I wasn't sure if this was a petitionable offense. And if so - who should be petitioned? Leaders of the alliance that owns the website?

If that picture is true then it's illegal as it's a modification of the client which isn't allowed.

Technically, that's not a modification of the CLIENT but of the locally generated cached data. So, again, TECHNCIALLY, it's not automatically a breach of the EULA. But it can be under the "if CCP says it is, then it is" clause. It's like suing Windows users for Microsoft EULA breaches because they customized the "My Computer" icon manually or something like that. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

It's a wiki, more likely then not unsecured and somebody is just trying to deface the Goons by making it seem like they're cheating by adding client modifications to their site.

Its more likely to fall under CCPs "We're too lazy to do anything about it" clause... much like the rampant account sharing going on.

Still comes from their domain which is under their control thus they know about it.....

Changed what? It is the same wording as before the previous Goon client modification, as was quoted then too. Check back on those threads if you want confirmation. |

Goons had a "useful" modification like this too, where they would replace the character portraits with standing icons. The case was investigated and some kind of action taken. ..But 6 months later this became a feature in the game. Something like this latest hack that makes it easier to identify ships would be nice. I feel odd that I have actually memorized almost all 200 of them in the game.

Really? So say somebody came to your house while you were at work and defaced it with, let's say, pro-**** propaganda. It's your house and it's under your control, should you be arrested for this if you're in a country that prohibits such icons being used?
Really, some of you have no clue. The date is obviously censored in the screenshot, now why do you think that is?

As for that modification its clearly against the EULA, nice but against it.
EDIT: Guy above me: LOL? Its a private wiki, buy a clue please.

lol according to everyone ive seen post nodecrashing isnt "technically" an exploit because the EULA says something like "you cannot cause undue stress to the Server", not "your fleet"(even though you are exploiting the weakness of the server structure which to me says exploit.... or what I thought the meaning of exploit was).
Yah, this looks like a BAD GOON type thing.
But whats it really matter? At this point, Id be amazed if someone showed me proof of a big 0.0 alliance NOT cheating...

Because the poster is worried that their IP will be traceable, and a crossmatch on the Goon forums would reveal their identity? Just a guess. |

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 12/03/2007 18:20:01 Goonfleet's cheating again, what a surprise!
CCP will probably do the same thing they did when Goonfleet last cheated, or when Red Alliance exploited for 8 trillion free ISK.
(read: Nothing at all)
And yes it is an exploit. A similar cache modification was done a while back and was declared by CCP to be an exploit, but as I said, they did absolutely nothing. Apparently exploiting is only wrong when enemies of RAGOON do it.

No, the perpetrator would be charged in the case of vandalism. Totally different story in the online world.
When dealing with online estate however the rules change. You see there is this little thing called 'due-dilligence'. If you put something up with no protection, you are at fault for the damages that result of not doing anything to prevent being used as a source. These days with all of the media attention, publications, vendor support, etc, one cannot claim ignorance about informaiton security issues.
And yes I am qualified to speak about such things, whereas you are obviously not.
Next.

Um, nothing at all?
They're being bandwagoned by 30+ alliances. I don't think any BoB allies have ever backed what the Reikoku directors did.
But when GOON and RA cheat, their allies back their cheating and respect it.
Apparently its perfectly fine to cheat for trillions of free ISK and hack the EVE client.
Please stop defending people who cheat as an alliance-wide policy. Its not funny, and its not helping anyone's credibility. And if such cheating isn't a big deal; where's my 8 trillion ISK? I mean, its not much right?

My entire point is that its not, yet people constantly defend it just because its their allies that are cheating.
I didn't see a single person, ever, defend "BoD" for what the one director of Reikoku did in spawning T2 BPOs. He was wrong, certainly, and CCP was wrong in not dealing with it as harshly as they should have.
But every day I see dozens of people on the forums saying that its perfectly fine for Goonfleet to hack the EVE client, and that it was perfectly fine for Red Alliance to cheat themselves 100 titans worth of ISK. Such talk is absolutely pathetic. Cheaters should be reviled, named, shamed, and banned, not glorified.

Yeah but you are quiting anyhow so this is somewhat a mute point in your insignificant world.
Or did you find someway to have it relate to your situation? Let's save you the trouble and let you know that you are still incompetant at gameplay.

Obviously the really nice bits of information had been removed from the Wiki, otherwise you may have posted this.
Goons sharing accounts
LOCATION __________ LOGIN _______ PASS ____ CHARACTER NAME
RENS ...............RE**** .......vb** ......Patrik Swayze FRULEGUR ...........FR******** ...vb*** .....SteveN Segal KONORA .............KO****** .....vb*** .....Marilyn Chamber N-RAEL..............NR***** ......vb*** .....Georgina Spelvin N-RAEL .............NR***** ......vb*** .....Nina Hartley 28-QWU .............28***** ......vb*** .... Tracie Lords PUZ-10 .............PU***** ......vb*** .... Johnny Leo U2-28D .............U2****** .....vb*** .... Stacie Valentine
If CCP were to check the IP addresses of the accounts that had logged onto the characters named above then against the "actual" account IP,how many goons would be left ?
btw gott love their choice of names tho

I did erase the time of the last modification of this wiki entry. As you can clearly see, the date stands at 07 March 2007.
Also, the number of time that page has been accessed is over one thousand.
Finally, I don't "censor" stuff. I'm not Goonswarm leadership. See our forums and comments like "Snip - no dissent allowed."
So... Who should be petitioned?
