I predict more ship skins!
I also predict VR going down like a lead balloon with most EVE players. Yes, a few will embrace it but the majority will go....'meh' |

Serene Repose are you that old? I'm up there pretty good but I'm figuring on maybe another fifteen years, still functional for about ten but you never know.
Five years is too narrow a window, think about twenty (I'll probably not be here) but if somebody comes up with a life-span expansion pill then what I'd like to see is still the lawless sandbox populated by the descendants of the feral bunch we have now. The difference will be the UI, something like a hardware cockpit that can be purchased for a grand or five. The price is not excessive, I could buy a small car with the money I spent building the three high end computers that make my alts hump. Think something like all the gear many of us used in Microsoft's flight sims, but with VR somehow fed into the wraparound, curved monitors/screens with throttles, weapons, all that handy and arranged in a super cool fashion.
And hey, you never know: Remember that book, or was it a movie? The one where a space game was actually real, and training the earth people to fight the aliens when they arrived? Might be they're working on the final gate now, and life is slated to become very interesting.

We are all dying, but not good for anyone to have health issues and I wish Serene all the best of health.

Can you make a magical move yourself and disappear off this forum? Eve has been "dying" for over a decade now.

I sure hope CCP will continue to improve this awesome game. In the long run I hope they will launch more games that are all connected to each other, like the shooter they are working on. I mostly play Eve cause of how deep the game is, the danger involved with flying your ship, the endless customisation options and the player run economy. Connecting that to a shooter and other games sounds like much fun to me. |

the decline in users, could be chalked up to alot of things. The thing to actually look at is currently eve seems stable. Not really shrinking but not really growing

This game does not really attract the young generation of gamers simply due to the complexity and the unforgiving mechanics of the game. On top of that the game is also not really invitive to the new players. What good does a free trail do if the new players are being treated like crap by key vet players (without intervention by moderators) on the forum and in the game if they have a question/opinion/idea? EVE was and is a niche MMO and in 5 years depending on the fundings of CCP and further development choices it will only be played by the old hard core players and players that are still attached to their pixels in the game. Not CCP will in the end kill the game, but the self entitled vet players that scare of any new blood in the game and don't want any changes in EVE to make the game more attractive for the new generation of players. CCP needs to stop with listening to the old player base and make choices and change course that will make the game a healthy modern game for the next +10 years.
Or CCP needs to keep this EVE going as it is and build a new EVE 2.0 on the side that is up for the battle on the game market for the next +15 years with a game direction that is more appealing for the new generation. |

CCP in five years:
- CCP Seagull becomes President of Iceland.
- They hire a new programmer named CCP Dump and his first action is to build a wall around Delve and make them pay for it.
- Station billboards will feature "The whiner of the week show" moderated by CCP Guard. The winner gets a mining permit.
- CCP's Permaband wins a Grammy for "Album of the year".
- CCP announces that Plex's will become a tradable financial asset at the NYSE as of April 1st, 2021.
Let me say it this way.

My hope is Logi get's cut or a complete rethink and EWAR gets a complete rethink.
It is my opinion these two elements of the game have indirectly killed the games sandbox. |

The only thing I hope from CCP is that they move DUST to a platform that isn't at the end of its lifespan and performs poorly for its desired scope. Like, say, the PC. Where it could exist alongside EVE as part of the universe. Right now all DUST does is give a little percentage in faction warfare.
Unfortunately we'll probably just see three more things as poorly construed as DUST's platform of choice fall to the same malaise. |

I cannot see CCP divulging their 5 year plan for the game, you'll just have to read those sparse devblogs that tell you about bug fixes, and the latest ship skin that can be bought for a very short term view on that.
I imagine the intro of citadels and all the surrounding hardware and the removal of POS will be the main thing for the next year at least. |

It all depends how well Star Citizen does (if it does launch with a PU that's playable).
EVE will likely respond with integrating a planet landing experience with ground missions.
EVE will likely remain for what it is - largely due to the low PC requirements for gameplay. |

Ridiculous. Eve didn't use to attract "everyone" because we were all different back then. 10 years ago, eve attracted hardcore project gamers who could deal with a bit of a learning curve without a tantrum. Today it attracts the same sort of player, but a little bit less due to all the cotton wool wrapping, hand holding and safety.

Think star citizen will have a minimal effect on EvE in the long run. They may both take place in space but they are so different in almost every other way it's like comparing Call of Duty to DayZ, they both involve guns but that's about where the similarities end.

I will see eve in 5 years on my mobile, as a free app to download for android only, and demanding access to my twitter
Eve online is :
A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online
D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

I sit here pondering about consequences of anything and nothing.
Its mighty hard to predict when it is about nothing, as when it is about everything. Because, you know, everything may happen when you do nothing, and nothing may happen when you do anything.
If only CCP would not be so vague...

Somehow I dont think Star Citizen will have a big negative impact on EVE.
I did something stupid and rummaged their forums.
For some reason there is a lot of hate towards EVE.
Just read that:
Quote:BaconHeadIthorian, 2013
This game is not going to be EVE, period.
YES, there are large ships AVAILABLE. From everything stated by CR and the devs, they are NOT single player ships.
They are not "better" than all other ships in all roles.
They are not "better" at all other ships in combat.
Because thats how things are in EVE right? |
