I think it would be a very good industry if people could carry other pilots. Like, for example, a businessman has to go deep into null-sec, but is worried about getting podded. So he contracts out the services, and is shuttled to the destination. |

Okay I see your point because a serious industrialist neither has the skills nor experience necessary to fly a ship into deep null. Simply put training all those market and MFG skills as well as research and such does not leave a lot of time to train for combat. Truthfully, if someone is good at playing the markets while sitting in station they don't have what it takes to even safely fly around in High Sec much less low and null. That said if you are this person what the hell do you need to "physically" go into low for? I am not sure what the need to go into low without the skills to fly there yourself and stay as safe as possible is. |

I was thinking last night on my short drive home how it might be interesting to see CCP take the whole "multi-player" thing one step further and convert super-caps into multi-player-required ships: takes two or more pilots working in conjunction to operate the super caps. I think that would add a whole new level to the multi-player aspect that they're pushing REAL hard on the subscriber base. If it requires multiple pilots to interact to use the biggest, most powerful ships in the game then that effectively forces the subscriber base into exactly what CCP wants. |

Exactly, it forces more users to get more alts on more accounts so that they can operate a super cap alone, just like CCP wants.
This game, in many ways, was effectively ruined from what it could be when they let people have multiple alts playing at the same time... |

Moms (supercarriers) used to do this to an extent in that you could install jumpclones on them, but no-one used them to any great effect afaik.
I still have hopes that Titans will eventually become what some of us thought they should be before they actually came to be:
Offensive Mobile Outposts combining traits of stations and POS's, docking, unlimited corp hangers, super-speedy manufacturing, shield bubbles, guns, and lots more guns, all piloted and controlled by multiple different pilots in separate roles, seriously powerful and very deathable with the most epic killmails ever |

What they need to do is allow you to jump with subcapitals in carriers, and give them a real usage. Trash the fighter bays and let me launch 15 real players in frigates.. That's what the super carrier should have been imo. |

If the driver Logs off the ship safe warp after the ship vanishes the docked players appear in mid space.
If the ship is destroyed the passenger appear as floating pods near the wreck (pretty much as what happens now when your ship explodes)
How i envision this?
Now ppl can Operate pos guns from their ships.
Let's allow that a shipless friendly pod can dock up into a Capital size vessel on the same way it does in stations.
Inside the Cap he can get his own spin image of the cap but totally unable to maneouver it, but just get access to a new kind of weapons only he can manage. maybe smaller size guns like Large or Med guns, (this way the capital remains pretty much as they are now but extra players bring some extra defense against smaller craft)
Now let's configurate a fixed side for each docked player. (one manage left side, another the right side) just like the Old gun stations from the B-17 Flying fortress.

This would be a great mechanic. I would say add a little to it and make it an industry. Allowing gate and station guns to pod players who have a low enough sec status would justify the introduction of new smuggling hull modules that can allow pilots to smuggle pods into high sec where they can be jettisoned at a safe spot. Jettisoned pods then go about their business. Of course the transport ship would have to be able to pick up pods in space per the previously mentioned gate gun podding mechanic. Introducing a timer that would auto eject if the pods were not manually jettisoned and if the transporter A. logged off or B. took too long would keep "hostage" situations from arising. Of course the same modules would be able to be used to facilitate normal transport. I can even imagine a t3 version for running null sec pipes.
Player transport services could even lead to wonderful pinata kill mails. |

I also agree that being able to carry passengers would greatly enhance Eve. No more flying alone to pick up another expensive craft and having to leave the first one there, instead just take a friend and both fly back.
They can do this in virtual worlds like Second Life - if the owner of the vehicle logs off then the passengers and the craft remains in-world. Usually the craft can only be controlled by the owner but there are craft that can be controlled by others. In Second Life though there is no way to track a logged off person's location relative to craft, they can only login at their last location, their Home or a specified sim.
Of course there are certainly more difficulties to overcome in Eve as the above posts have pointed out - such as should a passenger be able to eject during flight in case the pilot is a crook/nutcase/enemy. Anyhow hopefully it will come soon although I doubt it as the changes needed would be huge.
Perhaps if we occasionally keep raising this issue and CCP see it as cost effective then it might come about. |

I think it could be done so if drivers ship gets to 50% structure, they all gets launched out.
If driver logs off, his ship warps out, then shoot passengers off at safe spot.

