It's not Charon like "ch" = chalk or "ch" = cherry
It's pronounced "kair-on", as in "Cher" = Kerr in "Kerry"
Care-on would be a slightly exaggerated version of it. But it's not a soft ch, it's a hard ch. As in Chemistry, Chameleon etc.
Just so you can now resume sleeping at night, and all.

Nope, English, but I can tell you it's a hard "ch" not a soft one :)

I see it more of a kair-on rather than a kai (kai rhyming with eye, and kair rhyming with bear/care, just slightly shorter)

Chemistry and Chameleon have silent h's.
yes so it's a "hard" c, (or ch), as I said.
As opposed to say, cyprus which has a soft "c", or Charlie which has a soft "ch".

I think also Cerberus is meant to be pronounced with a hard c (as in kerberus) but I'm not sure. It's alternate spelling is apparently Kerberos.

I used to call them caracels, like the merry go round, until someone shouted at me on TS and I looked more closely at the spelling

Originally by: Akita T What drives me crazy is that Charon is the son of Nyx and Erebus. So, why is a Caldari freighter named after the son of the Gallente Mothership and Titan ?
It's not. I was bothered by that myself seeing as the Caldari tend to name their ships after animals (mythical or otherwise). Seems there's a type of "Tailless Whip Scorpion" called Charon. Seeing as that is a type of animal I suspect somehow the ship is named after that rather then the Greek mythology.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amblypygid_genera
That's a bit obscure, whereas it being a freighter, and being a ship of the dead / captain / driver / pilot of a ship that ferries things, the mythological one makes more sense to me...
