Is there a mod or rig that will get me some more range out of torpedos, atm 10 km is all I get, my torp skill is at lvl 4, other then buying a golem or rattler so far I dont know of any other way. |

Train Missile Bombardment and Missile Projection, they affect missile range (speed x flight time).
On a different note, don't use torps for pve unless it's a Golem or a bomber. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. |

Maxed should put Torpedo Range to 20km.

These Rigs.
T2 Javelin Torpedoes have a 50% Range Increase as well. Ships like the Raven / Golem get a 10% Range Increase per level, the Rattler gets a flat 50% Bonus. Bombers get a 20% Range Increase.
I am counting both Flight Time and Velocity as Range. One makes the Missile Fly Longer the other Faster. Velocity is what you want.

I really hope you've never flown a CNR or tengu much, otherwise the golem is probably disappoint you as much as it did me.
I've got absolutely max'ed skills for a golem, but I almost never fly the one i've got. It's a lumbering ox that has to try really hard to gore anything with it's torps. You end up essentially using Jav torps 90% of the time and getting decent dps, but not the spectacular figures you'd expect from something that can only clear the big numbers on equally fat and slow things.
On the bright side, if you like micro-management (heh), a proper golem fit with three painters will definitely excite you. |

Well, the reason i was looking into torps more is the mission Vengence....nothing I did could kill the named BS, I killed everything else with my drake but could not break that rat, finally I got my scorpion navy issue fitted with torps and webber drone and killed that BS in less then 30 sec...so I took note how effective torps were in that case. |

The Skill you use to fly your ship. The Skill for the Weapon you are using. Warhead Upgrades Rapid Launch
Then equip a higher meta weapon system until you get T2 Launchers.

To be honest im trying to be a cheap bastard by turning my T-1 scorp into a sort of rattler, - the big drone bay, as I have been experimenting, the DPS on both seem to be comperable, with the Rattler getting a bit more DPS but not like so high that there is a great devide between them, so instead of 500+ mil i could deck out T-1 scorp and still get an almost similar ship. I tried it, it does work, but the range limitation of 10 km makes it a bit wonky, maybe when my 2 skills are at lvl 5 (3 right now) and the rigs it could be almost as effective (because of drones) as rattler, but I have great drone skills so its not much of a sacrifice. |

Forget Torpedoes and go with Cruise Missiles. The lower DPS is made up by the range and accuracy of the ship. If you want effective Torpedoes you need a Golem with HIGH Skill. You need it's bonuses to support the short range inaccurate weapon.

yes, I do agree, but torps do kill rat BS faster then cruisers do, although the range cant be beat for cruise missles, but I would like to have a torp boat sitting in the hanger for certain missions torps really shine, IMHO of course, but I did go out and buy those rig bpo's for the ship, any luck I will turn that scorp into a bit more effective torp boat. |

Yes torps might kill BS's faster but there's still cruisers and battlecruisers :) since cruises can hit all 3 relatively well, that's why they shine for pve over torps

There is also the time it takes to get into range to consider. Once you get your skills up Cruises will pop Battleships in a few volley's. The Time it takes to switch to a Torpedo Boat to get into range and hit your targets is much longer.
For this ship Cruise Missiles are better, you just have to skill them up a bit. |

In addition to the stuff quoted above then if I remember correct then there should be few hardwires as well that give a bit more range to missiles - although these slots are most of the time better filled with more useful stuff. |

- you're using a ship that does the same dps as a Raven while costing way more, sell the NScorp and get a Navy Raven instead - the fact that you don't have the missile range skills leads me to assume that you're probably lacking tons of other skills as well. if you want to find out go to www.eveboard.com upload your API there and link your char skills in this thread so we can then have a look and see if there's improvements to be made - you use torps, as I stated earlier don't use torps outside golems and Bombers for pve, even though it might help you with BSs - your fit probably could also use some streamlining, so if you want help with that post what you have fitted atm.
To give you an idea of a proper fit, have a look at this Raven setup. It uses cap boosters because that frees up the rig slots for rigor rigs which massively increase your applied dps. Also it keeps your lows free to use for BCS which increase your overall dps. Any PVE Raven fit that doesn't fit rigors and doesn't have at least 3 BCS is very much below par. Fitting torps to it would be a big nono as well.
