Oh and Tiller, you know that this loss is going to get petitioned and the new 'we reimburse everything' style of the GM's is going to mean the guy gets all his loot back if he mentions lag? Yeah, you got greifed son
NO! dont ruin this for us! that noob was owned, let us enjoy it and laugh at him
The solution is simple. Find out where he travels and do it again. And again. And again.
They'll only buy the "lag" thing for so long. And noobs like this don't learn fast, ESPECIALLY when they get their stuff back by petition. It gives them a false sense of security.

Win some and lose some; but I don't think some people truly understand the situation.
Some of you are painting the picture as if Snowy took a loss or should feel bad about the can popping. We didn't lose anything, apart from theoretical opportunity.
We aren't crying, or feeling depressed, etc. Its simply an unfortunate incident. The one crying is the pilot of that ship, I'm sure.
M8 when i read these figures i have to admit i feel a little bit of pain for my friends in snowy. Perhaps something can be learnt from this and the devs will sort it out. Surely this screams out that we pirates dont get enough from the loot of those (very) rare sweet kills.
Sidenote - if it was a isk farmers loot slap it up him. Damn that had to hurt... hehe

no it isnt. 17 x 133....
Now add the other 18.
There's 3 stacks of 23rd tier effects. Near the top is 18, further down are the 14 and 3.
133*(18+14+3) = 4655
Around 4.655 billion ISK from those 35 effects.

FFS, I feel for the Guy(s) (Hauler Pilot and Aggressor) but only due to these Pilots' losses and not for any type of sympathy on HOW it happened.
I mean We all pretty much can or should guess the following about travelling with this much Value in the Cargo Hold...
Rule 1 - NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER - EVER - Travel with that much PURE ISK VALUE in the Cargo Hold - EVER (Not even High Sec).
Rule 2 - When in Doubt, please refer to Rule 1.
Rule 3 - When travelling through Low Sec and Empire with Valuables, either have friends and/or Alts advance scout the route ahead for You to notify You of any potential Camps and Ganks along the way.
Rule 4 - If possible, try to take alternate routes and multiple trips to accomplish this as someone else has already said, "Don't keep all your eggs in one basket......floating in a room......where pirates with baseball bats are running around screaming YARRR!".

Originally by: Malthros Zenobia Not impressive? $4000 is more than most farmers will make in YEARS. If I had killed that ship, I'd still be crying uncontrollably at the loss. The Value was well over 20b isk. Imo, it's over 25b, closer to 30. What I'm trying to say is... tiller, you just blew up your mealticket for a mothership.
Yes. NOT impressive. A highsec manic miner could produce over 100 mil a day per account (3 bil per month). A mission-running farmer could rake in 200 mil a day per account with ease (or 6 bil per month). A sweatshop 0.0 ratting op (you know, the kind you keep hearing people complain about) could net you 400 mil a day (12 bil per month).
Ok, so this guy appears to have been a complex farmer rather as any of the aforementioned distasteful ISK revenue methods. Assuming this guy (or this guy's op boss, whatever) was farming 5 complexes, YOU CAN notice how neatly arranged the overseer effects are... and the other stuff inside gives you a nice hint as to WHAT complexes he farmed. Even assuming he farmed them only once a day, you are looking at this farmer's MONTHLY income, at best. Or more likely, at his partial monthly income. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

The way it is now this guys is sitting there thinking... great i've lost x billion... and i've just given these muppets y billion to sell.
In his defence though the viator is a damn tough ship, fast too, its not called a blockade runner because its a slow brick, they're actually quite tough and quite fast when setup properlly ofc.
Edit: On a side note i really hope for the victims sake that that is just a tiny little slice of his assets because thats the kind of loss that would make alot of people quit the game and who here honestly wants to see that happen?

There's no point in ransoming haulers: just ***** them open and see what is inside. Any hauler pilot who offers to pay a ransom is obviously carrying something EXTREMELY valuable.

