Dude, they just said they'll give us the OPTION of walking in stations...I think it's pretty cool.
And it's not like they said they'll introduce frickin' elves _______________________________________________

Do not expand the game in silly ways that would make it like any other game out there.
Please let me have a game where i dont have to walk a meter by foot to find an agent or my bank or the auction house or any other similar uneccecary things like that.
On every other game out there you are walking on solid earth, play that, or play both.
Now how is EVE ever supposed to look like this if we don't have stuff on planets to shoot at? Or How are we supposed to chill with our homies at the Pleasure Hub if we can't walk around stations?
I mean... duh.
Just kidding. Don't go mental.
I think CCP needs to do this in order to expand their playerbase. Many people can't get into the game simply because there's no avatar to identify with. My only concern is can they afford to expand their playerbase. The servers are often falling over as it is.

Lag in Jita....
Well It wouldn't surprise me if the walking on stations was handled by different servers then the space servers. If I am walking in a station what do I care who is in local space and how would I know. Maybe an interface at a terminal to see who is out there. But if you are in Station and OUT OF YOUR ship you have lost local COMS as far as monitoring people in space.
That means you would not show up in space local either if you were wondering around the station. Now if you were docked just like now nothing changes.
Simple and NO lag

I think it fair to say, it's not exactly the choice and option thats the problem for a lot of the vocaly against it crowd... more the fact people are getting something they actualy want, and there's a resentment against that among some people.... it's a standard set opinion you allways see on this forum.. just about everything nice introduced (pos's/outposts.. captial ships ect) has allways been met by the vocal crowd with chants of dismay that the casual players of eve might be getting something nice to play with.
Im all for socialy interactive stations myself (adds much needed depth to the game.. if indeed things like casino's and bar's find there place) But i can drop you two reasons from the top of my head as to why people might resent the enjoyment that could posibily end up my way and the likes of those thinking like me.
A) you have a reason to stay docked, while be entertained by the game... something you can't currently realy do. B) while doing so obviously there's no pixelated ships being taken away from people, while ofcourse they sit in the station with you.
Ill do it for you, and remind you that eve is a PVP game (i use that term in the sence of ship to ship).... ofc if there's the opt out enjoyment away from that inside a station for people.... well as i said in as many words in my first paragraph..... ______

1. What Kaalen said.
2. CCP have said multiple times that walking in stations will be optional, the current way of playing will still be available.

Clear enough?
hehe Will downloading that foul program be OPTIONAL? No? Then count me out...I already cut down to this last account. When the patch comes out, (Hopefully) I will have enough warning) I will cancel this account.
The first thing that will happen is:
1. Jita IV-V will become the laughing stock of online games. 2. Youtube will have a video of a bunch of Amarr's doing a line dance. 3. Soon as you REMOVE all them hoses and wires, and step out of the pod...your hear, "JITA'S BEST Casino!!" "WTS ----!" "Tech II kitted Megi LFG in 10/10 plex!"
So yes its nice, but those items above will draw the wrong crowd to Eve-online....I dont want to play another EQ!
ok so you can see the future ? Why cry about a feature thatr hasnt even been seen as yet ?

In Earth & Beyond I could get new clothes, a new hairdo, and a custom paint job on my ship with its name (R5STB5CK2T) stenciled on the side. Plus, I could ogle (male) Terran Navy pilots. We weren't all power leveling to 150. In fact the game folded when I was at level 147
I take the OPs point, that players who are enjoying what they have now shouldn't have stuff imposed on them that they don't want to do. However I do want a sense of immersion and wonder which I have to say E&B had more of visually than Eve, for newbies at least.
So please don't whinge about walking in stations, planetary flight and economics and politics, all that stuff, just as I don't moan about CCP wasting time on things that don't interest me, like POS building or delagging big space battles.

I came to eve from earth and beyond and hoped that aspect of EnB was in eve eventually. But its been stated before, if you don't want to walk around in stations then don't. Its not a requirement.
I saw a video of the eve walking in stations somewhere and it looks good, would be a nice addition to the game just for looks and a more interactive feel.

I'm not too bothered about the inside of the station, perhaps the thing I would like to see would be a more interactive and tweakable fitting system. The camera roles around to the part you are upgrading, you can see yourself adding propulsion mods, cap stuff etc.
It wouldnt need change how we see our ships in space, no need to create more lag, I agree it's "fluff" though. Don't get me wrong I'd rather see existing issues fixed first.
Habitable planets though I think could be excellent, PVP is far too limited to gates and camping stations only. If we have a reason to fly to planets there is an opening for a multitude of player activity. Exploration, space races, fights over territory, attacks on planetary structures and bases. ---

The game isn't going to turn into wow because you can walk into space stations. Wow and eve are completely different games because they have entirely different focuses.
Wow focuses on simplicity and fun factor with very little risks or consquenses and everything controlled and regulated out of the players hands.
Eve is exactly the opposette and focuses on complexity to give players as much to do as possible. Anything worth doing is done with considerable risk, and the world is completely controlled by the players.
If you think the ability to walk around a space station is going to change the very fabric of the game your seriously overreacting.
To put another way: Wow is like Candy land and Eve is like Monopoly. Thats not to say one is better then the other just that they have a completely different focus.

I've all but stopped playing Eve during my precious little gaming time. I've contimplated, after more than two years, of stopping altogether because of some of the huge gaping holes in the game mechanics that have been there forever, not to mention the new annoying problems.
ALL THAT HAVING BEEN SAID...
The possibility that we might get some cool new features inside the stations and planets that we can actually USE are the only two things that keep me around. Well, that and the fact that quitting would be admitting my wife's accusations of wasted time are correct. And I can't let that happen. Marriage is all about who's right and who plays Eve.

Edited by: Blane Xero on 14/03/2007 18:04:45 My main worry, is the blow this will take to the pplayerbase, it may attract the wrong type of player if there is adult content being added, people will be forced to leave due to age/religion/personal belief's.
I Say no to adult content, (no i dont mean like having a beer and stumbeling back to your ship, i mean exotic dancers, gallente females, etc)
I know a fair few under 16's who play the game, would be a shame to see them being forced to quit by ther parents due to a new feature when they have played for pretty much a year, i mean we dont need adult content anyway, thats what wifes are for isnt it? that is what they are there for isnt it?!?!?!?

Who's "we" ?
I really want it :) In all honesty I'd like to walk around - heck, I think it'd be awesome if we can have our own customized corporate office and meeting halls etc.
Besides it's all optional. If you're put off by this because you have to download it, I can honestly say I don't sympathize, because at that point you're just being moronic.
