People are going to go WTF at my fit. It works.
6x 650mm t2, 2x assault t2 1x MWD, 1x 20km disrupter, 2x Large Extender 2x gyro t2, 2x inertial stab, 1x nano, 1x pdu t2

Edited by: Mortuus on 15/03/2007 19:08:14 Actually, the cane is better at arty and ac's, but thats not the point.
Because you can orbit a BS at range, avoiding things like webs, while still doing full damage. You can pop smaller ships (interceptors, haulers, af's, dictors, etc.) easily before they get within their tackling range.
Can AC's do some things better? Yes, can AC's do everything I want to do, no. Why Assaults? Because they still tear down frigates (more than one wannabe tackling ceptor has found that out) and add that little extra whack vs bigger stuff. Its an extra 200 damage or so every 7 seconds.
The other nice thing, is you can get a brace of 650's for less than 10mil, and a 5.6 RoF with a 13.5 damage mod is still not something to sneeze at.

Easily, I'm moving at 2500m/s away from them, and turn to lower the transversal. Its something you learn to do after flying Minmatar for a while, always watch transversal.
I've popped many many small ships with arties, and many large ones as well. The only ones that are hard to escape, are things bigger and faster and fast locking. So very few enemies.

Not on purpose no, but its a thinky type of ship, and you need to keep manuevering to fire at lowest transversal.
Though I suppose its more complicated than ACs to kill small ships, it still works. Just because people think it won't, doesn't make it so. I ran off a Nanophoon, Stabber and killed the Raptor that was tackling for them earlier today. Can a good ceptor pilot evade the guns? Yes, are there many of them out there, no.
Also, where your AC setup gets webbed by a Huginn/Rapier and dies, mine does not =)

I prefer 720's in gangs, something about 19 damage mods.....

Edited by: Mortuus on 16/07/2007 20:46:24 You have no idea how many inty pilots do not have half a brain.
The other thing that helps is the 5 ECM drones I carry. But I love my 650mm speed setup, kills command ships pretty good too. Obviously it shines vs cruisers (t1/t2) and BCs (t1/t2) more than against smaller ships.
I took down a Raptor, Deimos and Eagle in one 3:1 combat without my shields dropping below half. She's a good ship if the pilot knows how to fly and what to avoid.
I also use 425mm sometimes instead, good fast DPS in a gang. If anyone is wondering about how much, 524 raw DPS with EMP and HAMs. Add in drones and about 616 dps. You still move 2.5km/s and have 12-13k shields.
I tend to run shield buffer setups, so my rigs look like EM resist, Agility, Speed.

Edited by: Mortuus on 12/10/2007 16:03:52 Just a little nudge for the "Vagacane" though its speeds aren't really high enough for it to use the name anymore. Perhaps I shall call it the "Spank-cane"; obviously speed and gank.
6x425mm t2 (why, because they do hurt more, and I can still hit an orbiting ceptor), 2x Heavy Missle Launcher (Because sometimes you just have to be able to hit something farther than 24km away)
1x MWD t2, 1x Disrupter t2, 2x LSE t2 1x DCU t2, 2x Overdrive t2, 3x Gyro t2
Rig it as you please, I prefer some Falloff, a little tracking, and a shield EM resist.
With my skills and hardwiring, it hits 747 DPS with Hail and Drones, but the 616 DPS with EMP.

Actually, shield extenders do work.
You just need to fit for speed, gank and shield buffer.

I find that both work just fine, if you can fit them do 425s, especially for those long term flights (saves a ton of ammo, more room for loot). Both hit fine, one does more damage slightly. Hell, I get wreckings of 800+ with my 425mm t2 firing EMP.

Its actually pretty easy, if they are solo let them get comfortable and move away, OR if they have friends coming pop ECM drones, laugh and warp. Though I am wondering how you have a sig of 27 with a MWD running.

Recent setup change that has been working very well, especially with the rise in ECM use I am encountering.
6x425mm t2, 2x heavy missle 1x MWD t2, 1x Disrupter t2, 2x LSE t2 1x DCU t2, 3x Gyro t2, 1x LADAR Backup t2, 1x Overdrive t2
Rigs: Ambit Extension, Aux Thruster, EM Shield

For a gang with EW, try my AC + shield + gank + speed setup above. Works quite well.

Seriously, for Arty the only setup I use anymore on a Hurri is this
6x 650mm t2, 2x launchers of choice 1x mwd t2, 1x disrupter t2, 2x LSE t2 3x gyro t2, 2x Overdrives/nano, 1x DCU t2
rig to taste
Works a charm, not bad DPS for an arty boat, range is just about perfect for killing those short range setups fairly quickly. Occassus Republica <3 |

How bad are your skills to NOT be able to fit a full 650mm fit and still have PG left over?
And trust me, 650's work much better vs Rapier/Huginn than ACs do once you are webbed. Occassus Republica <3 |

With some crafty handling of my spaceship I've managed to peg ceptors, and kill a Deimos and Beagle at the same time, killed an Astarte solo with it, countless Ravens, forced a Sleipnir to run like a girl, etc.
650mm arty works, and it makes Rapiers that do less than 5k or so cry. Occassus Republica <3 |
