I am sick of this. This, is a complaint, ccp. WHY arent there any exhumer bpos on the market? I am currently flying a retriever, and training to fly the hulk. But in the rare instance that a hulk is available for purchase, it costs anywhere from 300 million to (usually) 500 million isk. The base price is only about 20 million!!! Since there aren't any BPOs on the market, making one myself is impossible. This needs to stop. The market NEEDS these things. It is unfair to a character like mine whose skills are totally geared towards mining and industry, as well as corporations in the business of building ships. What is the point in wasting 49 days to train exhumers to level 3 if there arent any exhumers to fly? Personally, I think that 20 million isk is far to cheap for a base price. It would be a steal! But 500 MILLION is too much! Just because it is called a Hulk doesn't mean it is a capital class ship, and it should not cost as much as one! Stop this monopoly, PLEASE! I KNOW I am not the only one out there thinking this.

Edited by: Emylissan on 04/04/2007 10:02:18 When you currently fly a retriever, wouldnt it better smarter to seek for a covetor?
I mean to search for a Battleship when just bought the first frigate IS a bit expensive and takes alot to skill for^^
It takes about 2 weeks or more to train the skills for the covetor when reached the skills for the retriever. And the Hulk is the tech2 equivalent to the covetor.

you are of course right. But before I can fly an exhumer, I must train astrogeology and mining barge to level 5. once I get to that point. I would buy a covetor, and continue to work my way towards a hulk, because, once I have a covetor, going for the Mackinaw would be like taking a step back down unless I am mining ice. So I intend to skip the first two exhumers and go straight for the hulk. I just wonder if there is any point in the effort....

That of course would work. But to train the skills for that would probably take me ANOTHER month or two. I shouldnt need to train for 5 months (ok, thats a SLIGHT exageration), just so I can fly a Hulk. Like I said before: its not like its a capital class ship. Also, beyond my own selfish desires ( ^-^ ) its causing a monopoly, which is not good for the game's economy....

The Hulk is the top of ORE technologie, so i guess, yes its their monopol. The tech 1 ships from the ore syndicate became common everywhere but their last and best ships arent easy to get. I think its already rare to get as a ready produced ship. Not to think about blueprints.
I guess such blueprints are the best cared secret of the ORE syndicate.
And if i am totaly wrong with that i dont mind :P

I dont think that the ore syndicate is a player controlled company. Player owned corps. should be able to go to the market, buy a bpo, and produce these things. Which DOES happen, but only in the coprs' lucky/rich enough to have aquired one, so they are free to charge an extremely unfair amount of money....at least I think so. Like I said, 20 mill would be a steal. I would gladly pay 100mill isk for a hulk. That would be fair. After all, you've got to spend money to make money, right? But 500mill is rediculous!

well either you wait up to 3 months till invention fixes the prices or you train the skills for yourself and pay about 1 bil for skills & data interfaces to invent your own hulks or you buy at current 400mil prices.
whining on a solved issue is just poor. so either wait or fund the monopolists wallets....

Edited by: Emylissan on 04/04/2007 10:21:31 No i dont think that to ORE syndicate is player controlled, but keep in mind one thing, to get stuff like ships, and their blueprints of a race, the best place to go is the territory of that race. Now the Ore territory is faw away from the empire systems afaik. So the best place to get a blueprint is to go there.

The ORE (T1, not T2, but at least you can buy and go to invention) blueprints are available in two Outer Ring (as in Outer Ring Excavations) systems. But, those systems are heavyly camped and it's quite impossible to get out of here alive and even more with a 2 billion covetor BPO in the cargohold! I don't know who holds the system but for all the miners I know, it is a big disappointment not to be able to buy any BPO from ORE at the standard price (you may find some at horrible prices in empire).
The ORE would just be rich (selling BPOs and prebuild equipement too) if they opened an office in empire, I just can't understand why they wouldn't do it (And it could make great storyline events).
Look at the last time the ORE sold some BPOs (can be seen in the corporation info in market activity tab), it's been a long time and the frequency seems to be really low (yeah, sometimes, someone manages to buy one, but did he get out of outer ring alive?). -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! Actually its very good for the economy. It keeps the prices high and makes it worth while for those that are on the invention path of the game to actually make some ISK once they reach the point of makkin T2 barges.
You cant expect everything to be handed to you on a golden platter. I dont. Yes i agree some things could be made better, but i am still willing to work hard to achieve goals.
When you get to the same level and maybe happen to have a BPO or a limite BPC of a t2 barge, would you still want them to nerf the monopoly?
As far as i am concerned, the only monopolies in this game are the BPO lottery which has been abolished, and 0.0 space. but i wont get on to 0.0 here as its the wrong place.