They tried something like this I think when they were planning on introducing titans. The database could not handle 2 players in one ship. It kept crashing out and having issues. If they worked on it for a few months or maybe longer. Might even be a year or more then maybe they could find a way to get it to work. But with all the old code still being there and not all the devs being original devs that worked with the original . It will take them a while to replace stuff and add something new like that. They first have to completely understand how the old stuff managed to work in the first place and what sort of messed up gods the devs were praying and giving offerings of alcoholic substances to. |

Because the day those get introduced, I'll buy one, load it up with victims, and never let them off.
Also, when ships like covops frigates exist, there is literally no reason to ever feel worried about travelling somewhere alone. Its basically impossible to die in one, even if you take a gate into a 500 man 20 bubble gate camp. A vote for Akirei is a vote for Awesome! |

It probably will never be implemented just because of all the ways things could go terribly wrong.
1. Ship gets suicide ganked killing everyone on board 2. Pilot self destructs 3. Pilot is a dumbass and goes somewhere dangerous getting everyone killed 4. Pilot goes AFK 5. Pilot logs out while you are still in his ship, trapping you there. 6. Pilot takes all the passengers somewhere far away and just leaves them there. 7. Pilot refuses to let passengers go 8. Pilot some how does an action to get him CONCORDed killing everyone 9. Pilot accidentally jettisons you 10.Pilot is carrying something illegal and causes everyone to get in trouble.

Could just use the existing courier contracts too.
Imagine:
1. Right Click on Jump Clone -> "Unplug" 2. Makes an item called "[yourname]'s Clone" 3. Create Courier Contract 4. Item gets transported, stolen, destroyed, etc 5. If it arrives, finish contract 6. Right Click on item -> "Install Clone" 7. Functions like a normal Jump Clone after that
edit: The "Jump Clone" items would probably have to somehow count as a Jump Clone as far as Infomorph Psychology is concerned. Otherwise someone could just have a bunch of "unplugged" clones everywhere, without limit. |

I am sure that eventually after DUST 514 gets going and walking in stations gets more interactive you will be able to dock in say a super carrier and hang out in a pilots lounge rather than getting ejected to your pod. |

At the least it would be nice to see with maintenance bays be able to carry ships that have pilots in them. It would turn carriers into real carriers.
It would, of course, make it much easier to gank miners by flying in an Orca with pilots loaded up in their gank ships of choice.
Mechanics that might need to be implemented to prevent using hangars to get around certain current mechanics:
1. Security status of the pilot of the carrier is subject to the lowest sec status of those being carried. This would be to retain the limited freedom of travel that people with -5.0 or lower currently have to deal with. 2. The overview icons would need to be changed to indicate a ship is carrying pilots (side note: this would *not* be indicated on d-scan, and the overview would not indicate the number of pilots) 3. Carrier ship pilots would have settings they could put in place which would allow them to prevent other pilots from docking based on things like security status, GCC, etc. This is to prevent someone from "getting a ride" with a carrier, un-docking, getting GCC, then re-docking instantly in order to gank the carrier pilot.
There are all sorts of bad things people could do with this sort of feature, but I would think that for alliances and corporations, it would make a huge difference. FC's would have more control for jumping a small squad all at once. This could, potentially, increase the production of Orcas intended for use as cargo ships in low-sec. Dock up a couple pilots which can defend if needed. Smaller corps could also venture into low and bring two hulks with them to mine the belts.
Oh, and leave maintenance hangars un-scannable. That way they know, by the overview, that you have pilots on board, but they don't know how many, and they don't know what said pilots are flying. This would make fleet composition very difficult to determine, and allow for strategies to be developed by FC's to shoot for the element of surprise.

Only decent response is the one above mine. Always the same round here, someone asks something and it's always a combination of- Why it can't be done, why it shouldn't be done, troll, spam, more troll and back to why it can't be done. Very rarely read a post that contains How could we make it happen. " I spent most of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." -George Best-á |

You used to be able to scoop pods into cargohold and the person would be trapped.
