You are certainly aware that "head of state" is mostly a ceremonial position, and that they simply cannot actually run entire nations single handedly? The nations will be as much as crippled as the Empire was after assassination of Jamyl - in a state of shock and disbelief, but everything didn't just grind to a halt.
So no, I am not concerned about Drifters crippling the known space. |

Regardless of what some of you might think we Matari are a peaceful people and good neighbors who respect diplomacy and the rule of law. Yes, we may sometimes act more out of passion than you might wish but, given our history, I think our actions are overall quite understandable.
Look, the imperials extended a diplomatic courtesy to the head of the Republic and he accepted. Let's just leave it at that until we know all the facts, shall we?

It's.. quite shocking that nobody took advantage of the window of time between when the fleet left and when they met up with the Imperial Guard. Because us 'cultists' might not be so stupid as to attack someone who got an official invitation, whether it was expected they'd use it or not. As for other parties, dunno. I never called you 'cultists' Not just the Amarr/loyalists, quite a large number of organizations/people would want any of the four heads of state dead. Don't be so sensitive fam.
My reply was more intended to be a barbed retort to Matar Ronin, whom often uses the words 'slaver cultists' to describe us. Any offence to yourself was unintended, and a bonus. Don't be so sensitive 'fam'.
Just kidding.

Personally I'm more interested in what the man is wearing. I'm a big fan of suits, and I'm rather curious what, exactly, a Sanmatar of the Republic might wear to a formal outing.
Top and tails? Morning dress? Black tie? Number One full military dress? The options!

I'm kind of hoping for full-on ceremonial robes, but I can understand if they're a little worried about him whacking someone with the Khumaak.

I've heard that it would be something traditionally Brutor in style, but with a bit of the admiralty uniform running through, from a clan member who runs a clothier in the capital that's supposedly frequented by the Sanmatar. And yes, I did hear that a Khumaak would be involved though I hear it would be much too ornate and expensive for that kind of action.
I'm really interested in the first address that he makes after coming back from the coronation. This definitely signals a new diplomatic strategy and he'll have to back it up with some sort of new rationale. Exciting times, family. Exciting times.

I wouldn't worry too much, he's doing a lot of broadcasting, but there don't seem to be a lot of serious listeners, unless their tuning in for high comedy.
Ronin look, we can all see that you like Arrendis, but you'd probably make a better impression without the troll routine. I don't think she's going for it. |

Seems the Sanmatar did indeed turn out in traditional dress just as Felise described. And he did, in fact, exchange some pleasantries with our new Empress.

They definitely kept that surprise under wraps, though I imagine for good reason. The media firestorm would have been uncontrollable had anyone known beforehand. It's a little odd because I had heard that the Tribal Council was looking to make Yun much less visible even within Republic diplomatic circles. Interesting. |

I was as surprised by the Sanmatar's clothing as anyone as that particular cousin is known to...exaggerate her insider knowledge, but I guess this time she was straight on. A day of surprises indeed.
It's been a banner day for diplomacy, hasn't it? Hopefully some substantive high level talks are in the offing. In any event, it's a good start. |
