Agent missions are presented randomly no doubt about that, yet seems they are chosen from a very small pool of 5 or 6 missions, is this on purpose or the algorithm is flawed?
This has been an issue since 2012 and yet seems nothing has been done to correct it, and don't tell me missions are an insignificant part of Eve Online as they are an important part of the Standings grinding mechanic which can be tedious at best, so why not make it a bit more pleasant with a wider variety of missions.
Kudos to all Devs, GMs and ISDs for the great work making Eve Online a fantastic game experience. |

Each agent will only uses a small sub set of the entire mission pool and I have not seen that his sub set ever changes. Since each agent has a sub set of the entire pool they draw from changing to another agent from the same NPC will often get you a different set of missions to run.
Yes it is about time CCP did some major work on the PvE side of the game, but alas that is not likely to happen anytime soon based on the changes we see implemented in the game over the past year or so. |

The pool is variable in size between agents. The agents I routinely visit have around 15GÇô20 security missions to choose from, and around 10 distribution missions. The pool appears to be determined by the agent's empire/corp, the sovereignty they operate in (a Carthm agent in Domain has a slightly different set of missions to the same level Carthum agent elsewhere).

That's what the "Decline" option is for...

I used that to avoid Empire faction missions (don't want to worsen my standings)
In a way it makes sense that a certain agent would have a specific set of "jobs" to offer as an employer would in RL. But this is a game and as such it would be nice for it to be more entertaining... and not have to constantly waste time moving around just to find missions with a different theme... I'm not travelling to Domain for a L3 mission that might be a bit different. then again i just might when I feel like it.
I know most players view PvE players as sissy but it is a personal gaming style to each their own.
Still a great game, just could be better that's all, seems like it wouldn't take much to make this improvement and have any given agent pull from the whole pool of missions or at least a wider selection.

I've rescued The Damsel so many times that every once in a blue moon I pod her cargo container just to keep things interesting... If EVE ever introduces a 'Kobayashi Maru' scenario for PvE I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.

I have two level 4 security agents in my station, and I pull missions with my alt also. my observations lead me to believe that missions are selected from a smaller sub-pool of missions. that sub-pool is shared across both agents. and that it changes regularly, my guess is that it changes daily. sometimes I get the same missions from both agents or for both characters. sometimes I get the same mission twice on the same day, and then not get it for a long time. it also seems that sub-pools arent completely random. they tend to favor drone missions for example, or those crappy Sansha or Blood Raider missions (in Gurista space) with multiple rooms and large distances between NPC group spawns. |

Well as if to prove me wrong or as if someone saw this post and did something about it... on my last L3 mission (4.99 Corp standings) I get one I've never seen (not even documented on the Survival Guide Mission Reports) called "The Excuse" in which I get to blow up some monuments then the local police that show up without standings loss what so ever. How's that for entertaining novelty!
Then the 1st L4 I get is an optional mission called "Anomic Base", totaly new to me (and also undocumented) and quite difficult I gather. I need to find out more about this before I rush into a suicide mission. Most likely decline as the stakes seems way too high. I'm not risking several hundred million of assets for a small 3 - 4 mil reward. But my curiosity is picked and I'm hitchin to find out more about this mission, probably fly a cheap frig into it and see what happens, hopefully get to document it as even failing this mish doesn't incur any penalties or standings loss.
So I have to take back that we always get the same old boring mishes... |

The "Anomic" set of missions are burner missions for well equipped smaller ships, there is a long thread about them in this forum. Get used to them popping up 3-4 in a row. |

Anomic burner missions require very specific fits and skills to complete. Feel free to fly a cheap frig into one, but you'll only get about 10 secs (or less!) of observation before you're in your pod.
There are some great threads here, but this site is probably one of my favorite guides for running them:

This is the definitive thread for discussion and fittings though:

it was really cool watching someone else do the gurista burner base, given how little other people have talked about it I was wondering if anyone else had even tried it.
