I've come back to my account after a while off, and my clone state is currently Alpha, but my un-logged in to account is showing as currently in-space in a non-tech1 frigate / destroyer / cruiser.
What will happen if I log in? Will I get kicked from my ship in space, or can I stay in it until I dock in a station? |

hrm, good question.
Asking around, I'm hearing two stories.
1. You are automatically moved to a station. Apparently this happened to someone in a WH.
2. You can fly the ship around but none of the modules you don't have the skills for will work.
My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

I saw a blue reply stating that you will be able to move your ship and warp, but nothing beyond that. So, you should be able to dock up and switch ships. |

You can fly the ship till you're docked , you're not going to be able to use anything on the ship requiring non alpha skills as they will offline.

Then you'll probably have to jump 40 jumps through null in a carrier with which you cannot use any of the mods/fighters... good luck!
In this situation, you're probably best off not going alpha at all, or if you do, don't ever log in the toon in the carrier until you're omega again.
if on the other hand you don't plan on going omega ever again, you might as well go out in a ball of fire. |

I've heard of GMs giving players who have been away for a long time teleports to safe(er?) space, but that is all hearsay.

The "rules" would be that it breaks immersion and allows an action that would otherwise not be possible. If the player returning is part of a major null sec entity it could also affect current war(s) and the GM might decide that it's up to the Corp/Alliance to save their corpmate.

There are no "rules" on immersion in this game, never have been and likely never will be so that aspect of your argument is moot.
There is no illegal actions going on here. The op simply wants to get a character and the ship they are in out of space. You can argue rules and immersion all you want but when the OP logged that character off for that last time it was and in fact it still is legal to leave a character in a ship in space when you log off. It is not the OP's fault that CCP changed the game while they were on an extended period away from the game.
I do not buy into the disrupting the balance of power argument. First one single ship is not going to make any noticeable difference in the balance of power unless the GM drops it directly into a fight. CCP has made some bonehead decisions in the past but I simply do not see them EVER dropping a ship they are moving for a player anywhere but in a station, POS shield or tethered to or docked in a citadel.
However going with your concerns for the delicate balance of power, what is the difference between a new ship being produced and launched into the game in the same system, versus the GM simply moving the ship to that system from somewhere else? In both cases a new ship is in the system and available to someone to use, so if moving a single ship breaks the balance of power then we need to eliminate the ability to produce ships because every time a player produces a ship it changes the balance of power. |

When I logged in as a Alpha after 3 years out of eve. I was in space in Mack. None of the strip miners(which out not in the Alpha's capabilities)were grayed out and couldn't be used. Computer died while out mining.
I didn't know where I was or what system I was and how far I had to go. So I parked in the closest station till I could figure out what to do.
When I figured out where I was, was 5 jumps out of my home system and now I couldn't get my mack out of the station
No cuts, no butts, no coconuts!
