Many people may be unaware of this, but each corp is limited to a small number (300) of corporation standings slots. For many corporations, this is not a problem. For 0.0 alliances, where corporation standings and not alliance standings are used to control docking access, station services access, and POS actions, there are many potentail for problems. If an alliance wants to grant their friends docking rights, but has their 300 slots filled already, there is not really anything that can be done.
As far as I can tell, the number is essentially arbitrary, since the number of alliance relationships which can be set is not limited at all. The number of corp standings that can be set needs to be raised significantly, or removed entirely.
Alternatively, there could be the option to use alliance level standings to control access if an alliance wishes.
While this may seem unimportant to some, it is of huge significance to others, and does not seem to be a huge thing to fix.

It seems natural that if you assume the average corporation has 50 members (just as an example), and the the number of players in EVE increases, there will be more 50-man corps that need standings set in order to be allowed to dock. 300 may have been very adequate at one time, but EVE is a very ambitious and rapidly growing game, and this should really be adjusted accordingly.
Doing things like merging corporations or creating another corporation to handle different stations could work, but that's just working around an archaic game mechanic in need of an update. (And before anyone even starts, no, alliance standings cannot be set to other alliances for docking, it needs to be corp-to-corp) Its an unnecessary headache, and it wouldn't be too much to ask for those with power to change a 300 to, say, 600, or 1000 next patch, which I believe is scheduled for a week or so.
It could be that something like this was already planned for when CCP releases their new constellation sovereignty ideas or completes the starbase overhaul, but in the interim, people need to be able to set more standings now.

As someone before me said, I imagine this was fine when this stuff was implemented but EVE is rapidly growing. An increase of standing slots will help out everyone, even if there are only a few corps that benefit from it immediately.

I know CCP wants to encourage more folks to move into 0.0 space. Removing this limitation will go a long way to support that goal.

I agree. Limiting the corp standings to 300 has several impacts, all of which discourage players from being members of smaller corporations. Aside from docking rights, Corporate (and not Alliance) standings apply to POS's as well. This means large alliances can be very friendly with each other, but not be able to help defend each other POS (most POS set to shoot on standings < 1).
Please, CCP. Lift the limit on Corp standings, or at least make Alliance standings valid for docking and POS's. Players should be free to be in small corps, and not forced into large ones based on game limits like this.

Agreeing with this as well. With the amount of individual corporations in EVE growing every day it would only be smart to increase the standings limit a single corporation can have. Especially if the end goal or rather, one of the goals is more involvement in 0.0 space by the player base.
The game is supposed to mimic the real world, to an extent, of course. You don't hit a cap on how many friends you can have in the real, or how many companies you can have business with, so why should there be one here? :)
In short, the cap needs to be gone, or raised.

Yeah, either do that or allow corp->alliance standings. I don't know how crazy the standings code is (I suspect "very crazy") but that would solve so many issues, free up space, and remove hassle and tedium much like killing instas did.

This needs to be implemented as soon as possible, it can't wait for the POS overhaul because of the immediate limitations it places on corporations. It's important to bring more people into 0.0 space and further the overall development of the game.

I also agree with this.
I was leading a suicide gank gang yesterday and jumped into a system with a friendly camp, several neutrals jumped in behind us and I called for them to be killed. Half way through pew pewing them local lights up with the friendlies demanding cease fire.
Spent the next few minutes confirming that the friendlies were in good standing and finding out why their friendlies didn't appear blue to us. The simple answer was they couldn't be set as blue to us as we've reached the 300 limit.
To be honest if that limit has been reached friendly fire will become a lot more common and no one wants that.

Come on CCP this one should be easy, what strikes me is that 300 isn't even the max value of any standard data structure so this limit has been purposefully imposed at some point. Someone has made a gross underestimate of level of growth this game is capable of.
Waiting on 65536 slot limit.

I don't know if they have done this yet but:
Alliance members are autoset to 10 without the need of setting on each corp to 10.
Make it so alliances can set standing towards another alliance. This way not every lil corp inside will have to set standings unless those standing are different then what the main body of the alliance wants.
Wartargets are autoset to -10 without using slot points
That would leave the current 300slots more manageable as most of the slots are into alliance members, alliance relations and war. leaving little or none for normally neutral corporation's to have relations with these alliances.

As so many have said before me, this is an idea whose time has come. Please enable alliance-to-alliance standings or at least increase the number of corporations for which an alliance can set standings from the present inadequate 300 to something more reasonable like 5000.
To sum up, I am very interested the OP's suggestion and would subscribe to his newsletter if he had one.
