Ships in this game kill other ships by shooting, whether it be lasers, artillery, missiles, whatever. I'm fine with that, but we can do better. Let us open our minds, be creative, and envision ships that fight in other ways.
IDEA
What about a largish ship type (subcap, at least battleship-size, probably larger), possibly classified as a 'salvage' ship, which would open a set of jaws and 'swallow' other ships? Don't laugh, hear me out. It would perhaps use stealth (cloaking) to close in on its targets. It wouldn't fit 'weapons' (lasers, etc), however it would have a good tank and it might fit something like webbing to slow its prey down (perhaps it would even be bonused for webs, maybe cloak). Perhaps it could fit a special tractor beam module that tractored ships into it's maw.
Anyway, here's the kicker: once it swallows a ship, that ship winds up in its cargo hold, and the pilot of the 'maw' ship is free to do whatever he wants with it :) I imagine the pilot of the 'victim' ship dies (is podded), but he could always eject before the inevitable.

a racial modual that has a doomdays like apporach to attacking.
like a caldari one could be a giant mag cannon, amarr a giant LAZER!, minmatar can get something rusty and explody!, galente who knows.
it;s purpse? to kill BC + sized ships the fastest!

A kung-fu tactical destroyer that changes shape, not to gain different bonuses, but to violently apply karate-chop to other ships in melee range and do damage that way. Basically, you spam the button to go from the straight configuration to the 90 degree / vertical configuration, and thus (*****-)slap nearby ships in the process, doing DPS.
A new type of MJD, where if you jump your 100km distance THROUGH a ship, it takes damage cause you passed through it. So you just spastically jump through it over and over again, like a ghost passing through a person.
Harpoon defense for mining barges: when an attacker comes near, you shoot your harpoon, then proceed to use the harpoon line to bash the attacker against two nearby rocks repeatedly, like it happens in cartoons or like the Hulk did to Loki. Higgs Anchor rig required for this to work. |

We need ships with pincers. Giant space pincers.
Also, ships that are explosive; you fly towards the enemy, and at the point where you'd be bumping, your ship actually explodes, doing damage.
They should also enlarge all those moving bits and rotating gears on the mining barges, so they can do damage, like spiked truck wheels / sawblades.
The Magnate is mostly engines; CCP should introduce "weaponized boosters" that instead of consuming, you add to the engine / afterburner to create noxious exhaust that does damage like during mercoxit mining. So all you have to do is fly around the enemy to envelop it in your ... cloud, to kill it, or at least make it pass out, ECM-like. |

A battleship sized hull similar to the Large Weapon BCs (Oracle, Naga ... etc)
Low EHP, no drones but able to fitt XL weapons. DPS lower then a dread but higher then a standart BS. Bad tracking like a dread.
Their main role would be support DPS vs caps and supercaps. Their main weakness would be that they cant defend themselfs from anything and have low EHP compared to a standart BS.

Graffiti / holiday lasers, to complement the fireworks and snowball launchers. Shoot them at another player's ship, and you change their SKIN, temporarily. Up to CCP to introduce some graffiti skins, and some holiday-themed skins.
Mischief gun: shoot it at another ship, and it changes that ship to a completely different (random) ship.
Bubble-morph dictor / HIC: This ship cannot launch or create bubbles of its own, but if it activates its module at an existing bubble, that bubble gets changed from spherical shape to dickbutt shape.
I-Win autocannon: shooting this weapon generates a fireworks-like explosion of little "gf" sprites, to replace the "gf" spam that goes on in local after every fight. |

A low slot weapon upgrade module that gives all weapons systems a 5000% tracking and damage bonus against T3 destroyers. |

IMO that should be T3 cruisers:
Require a pilot for each subsystem. Require the subsystems to assemble together in space to form the T3 cruiser.
Distribute the UI to the 5 pilot screens, so that they each have control ONLY over their respective aspect of the ship. Engines, targeting, capacitor/energy, weapons, etc. |

What about a special bridge ship? It can act as a cross between a titan bridge and a Microjump field generator. All fleeted (or maybe all just to cause problems) ships in say a 5-10km range (including the bridging ship) are jumped to the cyno. Increase fatigue timers as a balance maybe. And the module that does this could have various limitations like one use and done or burns out on use. Warp scrambling the ship could prevent activation. Limited light year jump distance. Who knows. Just a way to add in a bit more fleet mobility without being overkill and going back to the days of Supers going everywhere.
Industrial siphon ship... A ship with a special module that allows for siphoning from pos or drilling platform. Maybe the siphoning module could act like a bastion or seige module locking the ship in place but temporarily improving survivability.
Honestly, I've always wanted a mobile factory ship, science vessel, or something. I have an Indy alt. He can invent and construct any ship in the game including titans pretty much. He can fly... An ibis. Ok maybe a hair more than an ibis, but at best an Indy hauler or the like. Obviously it would take more skills, but well, why not. Maybe it could be a sort of orca for exploration groups. It could have low mass and vastly improved core probes but they could be slower scan speed than normal. It could also have ship hangar, fleet hangar, and minor boosts to repair drones. Basically a flying mobile exploration base. Or a mobile factory that can produce small mods and items at a taste for cheaper pace when logged in but must be in low or nul and can't be tethered while manufacturing.
As for a normal set of ships... I still want a T1 armor/missile based faction. |

Ships that aren't ships, but rather a whole bunch of (rogue?) drones flying in tight formation, like a school of fish.
Zombified ships that are actually wrecks of ships / collections of ship parts held together by (rope-like) rogue drones, where they energize and use the various left-over weapons and systems that are still intact in the wreckage they've captured. Should be animated strangely. Should rope in new nearby wrecks as they become available, regaining hit points.
A new type of ewar that causes uncontrollable overheating. Possibly used by rogue drones as they "hack" systems on the player ship to disable them / burn them out.
A new type of cloak that is actually just an electronic signature disguise for d-scan and probes. Instead of invisibility or d-scan immunity, you just make your ship appear to be another ship (of similar size) in d-scan / for probes. No effect on the Overview or the visual appearance of your ship on grid.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

This part needs to be added as new (or reworked) NPC's, STAT!!

These two would be interesting if done right, though I'm partial to the second one, and a bit leery of the first.
