Why do you limit yourself so, Crumple?

How is this going to help?
Example, you jump into a gatecamp and your inside a bubble, you haven't pvped anyone. You logoff immediately, your ship won't warp due to the new mechanic, but it won't move either so you'll stay cloaked for a minute. 45 seconds pass and your ship vanishes from space whilst cloaked.
This is how it's going to be now right?

When you log off your ship will uncloak to emergency warp immediately. Thus the cloak timer wont save you. The people who log off then log on quickly to get 1 au from the gate now will log on just long enough to pop. Maybe even on long enough so that pod dies too. I see this as a good thing.

That's it, I'm going to FanFest this year. There will be much hugging. Manly, platonic hugging, but hugging nonetheless.
Extend this, however, so that Scrambled = No E-Warp. Whether by ship or bubble. ----- I AM NOT AN ALT DO NOT CLICKY MY POSTS You're not what you are, you're just what you do! So it ends with their butts and it starts with your shoe! - Awesome Car Fun Maker |

E-Warp is *already* stopped by scrambling, assuming you have sufficient points on them. The only shortcoming was that you still e-warped when bubbled, which this fix changes. This does *not*, however, sort the log-off-with-no-aggro-timer-and-disappear-magically-while-scrambled exploit.
In what I'm sure is completely-unrelated news, the entire membership of RA has announced that they're quitting Eve, effective next patch day.

This is what happened when I tested the stopping of emergency warp while in a bubble using 2 accounts.
1. Ship A jumps into system 2. Ship B notice jump-in and launches bubble 3. Ship A sees bubble and close client 4. Ship A is uncloaked as soon as client is closed BUT is not targetable for almost a full minute (1 min from the time he entered system). 5. Ship B finally get a lock and puts guns/scram on Ship A 6. Less than 10 seconds later Ship A disappears.
So for a BS+ size ships logoff will still save you unless there is a whole fleet waiting on the other side that can insta pop you. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

Excellent choice, CCP. Took you long enough but this is definately a step into the right direction! 0.0 is a high risk area. If you travel there you HAVE to be in constant danger of losing your ship. If CCP now implements a logoff timer for 15 minutes for everyone and puts in a Module which you can add to a POS to dock and logoff instantly, the game is back to what it is supposed to be. NON-CONSENSUAL PvP. You are in hostile space? you will have to live with the risk or look for a station where you can safely logoff. It was in UO the way that the only way to instantly logoff was at a tavern and it made sense same should be in Eve. This is what a great game is all about. No I-WIN button for no-risk but high reward seeking cowards.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

This change would be good if EVE was stable. But EVE is not stable, while I never crashed upon jumping under normal circumstances, even small fleets of less than 30 often lead to emergency warps.
With that solution, does it mean that when your screen will finally update, you'll find yourself in a pod or at a clone station without having seen anything of who shot you?
If so, there should be some internal tool for GMs to know the delay between when a pilot enters a system and when all data has successfully been transferred to his client, otherwise petitioning lag will only result in the usual 'we can't see anything wrong' GM response.
Whatever, I never had a problem with people logging off when they had no chance to fight back, but if CCP thinks the majority of it's playerbase can only shoot fish in a barrel, so be it. ____________________ A gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipe, but who does not. |
