I don't know if they are tech 2 or elite, or simply NPC, but there are many cool NPC frigates and ships that we hope we can fly.
Black Atron, Serpentis variation --- Darker skinned, got additional turret appendages on them. (e.g. Patrollers)
Black Navitas, Serpentis variation --- Darker skinned, got more turret appendages. (e.g. Drug Couriers).
Black Maulus, Serpentis variation --- Darker skinned, got more turret appendages. Prior to the patch, fired missiles and used blasters. After the patch, only uses small rails. (Drug Carriers, Defenders).
Black Incursus, Serpentis variation --- Got more turret appendages around the ship. (Sentinel, Guards)
Black Tristan, Serpentis variation --- Darker skinned, now got two spikes under each "arm". Now uses both rails and blasters. This variation only appeared after the patch. Previous Serpentis Protectors and Solders do not have the dual arm spikes. My hope that it will be the basis for the Tech 2 Tristan.
Winged Executioner, Bloods/Amarr navy variation --- You sometimes see this patrolling around Amarr gates. it has extra fins on top and stubby wings on the side, giving it a more aggressive look. I hiope they use this model fo the Tech 2 Executioner.
Silver Sarum Inquisitor, seen with Sarum Navy class ships (Bloods do not have this variation). This has a thicker upper hull, stubby wings on top and additional turret appendages compared to the standard Inquisitor. You can see these ships commonly patrolling gates in the Amarr region. Like the winged Executioners, the Silver Inquisitors have been around before the patch. I hope they use this model for the Tech 2 Inquisitor.
Angel Impaler --- One of the best looking NPC frigs I've seen.
Angel Crusader/Raider --- Angels all have unique looking ships, and there seems to be three to four basic body variations, compared to two for Sansha.

I absolutely agree, a little more variety in player ships would be awesome. Hell, even custom paint jobs would be cool.

The Angel frigates are too many to elaborate, but apparently the Angels and the Sansha are the only pirate factions where CCP invested the time and artwork to create unique ships. The Angel frigates and cruisers deserve a lineup of their own. There are some pics of Angel ships in the screenshots section but not enough.
There is an easy way to check these ships out. Do it yourself. Hunt the Angels or Serpentis, or tour the Amarr gates for the ships mentioned.
When you see the ship, click on it to get the menu and click on the "Look At" command.

Who cares about the frigates? Serpentis ships rule. The vexor and the thorax looks so damn cool with those dark skins.
But, since I'm trying to use nothing but caldari ships, I'd love a Guristas scorp.

Recent combat missions have sent me up against 'mercenaries' that were using the SCT crusier models.
Wouldn't have even noticed, if I hadn't done a 'look at' on the ship, and turned up this curvey, sleek, spindly gold thing.

Yes and it would be great if we could be able to have ships like the NPC that can fire rails and missles at ridiculous speeds, use mwd, scramble, statis, all without any kind of enrergy penalty too. From one exteme to the other...

Anyone who wants amarr ships without the **** yellow color should check out Khanid. Dark metallic blue with blue lights. If they'd just skin the Armas and the stations, I'd be in heaven down here.

Basically you got two skins for Amarr Navy ships.
Sarum and Khanid uses a dark metallic or silver blue.
Ammatar and Amarr uses a dark to black color.
They're really nice to look at, especially the Arbitrators.

I did notice that the NPC ships are often better than the player variants. The Serpentis are remarkably fast (sometimes I cannot outrun a cruiser when I am using three overdrives and a MWD). In addition, I've fought Serpentis Thoraxes that used missiles, even though a Thorax doesn't have Missile Turret Hardpoints... So I do hope that these ships are elite/tech II; I don't really like it when NPCs are allowed to cheat (If they have missiles, just give them their own graphics, and don't use the Thorax picture).

I agree 200%. I would have thought they would take a little more time to make new graphics for everything. Its not that hard to make a new model or something. Well, ok, it takes time, but thats their job. People like lots to chose from. The more ships the better.

I think they need more symetrical ships. Not all of them, since, it adds to the originality. But there arent many ships that look, well, symetrical. some of the amarr ships are, but thats about it. Has anyone checked out the D.A. (dark amarr i assume?) ships at ganjas image gallery? those things look cool.

Blood Engravers are Crucifiers that can shoot missiles. Not just one but sometimes two at the same time, indicating two launchers. The stock Crucifier can't even shoot a missile.
Ditto with the Maulus used by Serpentis (Drug Carrier and Defender). They shoot missiles when the stock ship doesn't.
Blood Arch Engraver is an Arbitrator which I have spotted occassionally shoots two missiles, when the stock Arbitrator only has one launcher.
I think for the list of wish flyables, let us add the Sansha ships, especially the infamous Lord line of battleships.

Edited by: Joe on 27/12/2003 03:24:58 Even if they delay the release of these Elite or Tech¦ Frigates, there seems to be an item that would make any frigate HARDCORE. Micro Auxiliary Power Core 1's. they apear on the station markets while 'active items' is switch off & instead of a 10% powergrid bonus, they Add +10 to your grid. That means you could increase weapon loads, even fit a H50 on If these come out as well as New Frigates, I'm sure there will be a new shift in power between the ship class's...

Is it just me or do I remember mention of customised ship paint jobs and even some logos, pre-beta?
OK, so I guess it was dropped for release but it does not appear to even be remembered.
Not of great importance to me but I did like the idea when it was on the old forums.

The very dark blue arbitrator. Just the skin change alone makes the ship uber sexy.

You can actually change the skin and models of those ships you want to fly (though it only appears as you "fly" the ship, you don't actually get it's stats).
I agree, having those ship variations ably to actually fly and get the stats would be a very, very nice touch that I always have wanted. (ie, have a good standing with Concord, able to buy their ships, Good Angel standing, etc....)
