There was a login message to remember it. (You know the box that is sometimes there to remember you about downtimes etc.) How so many people managed to not get the message is beyond me. I guess some people just play while they should be sleeping...

or, as stated by others earlier, the login screen message was obscured by a client update notification. As it would only be displayed once, if you didn't read it before clicking OK to the update, as many wouldn't have done, you'd not see it again. |

How come the 'Holiday' gifts aren't available on Christmas Eve? Why has it already been cancelled? Me and my bro have 4 accounts between us and we've totally missed out. Doesn't make much sense. :( |

1: Funny, everyone else gets the same updates, yet it was clearly visible to everyone else.
2: True, not everyone reads the forums, however the people complaining here and in other threads clearly DO.
3: Most people read the whole dev blog, whose fault is it that some lack the attention span. By the way, the implants you mentioned are also a holiday gift, yet everyone seems to have forgotten that detail.
4: If you don't receive an EVE newsletter in your email you opted out of it or changed email without updating your account information. Your choice of course, along with the consequences of that.
If you effectively refuse to read or notice all of the information coming at you about offers like this, the only person you have to blame is yourself.
Now turn in your stupid petition and get the extra gifts anyway, despite being an irresponsible and self entitled child.

You mean that tiny easily missed box? That would be a horrible place to inform anyone of anything important.
CCP could have done a thousand things different with this and all half assed that would have been better then what they actually did.
Heck even a POP up that you had to read and scroll before you could close it out would have been better then what they did do.

I don't recall reading a time limit on the offer. It said something along the lines of, 'from December 22nd on' so I assumed it would include Christmas Eve. My mistake for assuming that logic would be applied I suppose. |

Here I am, 3 weeks out of the game due to taking care of a sick family member out of town. Had heard a few references to the holiday gift while reading through the forums during my absence. Had even been keeping tabs on my ingame mail through evegate to keep in touch with corp members.
I log in today to find that I apparently completely missed the opportunity to get a holiday gift. And I only discover this after going through the effort of researching it on the forums to try and figure out how to pick an item.
Pretty lame that you didn't do anything to inform me that there was some sort of hoop to jump through this year. Evemail is the first and primary means of communication in the game and you chose not to use it? You work in mysterious ways CCP... Mysterious, as in WTF?
You didn't even think to have a default gift for those who didn't make a choice? Double fail. |

Wise word's.
My experience of this is:
Indeed, Sooooo many patch's recently that unless you logged in hourly it was easy to miss whatever I missed as well. All I saw was the one about claim your gift from the 22nd. From in my books means after and including the aforementioned period of measurement that is referenced after the from; Which is correct beyond that aspect that it in no way detailed how to pick such gift of choice and also was completely lacking in any reference to some popup that apparently was there but like most was applying a automatic client update and had NFI it was ever there in the first place. Given how the two implants were handed out it does seem a bit of utter SNAFU on CCP's part and could of been handeled alot better, especialy given HOW many updates recently. CCP in competition with Valves TeamFortress2 to see how many updates they can push in a week as I think they may actualy be winning currently.
-- But hey if you disagree with this then hey, that's your problem, just don't involve me in your problems as I have my own so meh :p. |

Don't mistake maturity with having an ulterior motive.
What is hard to take seriously are people getting this worked up over an imaginary extra gift that they had to go to fairly unbelievable lengths NOT to be aware of. Revenge should not stop at the ship!

One final note, to the people saying all they needed to do was send out an EVE mail in game.
You realize that if they had the only difference would be that we would be seeing this addition to the complaints in this thread:
"I get far to many emails in game to read all of them, in fact I have blink turned off on my neo com so that I won't be bothered. Not only that, but I haven't logged on in the last month, so how could I possibly have received an EVE mail about it? What a stupid notification system, CCP is fail."

Step 1 (and only) - I was too busy with RL work to find the time to look for something that i did not know was there. ;)
You are correct in that people must take some responsibility for missing it, but the question still exists, why did CCP choose to time limit this offer so tightly, when all previous gifts have had a far longer claim window? Surely, they should have predicted that a significant number of their loyal player base would miss the offer and be unhappy about it. It just looks like a bit of an unnecessary own-goal to me.

I have to admit that CCP response to petition about gifts was hanled as professional way it could ever done on by any organization.
It was so smooth that i regret that i ever said any negative about CCP on this matter.
It seems that CCP posts that they have changed is truth after all.
My petition about gift were handled most professional way than no one ever could believe. |

If your reason is you were too busy to log in for a month (the first notice went out at the end of November) how is that CCP's fault.
By the way, in one of the other games that I play the announcement of their Holiday Special had a whopping 2 day notice, and a window of 5 days. The only announcement was on their log in screen and web site.
Oddly enough, nobody complained. Revenge should not stop at the ship!

I simply believe that everyone deserves an individual response when they take the time to articulate a point.

Ok, man, you're awesome. So be happy with it, and let the people who missed the gifts ask for a way to redeem them even, you know, during the Christmas holiday period, if actually those gifts are intended as Christmas gifts.
