-the sun remains the same size no matter how far away you are - suns are the size they are, if they're 10m km's in diameter, they stay that size.
-if space is a vacuum why can i hear my autocannons? - because the air in your ship carries the noise.
-if im in a pod with no windows why does my ship have windows? - how else would your ships computers operate?
Jeeeze, man... please stop talking! Did you ever hear about physics? Stop throwing stones in the school, and start learning. I don't even want to know what kind of computer you have. Does it need windows? I hope you have a lot of them in your room. LOOOOOL Regards

Then why ask questions on how thing works if you don't care? BTW, noob does not mean lack of skill, in most instances, noob = idiot (newbie = lack of skill)
hydraslav see my above post re: pointing out interesting non sequiturs in the game. i was just bored and wanted to see what other people had come up with. after you read the whole thread maybe you can get back to writing some great fan fiction!

Originally by: Treg Valar You can hear your auto-cannons because your pod simulates the battleground for you, it takes information from the camera drone and then puts sound to the actions.
Your pod also has an built in stereo.
Or maybe I'm thinking this through too much.
My pod has a built in cup holder.
Quafe anyone?

I suspect that there is a very good physical reason as to why the planets donĘt move.
Eve has cartoon like physics because this is necessary to make the game playable. A consequence of this carton physics is that celestial objects must be stationary.
In the eve universe, there is an absolute zero velocity. The speed of everything is referenced to this zero velocity. Reality is different. In rl, there is no such thing as a zero velocity. So a person standing still on the ground cannot claim to be stationary, after all the earth is moving through space.
If eve as it is now had moving celestial objects then the zero velocity would have to be different at different moving points in space. Also, because we can fly anywhere in space, the zero velocity would have to change smoothly. Now think about a system with dozens of moving celestial objects, with a smoothly changing zero velocity moving between them. This system is nonsense, at least saying there is a common zero velocity everywhere is consistent.
So the planets have to be stationary in our universal zero velocity universe. Otherwise they will just zip past our ships at hundreds of kilometers per second.
I have heard many people ask why eve canĘt have realistic physics. The reason is that the real physics makes things complicated. It is hard for players to understand, hard to program for the devs, and then it would be taxing for the computers to run.
Basically, if eve had realistic physics ships would pass each other at hundreds of kilometers per second making engaging people almost impossible. Manual control would be impossible. The program would need some complex algorithms for matching ship velocities and positions, this would be hard to program and make the game difficult for computers to run.
So, anyway, what I am trying to get to is that eve is a much better game with cartoon physics than realistic physics. Having fixed celestial objects is just a consiquece of having a playable game.

YUP your right they don't have this in the game. AS OF YET.
Now when the hardware technology is there and and we all have OC3's connections we just may see this.
All this has nothing to do with hardware at all. For example the Infinity Project has an excellent universe where all the above works, you can land on planets seamingless and so on. And it doesn't need too much hardware. All that is done because it has a different game engine.
The main focus in Eve is not on 'realistic' or better a believable universe. It focus on pvp in a broad sense and a nice economy system.

Ha! I hereby claim that I am stationary, and it is in fact the rest of the universe which is moving around me! -

Don't say that. You will destroy the universe :p
Edit: I should clarify that sentence, no one person has more right than another to claim that they are stationary.

you do realize its not "fan fiction" like the many star wars books people of written. its actual lore that is part of the game, not stuff written by fans for fun. also if you aren't going to read why things are the way they are, don't complain about them.

This has been explained already in the backstory of this game. Linky
To quote the relevant part:
Quote: After a while Anu's voice came back: "You're doing very well. Now we are going to activate the audio synthesizers." "Audio synthesizers? What do you mean?" Pirkotan thought. "As you know there is no sound in space, but when we were developing the capsules we found that people wanted to use as many of their senses as possible, thus we added the sound. By letting a computer create three dimensional sound we also add to the awareness you have while in battles, for instance."

My thoughts on why implants are 1m3 is because they are plugged into the pod itself, not the person or clone inside the pod WANTED: Someone to go to Jita with me. This is not a joke. Eve mail me PO BOX *snip* Ashela, Genesis. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring own ship. Safety not guaranteed. |

Implants are on the body, not the pod. If they were all on pods, we wouldn't need to worry about jumpclones destroying our implants.
Furthermore, the icons make it quite obvious that they're all on the body. ---------------