I thought it was funny that tiller came into our local a little later and before leaving wished us better luck than he had then we destroyed a hauler (nothign on mail) but dorpped 2 GSC completely full of Tech II gear. We were too busy to check them, until we killed a loot stealing bantam that had looted one of the cans:
Victim: XXXXXX Alliance: NONE Corp: (18 das old) Destroyed: Bantam System: XXXXXXX Security: 0.4
Involved parties:
Name: Xaeon Security: -10.0 Alliance: Blood Raiders Alliance Corp: Murder-Death-Kill Ship: Lachesis Weapon: Lachesis
Name: Zaethiel (laid the final blow) Security: -10.0 Alliance: Blood Raiders Alliance Corp: Murder-Death-Kill Ship: Abaddon Weapon: Mega Pulse Laser II
Name: Lenniar Security: -9.5 Alliance: Blood Raiders Alliance Corp: Murder-Death-Kill Ship: Rook Weapon: 'Hypnos' Ion Field ECM I
Destroyed items:
Armor EM Hardener II, Qty: 5 (Cargo) Dark Blood Capacitor Power Relay (Cargo) Cap Recharger II, Qty: 20 (Cargo) Eutectic I Capacitor Charge Array, Qty: 10 (Cargo)
yeah and 5 Enam II survived. Then we found about 1.5 bill isk in stuff in the cans.

Another fine example of the Snowy msstery of piracy tbh.And yes yours truly was there. We are the only pirate camp in Eve where this guy would have lost his ship and yes he was podded as well.I guess he was a bit too shocked to log off this time although it goes without saying that 99% of russian players log off as soon as they are locked at our camps. Since this little effort we have had quite a few red alliance noobs tyring to steal loot from us without success ofc.I guess those paymasters are a bit unhappy with snowy atm.
As as a side note while I am here Snowy is still recruiting the famous and not so famous to its ranks. If interested plz join channel 'OCTOBERSNOW' in game for a chat.

As Ju'Co said in one too many words thus getting owned by the Mod. Your not the only pirate corp in Eve and your not the only ones using a sensor boosted ships to catch things. As a matter of fact there have been a lot of people to use such ships even back when you were still exploiting gang membership in high sec to kill mission runners and they will continue to do so even after your gone. It just happens that the viators path to wherever crossed your camp. Call it good luck for you then bad luck after exploding. _________________________________________

Wow..... so much hate, it wasn't your alt was it ?
Why would I fake a bunch of stuff exploding. I just thought it was such a expensive cargo people might be interested to read about it.
In 2 1/2 years of killing for isk its the biggest value cargo I've ever seen. Maybe I should post about the hauler that we looted worth 3-4bill isk just 12hrs before ?.. you win some you lose some, and in this case we lost alot of potential loot.
I don't post about all our kills, in fact the last time I posted about a kill of mine was when I popped a freighter solo at a gate in a raven a year of so back. Again, it was something different at the time (they had only just been released onto market and tanks were not as good back then) and something I thought would be of interest to others.
btw, contents of sec cans ALWAYS show in the mails immediately under the secure can item. How do I know this ?, well.. I kill maybe 250 people a week (not because I'm some uber being, just because I'm a evil bastard who knows the game mechs, before anyone flames me)
....Guess that makes me a kill mail expert ?, I certainly have the credentials to claim being one. You on the other hand are just another smacktalker in a SNOWY thread. GRATZ

GRATZ
Tiller is right and i personally can't find any spelling errors spacing errors or incorrect item names. If its a fake mail its a very well made one at that. _________________________________________

Secure cans contents do indeed show up on mails, trust me I know, 3 weeks ago we blew a hauler worth about 4 bil in secure container :(
Tell you something, its a good way to go about it, if your going to transport tons and tons of expensive stuff in a hauler, alone, with no scout, though hostile space, then transporting it in a container is the way to go about it :D

Its not that much, maybe to us mortals, but not to the 10/0 plex farmers (where this clearly comes from).
And the guy who said it was fake lol: I've caught/seen these caught in 0.0 alot of times. They operate as small as possible, some will have an alt scout, some of them dont even bother with that. Same with their ammo transports into a 10/10 system.
But def way more than 10b :)

yay, so i got a question for the killmail experts (sorry if its already been mentioned):
do secure cans always blow up? i cant remember any single case where a blown ship dropped sec cans, or a wreck had any in it.
coz if thats the case...
mebbe that person is like... real rich in RL and you ****ed him off, so he ebay tons of expensive stuff, put it in a can and let you blow it up or something weird.
you know that people eject their ships, therefore need to buy new ones, even if you ransom them for much less than the ship is worth.
or they get contracted to suicide pop freighters in highsec (damn that was cool)
simply put: strange things happen every day ..

