I'm reading your words carefully so when you say taht, you won't be removing the death cost in EVE! does that mean you will still implement the CONCORD contract feature in low sec space ?
You better be joking...again

I have to say when I read the blog I was quite ticked off.. i was about to cancel my accouts for good. Tho I did like the aspect of the clones myself but I looked at it in a way that if there were a true thing that would totaly kill the market. Tho on the other hand everyone and thier momma would be combat pvping due to there is no lose factor. aslong as you had isk to reinsure your new clone and ship then you would always be ganking and killing. but that not My Eve. I have been playing since beta and I Like things they way they are and for CCP to play a dirty low down rotten joke like that almost cost them to lose 2 faithful Accounts.
But lets talk about the Insurance. Anyword on insurance payout not being given to those suicide gankers? Once you get this Robotech thing in your blood its there to stay... |

The day that hits Tranquility, is the day we quit Eve.
1. clones and implants: NO! The risk with implants is why I have an love them. You'd better start introducing giant morgues that disect brins and salvage implants to make more of them based on BPCs. 2. Ship insurance needs overhauling, especialy t2 part and modules part (why not insure domi webber or what not). but the rest is pure garbage.

If concord ever hit low sec, the entire PvP system will crumble in to what the Trammel facet did to Ultima Online.
And then.... I'll quit.

Pretty good Aprils fool story, had me going still with the clones, since I was reading this 2 days later then I "should have"
Unfortunately the rest went overboard too bad, and I caught on the joke before reading all the ridiculous insurance stuff.
Next year, more subtle joke on us, please (Atleast up here in north, best are the ones that most people don't get until explained to - making them the real fools)
Thank's!

I must admit, I was one of those people. I came onto the thread all ready to throw a tantrum, then I read the replies and was like... "D'oh!"
I always forget about April Fool's Day. -.-

Unfortunately the death penalty is one of the things that keeps the player base from growing. I know lots of people that play EVE love it, but I suspect that the majority of MMO players worldwide find it intolerable. It's a shame really.
For better or for worse, it's one of the things preventing EVE from becoming more than a niche MMO.
If the goal is to BE a niche MMO and "be true to EVE" whatever that means, then you're doing it perfectly. But if your goal is to gain large MMO market-share, then it's not going to happen the way things are now; as is evidenced by such a relatively small player-base.
I'm not trying to imply that I know what EVE should be - that's up to you guys at CCP, I wouldn't presume to do that, but I hope you don't mind me sharing some insight.
perhaps some may feel this but but tell me, what is the point in a death system if nobody actually loses anything? add pvp combat to the mix and you can see it would quickly become a rather pointless grind.
actions (stupid or otherwise) and tangible consequences > bubble wrapped players. imo ____________________

Nice, but jump clones need to be more flexible.
If i want to go to low sec, i must activate a jump clone (as i can't afford to lose my implants ATM), which costs me Skill Points for (at least) 24 hours, whether i get podded or not. Going to low sec can make me ISK, but not Skill Points. As long as my primary aim is to increase Skill Points, it would be stupid to go to low sec...

April Fools, the only day to ignore EVERYTHING information wise released on the internet.
April Fools aside. Insurance needs an overhaul something frackin cruel. Covert Ops for instance costs over 95 mill to configure and if u insure it you get sweet FA back. Why cant we put in a similar system for insurance that there is for rigs. eg. You insure a ship for the isk manufacturing value of the ship and all the modules and rigs on it. Your still going to be out of pocket the insurance money anyway. If you change the modules on your ship it voids the insurance contract. That will get people into the idea of specializing ships for tasks rather than just changing the setup when ever. It would be an inconvinience but alot less of an inconvinience of losing a 100mill frigate and getting 1-2mill back for it. Ive mentioned this in the past but it seems to always fall on deaf ears.

If a gaming companies haven't pulled the "changed everything fun about the game to make it 'more fun for everyone'" card before. I don't think people would be in such a panic from this supposed change.

Edited by: Trollin on 03/04/2007 17:12:46 the changes mentioned would destroy most industry.. but tbh, I would rather play a pvp game anyways.
so much of my time wasted finding ship/mods after loss. --------------------------------------------------- A word to the wise ain't necessary, its the stupid ones that need the advice |
