Edited by: James Nightwanderer on 20/03/2007 01:14:35 recently lost a hyperion deep in 0.0 and thought to myself that with the extra low slot and much cheaper sticker price of a megathron, that it may be more worthwhile in PvP. how would you suggest setting one up?

PVP:
Blasters: Highs: 4x ion II, 3x electron II Mids: named injector w/ 800s, named/t2 MWD, named web, scram Lows: 2x LAR II, 2x EANM II, named DC, 2x MFS II
I think that fits with a 3% turret reduced cpu need implant... and those are cheap.
Sniper: Highs: 7x 425mm II Mids: MWD, 3x sensor booster (named or t2, whatever) Lows: 3x MFS II, 3x tracking enhancer II, 1x MAR II Great damage, passable tank.

Not worth flying a Mega without T2 blasters tbqh.

Really? it's a long train to large tech II blasters for me, plus I'm sure they cost a ton.

T2 large blasters are spendy, but not quite as bad as t2 autocannons afaik (haven't checked them lately).
T2 will start changing in price here soon, too... due to inventions. Data core drop/purchase price is going to be dropping... CCP is still "fine tuning" inventions.
Diux is right, however... to be effective in a blasterthron, you really need access to null and void ammo.
Of course there's the training time... but as the training times get longer, the training times that used to feel long stop feeling long ;)

Fit it for Gank.

Thats similar to my setup and in mine if I fit modal instead of t2 Im able to fit a heavy noz into the 8th slot. It works well if you cant use t2 L blasters yet.

T2 are quite essential but since you can't use them no need to kill yourself over it, heres a t1 gun varient that I use to use before I got t2 blasters.
H-S 1-7: Modal electrons 8: Heavy nos
M-S 1: MWD T2 2: Fleeting Scrambler 3: Heavy Cap. injector with 800s 4: Fleeting Web
L-S: 1-2: LAR II 3-4 EANM II 5: DC (I used 3x hardeners II back then and they worked well enough too) 6-7: MFS II
And for when you do get T2 guns (well worth the wait btw) a good neutron setup is in the lows fit 2x 1600mm plates, 2x EANM IIs, 3x MFS IIS ... setup is really good for gangs just make sure you have a friend with a remote rep. or repair drones.

7x neutron blaster II
1x named 100mn mwd 1x fleeting web 1x faint disruptor 1x medium electrochemical injector
1x large 'acco' rep 2x 1600mm rolled tungsten plate 1x n-type explosive hardener 1x n-type kinetic hardener 1x n-type thermic hardener 1x Damage control II
5x Berserker II's
random idiot: "omg, a neutron build without damage mods!?" me: "aye, stfu"
ofcourse this setup changes quite a bit with Rigs and become a hell lot more effective for the extra 30 mil.

This setup is indeed good. Though I fit a heavy cap injector instead of the medium one, it fits with AWU 5 and a -5% turret cpu implant. Though I believe that there's not enough cpu for a disruptor after that, so either go with a scrambler, or two webbers and a mate
Add 3 Trimark armor rigs, and lg slaves, and you hit approx 38k armor with normal omni-tank resistance, and you still pump out a hell of a lot dps. It'll take ages for someone to eat through your armor.
Ofcourse this is only viable for empire, or other places where you have a station around. Unless you have gangmates with remote reppers/repper drones ofc.

I used to run that same exact setup but with the buff to plates dropped a dual rep for a 1600mm rolled and with the powergrid/cpu saved you can fit larger guns and have a less cap intensive setup, allowing your cap boosters to go further. ---------------------

For PvP: highs: 7 T2 neutron blasters/whatever in the last slot meds: mwd, web, scram, med cap booster (to keep the guns going)
lows: as many plates as you can fit, the rest damage mods.
dronebay: 5 T2 heavy berserkers.
suicidal, but fun. Yarr |

Unless you're going to fit T2 neutrons on the thing, don't even bother with blasters. It's really easy to tank Neutron IIs, much less smaller guns. You'll just cap out and die with 2x LAR IIs.
Unless you have maxed skills and 7x Neutron IIs, you just won't be doing enough DPS to break a single BS tank. And even then you can find plenty of 'normal' T2 tanks that will take the 1100 or so DPS you can throw at them.

Nice but I would change it alittle seeing as how thats pretty much the only ship and have spend every sp in gallente since beta :).
Highs: 6 neutron blaster II's, 1 ion blaster II
Mids: MWD, medium booster, web, scrambler
lows: 2 ways you can do this 3 mfs, 1 eanm, 2 1600 plates, 1 large repper or go 3mfs, 1 eanm, 3 16oo plates dont put dc on, by the time you hit structure, your either gonna die or have no cap left, plain and simple.
rigs: explosive rig, 2 trimarks
with the explosive rig and the eanm gives you 50+ if not more across the board passive. :) 3 plates and 2 trimarks gives you an insane amt of armor as well.

lol read what I just said, put a explosive rig in and bam you have 50+ across :), screw dc, hull means your in deep ****.
oops almost forgot now, now with faction ammo. Go with the federation ammo, way better then the void, range is just a wee shorter but the tracking is kickass with gallente 5 and damage is same if not a weeeeee better.

hell just put in both the +5 implants for damage for the large turrent --> +5 to all, and +5 to large. and then to top it off put in 3 shadow mag stabs. Anyone with maxed skills in blasters will know when I say gankage I mean it in a bad way lol. Oh and turn your overheat on, you might reach 15 >:) who knows I wouldnt....

A Damage control is an extremely useful mod and an absolute must on a Megathron. You should always fit one, considering Gallente have the most hull hit points. And fitting two damage implants means you sacrifice a turret CPU implant, which is a no go on a Blasterthron.

Hello, I am new to a Megathron. Can you please advise on fitting using specific and full item names, not abbreviations? I need your expert suggestions!