Just buy a Rokh, fit miner 2's and match a Retrievers ability to mine, plus, you can now actually tank more than a .8 frig. It's messed up.

What the OP fails to realize is that the price of the Hulk being 500,000,000 actually helps the market.
Imagine if the Hulk dropped to 50,000,000, now everyone that was borderline thinking about getting one would probably get one.
Now imagine influx of the ore that would occur. The prices would plummet.
The other day I sold 3,000,000 units of Pyerite for over 9 Isk per unit. That was 27,000,000 for an hour's worth of mining in my hulk, and that's not even including the trit that I got from mining Scordite.
20 Hours of work to pay back a 500m investment isn't bad.

i just looked at the market in Jita and exhumer ie hulks are dropping in price due to invention being able to invent bpc off the coveter bop's and they are in the game.

Yes T2 ships are over priced, Blah! Blah! Blah. GET OVER IT. Alot of T2 BPO's espicialy T2 Ship BPO's are extremely rare, and people that get them either sell them for big isk or start producing them themselves, when they look at the market prior to buying they see either don't see anything or they see the item they have to sell with a 1000% mark up, so they try to sell at the higest price and work there way down until people start buying.
Its the prople who buy over priced items that screw this all up, stop buying HULKS and the price will drop, same goes for everything.

At the end of the day peeps, the price of t2 kit compared to t1 is like a pair of Rebok trainers compared to a cheap pair. Your paying for the brand, and having the best kit. And thats all there is to it. And it isnt gonna change.
I'm working towards getting a chimera. Havent even got a 1/4 of what its gonna cost yet. But i dont complain because i know the kit is worth it (although some disagree).
The fact that things cost so much, set each player goals. Some ae lazy and want it all straight away. Not happening.
Its bad enough the fact that now CCP have done the character creation different it is now possible to fly a barge from day one. Somthing that wasnt possible when i started playing. Think yourselves lucky.

Edited by: Solar Blade on 05/04/2007 12:45:57 if you want to make a hulk with invention you have to fly to the ore syndicate regions in 0.0 (NPC stations) to buy a covetor BPO. they costs a huge sum of money though
(A billion ISK or something)( + Get the Blueprint past the pirate gatecamps and empire suicide pirates) Then you need BPC's, which means you need to copy the thing (its a very expensive BPO so I'd think you would do the research yourself.)
Then you need the datacores ext. (large sums of ISK here) and the needed skills trained to be able to do a good invention long training times are par. for the course if you want to have a decent chance at invention. especially for T2 ships.
then, if your lucky enough and get the BPC you need to make the thing (resources) (incl. 1x covetor + ORE + T2 parts)
now set a price for it..... see what I mean. even if it would be invented it would still be darn expensive... exhumers btw. the tier 1 and tier 2 exhumers arn't that expensive at all. the tier 3 (hulk) which you are talking about... is, and thats because of the reasons above. And thats only for invention.

ccp should have changed the t2 lottery not gotten rid of it. Would have been better if lottery bpos went out and 3 or so months later the t2 bpos came onto general market. research could have been used as a cheaper way to produce specific bpc's rather than having a few bpo cartels artificially inflating the prices of t2 ships and equipment. under the current system there is no way for an inventor to build the same item at a competative price. putting t2 bpos on market with a lottery at the same time would give lottery winners an advantage of time a head start if you will, but not a monopoly.

The idea of gettin rid of the T2 lottery was so that those that want to be industrialists/builders/inventors, can........eventually.
As mentioned earlier in this thread by peeps, and to sum it up, the fraustration came from the fact that industrialists worked there little drones into the ground trying to make ends meet, hoping to get somewhere on the science side of the game. Maybe wiith the added hope of winning the lottery.
The fact that T2 lottery has gone and people have to WORK towards getting the T2 kit now is a good thing. it means that those that are dedicated industrialists can work towards a goal. It was mentioned in another thread that industrialists felt that once they had trained all their skills, there was no further goal. Now they have.
This will also reduce the amount of PVP players who sit farming LP for T2 with an Indy alt, as their industrial character need to be active in order achieve the invention stage, this stops the loggin in of 10 indy alts all farming LP for the lottery, for ten minutes a day, (who would subsequently win all T2 lotteries as they had the higest skills/lp) then going of in their mains for the remainder.
Where as pure dedicated industrialsts can now stop worrying knowing that their choice to become industrialsts with their main has paid off, and may possibly have a future.
HOWEVER... T2 invention is not somthing that can be done alone. Although i have not achieved that lvl myself yet, it is to my understanding that a POS with ship manufacturing, (or any manufacturing) capabilities is required in order to build T2 kit. Not something that can be done solo. Or very difficulty to go alone anyways. It would require at least 5 or 6 peeps who play regularly, to achive in a good space of time.
