, and taking that there wasn't a battle report from coalition side id say there wasn't one because they either didn't win the engagement or they suddenly consider 120 v 120 fleet fight unimportant which i find hard to bellive after all previous battle reports of killed carriers etc.
so again, if you don't like it don't reed it simple as that. To be honest you guys posted a thread in a hurry about every win would make you look lot better if you post report on un decisive battles or defeats as well. And would cut my time on work :))) reading them ofc :D

while it is true that there is no proper write up on the battle in the large scale it wasn't a key battle in the New Eden War it was just BOB proving that they keep their word and showed support for the residents of feyth along with RISE and Executive outcomes. They killed a dread and saved a POS, removed a gate camp. Shortly after they left the system was once again locked down but a few hours later it was opened up again due to the fact that GONADS and DS-1 operate on slightly different timezones making it hard for both forces to have large numbers on at the same times

*waves his 'I was there' campaign ribbon*
The lag won, as usual!
I was in a heavy caracal. Scout said bob was jumping but local didn't spike.. then everything went to hell and froze. Unfroze, locked multiple targets. Hit all 5 launchers, the scram, and the target painter.. and nothing. Hit 'em again.. "Attempt to activate module already underway" blah blah blah. Noticed that the number of missiles remaining in the launcher was dropping every so often by 10. No damage messages, not even in the logs. Tried to warp to the POS for about a minute while everything was frozen. Finally warped to the POS in my ship, arrived in my pod. The game then warped my pod back to the gate, unprompted. I arrive at the gate in said pod only to be locked and clobbered by multiple BS's (and, to be fair, frigs..)
FC did a good job, not sure what really could have been done differently. From my screen, hostiles were uncloaking over 150km from the gate, well out of range of the large bubble. Bob won the lag lotto but the fight turned out pretty even.
Screw walking in stations. Don't hire more devs, hire more *censored* programmers and database admins so we can play the *censored* game!

Originally by: Gungankllr I'm not sure that I completely respect "Jumping in" on somebody anymore.
From everything I have gathered, when a node crashes, the people ENTERING system have login priority, followed by people IN SYSTEM.
That's why BoB always jumps in on people, and why they always win the logon race on a node crash.
There is other things that mitigate logging in faster, but that's one of the top items.
Doesn't really matter though, nothing is going to change so why complain.
Haven't seen this pity whine since... hmm, that's a suprise... ASCN fell. |

But nice fight :)
He was lagged and according to you he had at least 5-7 minutes to relog but didnt? He just sat there and died?

How would relogging help? He would just stare at logging screen for said 5-7 minutes. Like i did once i got CTD.

Lag was bad but not unplayable. This was the first engagement for me in this size and i have to say it was amazing.
I had problems finding my Primarys though (I got them sortet and grouped) but some ships jsut wouldnt be on my scanner when they got called.. So i just took shots out on those i saw. At some points of the fight all that got shown on my overview was pods... explaining the undecent high amount of those i grilled. (Had to refresh overview alot to get rid of those)
Personally i managed to go through 2 reloads of my guns (425mm II) which was decent seeing that some of our gang didnt manage to get out a single shot onto the enemy cause they couldnt lock anything. And from what I read the problems were consistent on both sides. Fast hardware 4tw.
From my perspective I have to say FC did a hell of a job and the enemy fleet did good aswell.
Thanks for the fun and the good fight.

Then don't complain.
and btw your coalition was the one attacking the POS and we were only jumping in to defend them so if you don't like it maybe you should be the one jumping in next time.
But yeah the lag was a BIG problem. I was trying to lock a guy for a minute or two, and and even if i had the lock my guns won't activate as well. But then the node seemed to hold.
Oh and then the fighters. The enemy supports thought that it was a great idea to put about 30~50 fighters on me. Not sure how many fighters on me but the fighters managed to miss the shots for long time, but in the end i got popped. (Not sure if the enemy supports were cordinating, but I suddenly found myself faced by yarrrty numbers of supports + fighters.)
ps. good fight, but I just hope that there's less lag in the future.

What i dont understand is why server lag seems to hit differently different people.
Hmm, maybe a solution would be to enable turn based combat in EvE. Once node feels that it can not provide enough CPU cycles for people to play with out lag, EvE enters turn based mode, e.g. one side shoots, then FC hits "end turn" button, then another side does the same :D

Some differant reasons people experiance differant types of lag: Connection speed and type, Distance to the server, Computer spec's, proximity rendering, "distance to other players in game" **** downloading while playing.

Mabey part of it, but there does come a point where its just down to the game itself not always being able to handle fleet battles. I'm running a very fast pc on a good connection and parts of that fight were just about unplayable for me (sat looking at locked targets for 2 minutes while none of my modules would activate, attempted to warpout and just sat there and died 3 minutes later, the famous 4 minute locktime battleship to battleship due to lag).
One thing the BoB gang apparently did was a mass logoff and logon in the system right next to our camp (we think, intel was a little spotty). I'm not accusing them of "zomg node sploitz" since I think they did it to clear thier cache, but I dunno, mabey that helps.

Originally by: Admiral Seafort Edited by: Admiral Seafort on 11/03/2007 00:41:52 The dread that went down was completely lagged out and totally unresponsive. That is why it couldn't leave with the rest of them.
Fleet sizes are roughly as reported; about 120 on each side. Respect to hostile fleet for jumping into our camp. Friendly fleet was heavy on support and light on firepower; hostile fleet composition not evident, but BS seemed to be in greater supply for the hostiles.
Cross-checking known involved parties' killboards gives:
15 combined hostile (BoB/EXE/RISE/etc) BS down 10 combined friendly BS down
Assorted support on both sides, including 2 friendly Command Ships, were also lost.
After the fight, hostile fleet held station and gate briefly before leaving. Friendly fleet cleaned up stragglers and random hostiles. Subsequently control of PMV-G6 belongs to Coalition forces.
Congrats. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone on EvE-O say "we lost more ships but acheived our strategic objective." This type of think is actually a quite scary turn of events if you stop to consider its full implications.

I can assure you that there was no mass log off and log on. We high tailed it from VNGJ straight to J-T and jumped in. We met the BoB fleet a couple jumps out of PMV and as soon as we hit the PMV gate in J-T, some quick orders were given and we jumped in. There was no time for logging off and logging on. I don't really know what the point of that would be.

the reason we appeared 150 off the gate was coz when we jumped in we all got emergency warped off, as it took about 5 mins to load the system, also when we warped back to the gate it also took 5 min for grid to load while we were moving away from the gate. |

BOB and Ragoon need to unite against the evil dev empire and force them to fix this code. Did you guys know that the entire game is run from the processor + ram? Although it recognizes that shiny new graphics card you are using, it makes no use of it's features.
