Yeah so I recently re-subbed to EVE a month or so ago, after a year hiatus, and I was slowly going through the EVE Online Youtube channel, and I found a video on ship dirt. I thought this was pretty cool and logged in and jumped into my 4 year old vindicator that has been sitting in station for 1 year and there is not a single spec of dirt on it. I have been intensively using it since then in Incursions and nothing has appeared? I have all the settings on the game maxed out and I am wondering if there is a hidden feature somewhere that I have to enable to be able to see ship dirt?
Am I just being a idiot or something? -»\_(pâä)_/-»
Any help is appreciated.

Dark ships don't really show dirt well. I'd go as far to say some ships don't display dirt that well at all. (looking are you barges and exhumers). |

I cleaned my ships today. On my Vargur (=brown) i didnt even notice the dirt until i cleaned it. On my NAPOC (=white) you could see the thick layers of dirt from like serveral AUs away. |

How do you go about cleaning your ship in the fitting window? I don't see anything on it.

The first time a ship is loaded (after the feature was added in December, 2015) it's set to a "clean" state and it accumulates dirt from there. Since you had taken a year off from Eve, the ship in question hadn't been loaded after the feature was added until you renewed your account and logged on, so at the time you inspected it, it was clean. You should start to see noticeable signs of dirt accumulation after about a week.
Unfortunately, ships that were in the game before the feature was added didn't contain any record of their assembly or manufacture date, so they all start out as clean on their first use after that point.

Try to find dirt on a very old Minmatar ship.
I bet you won't notice them at a glance. You have to really, really squint.
A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

What? Ship dirt is a thing?
I returned to EVE 2 months ago and never knew this! This is so cool! (Unless this is some kind of really contrived, CCP developer endorsed troll...)
I don't think any of my ships have lived long enough for this to happen maybe? |

Fye'16 wrote:Does changing the SKIN on a ship clean the dirt off? Or does the dirt stay until the 'clean' button is clicked?
I believe that changing the SKIN should not reset the dirt, only pressing the "clean" button, or repackaging and assembling again.