If a can survives it will float in space next to the wreck with all it's contents intact. They survive quite often..... it's just a random thing.
When a bunch of cans pop out of a hauler my heart speeds up with the excitement of wondering what goodys lie within, then usually dissapointment learning it's just trit

Sorry that you didn't get to keep at least a couple of those goodies tiller; for denying the plex farmers that amount of isk you definitely deserve at least something. As for their identity, well, most of that stuff comes from Angel and Sansha 10/10s, so it isn't hard to guess.
Would be interesting for someone to tally up the m3 of all that stuff and compare it to a viator's capacity to try and arrive at a guess as to how much more could have been truncated.

You are missing what I'm telling you.
$4000, to the farmer, is years of pay. To their bosses and the shop owner it's possibly some daily income, however this loss, if a gold farmer, is likely costing them that job, if not more.

Edited by: Ginger Magician on 16/03/2007 14:07:36 Lot of ignorance on this thread. Cargo scanners do not scan inside secure cans in cargoholds. This was a viator moving at close to 1000m/s plus having built in+2 warp core strength. Its not a good idea to ransom the members of certain alliances who almost without exception logoff while still cloaked at the gate after jumping into one of our camps. Yesterday we were very lucky to take out a maelstrom who did just that.We were fortunate to have a high dps sniper that time but that dont always happen.
Us pirates who are constantly monitored and heavily censored and nerfed by CCP have to watch everything that we do and say with the utmost caution whereas those who constantly and deilberately exploit every possible aspect of the game mechanics get away scott free. You only have to recall the recent thread of my ban as an example of this.

That sucks m8 :( On the bright side tho you have made a huge blow agains this allaince whom's name cant be mentioned here (why mods why???).
And you defo got one of the best killmails of the year, Grats on that.
One issue tho that CCP should take notice is hauler loot, why haulers could not use different sort of cargo bays , and 99% of their mods/cargo would survive just so piracy could have even some sort of RP element in it, as shootting haulers is more of a RP element and less of a PVP situation. Should pirates not be rewarded as mission runners do? |

We are one of the few pirate corps with the balls to field cap ships on a daily basis. Others I've spoken to about the tactic say it's too risky.
You speak like a carrier is a gate camp super weapon, it's just a support ship, and a very vulnerable one at that

No, not off topic at all, after all it was Ginger who brought this all up, saying that those who escape your gate camps exploit every game mechanic possible, and are thus horrible eve players.
I was just pointing out that Snowy has a track record of exploiting game mechanics too.
Again, its about using Snowy logic to illuminate Snowy. If you are going to have a specific criteria to denoted "bad" eve players, you'd better make sure that you don't exhibit that behavior, unless of course (which Ginger seems to be,) you are comfortable looking like a tool on the forums.

I'm not quite sure how I started "trolling." Ginger said this (in this thread): Edited by: Ginger Magician on 16/03/2007 14:07:36 whereas those who constantly and deilberately exploit every possible aspect of the game mechanics get away scott free.
Along with some other stuff about how uber it was that he killed a hauler at a gate, saying essentially nobody else in eve could do it. This kill, lets face it, would have yielded uber loot had any droped, but ganking a hauler, blockade runner or otherwise, in a huge gate camp is no accomplishment worth boasting about, nor is it fair of Ginger to say that everyone who gets away from his camps is, again, someone who:
constantly and deilberately exploit every possible aspect of the game mechanics [and] get away scott free.
Especially when October Snow readily admit to things like logging to save their pods.
If you are going to make statements like the above quoted, anywhere on these forums (and they did make them HERE IN THIS THREAD) I'm going to call you on it. Simple as that.

Again, I'm the bad guy and the troller? Ginger came to this thread (look if you don't believe me) and said that nobody else in eve could have ever caught this ship at the gate. He then proceded to lament that those who do happen to get away from his gate camps, by logging specifically, are horrible players (and people) because they "constantly and deilberately exploit every possible aspect of the game mechanics."
I then say that its ironic, considering that Snowy (Tiller specifically) admits to logging when he dies to save his implants.
Thus, I'm the troll, because I challenged, yet again, the hypocricy so ever present in almost every f'ing Ginger or Snowy post.
Maybe they'll war dec me again now (as they have before for pointing out that they are hypocrits.)
