Holy **** !!! Now that has got to be the most extreme example I've seen yet of a single loss by one Pilot while Hauling, and while I understand there are probably larger hits out there over time - Geesh what the FLIP was this Guy thinking about travelling this way in Low Sec.
FFS, I feel for the Guy(s) (Hauler Pilot and Aggressor) but only due to these Pilots' losses and not for any type of sympathy on HOW it happened.
I mean We all pretty much can or should guess the following about travelling with this much Value in the Cargo Hold...
Rule 1 - NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER - EVER - Travel with that much PURE ISK VALUE in the Cargo Hold - EVER (Not even High Sec).
Rule 2 - When in Doubt, please refer to Rule 1.
Rule 3 - When travelling through Low Sec and Empire with Valuables, either have friends and/or Alts advance scout the route ahead for You to notify You of any potential Camps and Ganks along the way.
Rule 4 - If possible, try to take alternate routes and multiple trips to accomplish this as someone else has already said, "Don't keep all your eggs in one basket......floating in a room......where pirates with baseball bats are running around screaming YARRR!".
Once again - Tough deal for both parties...

Respectfully,
The route he appeared to be taking saved him about 10 jumps on the way to Jita, the only negative side of this new route was it had 4 low sec jumps. Still... your 100% safe in a fast warping stabbed up Viator

Originally by: Malthros Zenobia Not impressive? $4000 is more than most farmers will make in YEARS. If I had killed that ship, I'd still be crying uncontrollably at the loss. The Value was well over 20b isk. Imo, it's over 25b, closer to 30. What I'm trying to say is... tiller, you just blew up your mealticket for a mothership.
Yes. NOT impressive. A highsec manic miner could produce over 100 mil a day per account (3 bil per month). A mission-running farmer could rake in 200 mil a day per account with ease (or 6 bil per month). A sweatshop 0.0 ratting op (you know, the kind you keep hearing people complain about) could net you 400 mil a day (12 bil per month).
Ok, so this guy appears to have been a complex farmer rather as any of the aforementioned distasteful ISK revenue methods. Assuming this guy (or this guy's op boss, whatever) was farming 5 complexes, YOU CAN notice how neatly arranged the overseer effects are... and the other stuff inside gives you a nice hint as to WHAT complexes he farmed. Even assuming he farmed them only once a day, you are looking at this farmer's MONTHLY income, at best. Or more likely, at his partial monthly income. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

If i was the guy that lost this ship i'd much rather it be more like a freighter where everything dies, that way they have the satisfaction of atleast knowing that their attackers got nothing. The way it is now this guys is sitting there thinking... great i've lost x billion... and i've just given these muppets y billion to sell.
In his defence though the viator is a damn tough ship, fast too, its not called a blockade runner because its a slow brick, they're actually quite tough and quite fast when setup properlly ofc.
Edit: On a side note i really hope for the victims sake that that is just a tiny little slice of his assets because thats the kind of loss that would make alot of people quit the game and who here honestly wants to see that happen?

There's no point in ransoming haulers: just ***** them open and see what is inside. Any hauler pilot who offers to pay a ransom is obviously carrying something EXTREMELY valuable.

I thought it was funny that tiller came into our local a little later and before leaving wished us better luck than he had then we destroyed a hauler (nothign on mail) but dorpped 2 GSC completely full of Tech II gear. We were too busy to check them, until we killed a loot stealing bantam that had looted one of the cans:
Victim: XXXXXX Alliance: NONE Corp: (18 das old) Destroyed: Bantam System: XXXXXXX Security: 0.4
Involved parties:
Name: Xaeon Security: -10.0 Alliance: Blood Raiders Alliance Corp: Murder-Death-Kill Ship: Lachesis Weapon: Lachesis
Name: Zaethiel (laid the final blow) Security: -10.0 Alliance: Blood Raiders Alliance Corp: Murder-Death-Kill Ship: Abaddon Weapon: Mega Pulse Laser II
Name: Lenniar Security: -9.5 Alliance: Blood Raiders Alliance Corp: Murder-Death-Kill Ship: Rook Weapon: 'Hypnos' Ion Field ECM I
Destroyed items:
Armor EM Hardener II, Qty: 5 (Cargo) Dark Blood Capacitor Power Relay (Cargo) Cap Recharger II, Qty: 20 (Cargo) Eutectic I Capacitor Charge Array, Qty: 10 (Cargo)
yeah and 5 Enam II survived. Then we found about 1.5 bill isk in stuff in the cans.

Sad to say that CCP does give way too many ships back. Most notebaly they gave a Navy Mega back to someone who got legitimately killed by 6 people. Though he said he lagged and dropped or soemthing i think he probably just logged. _________________________________________

Another fine example of the Snowy msstery of piracy tbh.And yes yours truly was there. We are the only pirate camp in Eve where this guy would have lost his ship and yes he was podded as well.I guess he was a bit too shocked to log off this time although it goes without saying that 99% of russian players log off as soon as they are locked at our camps. Since this little effort we have had quite a few red alliance noobs tyring to steal loot from us without success ofc.I guess those paymasters are a bit unhappy with snowy atm.
As as a side note while I am here Snowy is still recruiting the famous and not so famous to its ranks. If interested plz join channel 'OCTOBERSNOW' in game for a chat.

As Ju'Co said in one too many words thus getting owned by the Mod. Your not the only pirate corp in Eve and your not the only ones using a sensor boosted ships to catch things. As a matter of fact there have been a lot of people to use such ships even back when you were still exploiting gang membership in high sec to kill mission runners and they will continue to do so even after your gone. It just happens that the viators path to wherever crossed your camp. Call it good luck for you then bad luck after exploding. _________________________________________

Wow..... so much hate, it wasn't your alt was it ?
Why would I fake a bunch of stuff exploding. I just thought it was such a expensive cargo people might be interested to read about it.
In 2 1/2 years of killing for isk its the biggest value cargo I've ever seen. Maybe I should post about the hauler that we looted worth 3-4bill isk just 12hrs before ?.. you win some you lose some, and in this case we lost alot of potential loot.
I don't post about all our kills, in fact the last time I posted about a kill of mine was when I popped a freighter solo at a gate in a raven a year of so back. Again, it was something different at the time (they had only just been released onto market and tanks were not as good back then) and something I thought would be of interest to others.
btw, contents of sec cans ALWAYS show in the mails immediately under the secure can item. How do I know this ?, well.. I kill maybe 250 people a week (not because I'm some uber being, just because I'm a evil bastard who knows the game mechs, before anyone flames me)
....Guess that makes me a kill mail expert ?, I certainly have the credentials to claim being one. You on the other hand are just another smacktalker in a SNOWY thread. GRATZ

Secure cans contents do indeed show up on mails, trust me I know, 3 weeks ago we blew a hauler worth about 4 bil in secure container :(
Tell you something, its a good way to go about it, if your going to transport tons and tons of expensive stuff in a hauler, alone, with no scout, though hostile space, then transporting it in a container is the way to go about it :D

Its not that much, maybe to us mortals, but not to the 10/0 plex farmers (where this clearly comes from).
And the guy who said it was fake lol: I've caught/seen these caught in 0.0 alot of times. They operate as small as possible, some will have an alt scout, some of them dont even bother with that. Same with their ammo transports into a 10/10 system.
But def way more than 10b :)
