I like to get the agent missions quickly and well a quick ship is always useful. I know that the Vigil is the fastest frigate but what would be the fastest Indi and crusier to use?
I'm mostly looking for something with a good top speed with overdrives, I start doing something else and forget to switch on the ab's or mwd until I'm ontop of the gate :)

Its all in the mods. Get some nanofiber mods and thrusters. Any cruiser will be good. I have a Vexor. --------------------------

minmatar ships has the fastest agility & speed... i like the stabber, fastest & biggest cruiser(cargo)... or a rupture if u need a little drones as backup, or the 2 extra lowslots :D

Crusiers aren't too bad, only use one for the kill missions. I'm a bit more intrested in the indi's, been haveing a look through eve-db.com and it looks like the bestower is good. 4 low slots and a base speed of 125 m/s anything better out there?

Well, if you have the money, a BB would be better than an indy.
I haven't come across a level 3 cargo load my Typhoon can't handle. *knocks on wood* You can get the hold over 1500 m3 with basic expanders. Agility is a problem by straight line speed is fine.

I personally use an Omen. It's a cruiser with the ability to pack enough firepower for kill missions. With all of the low slots, you can use all expanders for the large cargo missions or all overdrives for speedy missions.

Edited by: Mrissa Easeah on 30/12/2003 19:17:56 For a budget mission runner (Transport/Courrier only) I use Probes with a MWD and an AB in the mids, and two cargo expanders in the low slots.
Can kick 2k/sec pretty fast on single pulses to make the gates. Goes fast without the speed modules, and carries around 550m3 ... big enough for all level II missions ... dunno about some of the level III's though.

It's not the fastest ship you need, it's speed and cargo space. I find the Kestrel has good speed and a decent cargo space (305). With mods I can get my speed up to 643 m/s, faster than a shuttle. With those mods my cargo space goes down to 247. More than enough to carry most of the cargo from my lvl 3 agent. I use a Badger MK II to carry anything my Kestrel can't. ______________________

As for the big hauling missions that lvl3s can give (2000+ cargo), take a mammoth. Low slots with as much ods as your cargo size allows and the rest nanos. 2 cruiser abs and 1 frig ab gives you around 500 m/s that's as fast as any indy goes (no a mk5 isnt an indy but a crazy ship for crazy people (lvl5 in indy *shrugs* lvl4 was bad enough). -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

I use several depending on the size of the courier mission, incursus <100m3, thorax 100-200m3, imicus<400m3, vexor<900m3, bestower <10k ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I use a shuttle for the < 10m3 missions, there aren't many of these left post Castor but a few.
I use a Vigil for the < 250m3 missions, I can do about 70% of the missions in this ship. With a 1MN MWD I can easily get this ship up to 2500m/s or higher depending on the mods.
I use a Stabber for the kill and < 600m3 missions; and if necessary an indy for the really big courier missions. I usually outfit the indy with injectors & 10MN ABs and can get pretty decent speeds out of it.

Your joking right? I've go 30+ sitting in my hanger from my agent, and I'm sure people have more than that as well.
I've just re-configured my maller to do a 6k/s cap drain burst, only has a limited cargo 280 + 3 18% expanders, but it does for 99% of my agents hauling missions....
oh thanks to reef for the load out for the maller on this thread - http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=50041

For most missions I use a punisher plus mwd/s , kill missions and large hauling I use a maller and for the stuff the maller can't take I use a badger II.

Aye, speed is whats needed along with cargo space. I'll be getting a stabber soon so I'll be fine for the small missions, using an atron atm, can get up to 700m/s (or 600 can't remember) with ab's. I'm just looking for something that has a good crusing speed, no ab's or mwd, just basic overdrive's or nano's.
The bestower seems the best all round indi, good base speed (125m/s) 4 low slots, I'll give it a whirl when I find where I left my one :)
I wouldn't mind some sort of fast cargo crusier. The Stabber looks quite good for that. I suppose there are 7 or 8 ships out there that are perfect for one type of job, just want to find a happy medium 3 or 4 :)

I use 4 diffrent ships for my level 3 agent.
1. Tempest, for everything that needs to be crushed, killed and deleted. 2. Stabber, for the missions that need to be done swift but require less than 400 cargo and more than 170 cargo 3 Rifter, my race machine, for the easy missions like bring datasheets here to there. 4 Bestower, for 4000 units of garbage... those kind of crappy missions. __________________________

I was using a thorax for kill missions, and an osprey for the 500m3 missions. It was good.
since then, I've managed to set up a scorpion with enough cargo space, enough speed, and certainly enough firepower for everything my two lvl3's can give me. Plus, if I get a cargo, and a kill mission at the same time, I can do them both in the same outing, rather than switching ships all the time. .

hehe, whats what I'm doing, found a small corp that had 3 level 1' and a level 2, 3 and 4 all in the same station. I can only talk to the level 1's and 2 atm but they all want me to go to the same area of space with stuff or bring stuff back from there :) one round trip usually = 4 missions.
Just have to remember what goes where :D

Edited by: Ruffles on 30/12/2003 12:31:53 My agents are mostly courier missions.
1 x Vigil for level 1 and most level 2 missions.
1 x 1mn MWD, and 2 x 1mn AB's, 3 x Basic Overdrive Injectors. I can get about 6.5km/s or greater. Very fast closure on gates and stations. Can replace the overdrives with Expanded Cargohold 1's and have 3 of them keep you with enough cargo volume for most mission level 1 and 2, with the odd exception.
Once you get to missions that might require much bigger cargo hold, undoubted the best and most flexible ship is the Vexor:
1 x Big Afterburner, 1 x 10mn MWD and you can get good speeds, whilst the four low slots allow either warp core stabilizers, expanded cargo holds, and perhaps cap rechargers to help with the huge cap use of the speed modules. You loose all your powergrid in this config, and can't really fight with her, but you can run cargo runs pretty damned quick. Take a capacitor booster with you and you can be set for those long run missions still.
If you fit 4 x Expanded Cargohold 1's, you can get about 930m3 volume, and add a medium container and you can get nearly 1000m3, which has been sufficient for all but 1 mission carrying cargo.
Excellent all round ship. Can mine, can fight, can haul cargo. Shes good.
I still prefer my kestrel for the kill missions though, even against some of the cruisers

I use either a bb or a bestower for the missions.
The bb is rigged with 2 whatever medium guns, 2 rocket launchers. 1 100nm aft and a bunch of other crap. This is for the under 300 cargo space missions. I deactivate the guns while I'm travelling, so I can use the aft, I switch that back at a station before fighting. After the fight I go back to a station, switch the aft back on, weapons off and fly at a speed of ~ 700 m/s towards the gates.
For anything above that I use the besty.
1 10nm aft + 3 1nm's with 3 named overdrives and 1 basic. I go about 300+ m/s towards the gates, it's fast enuf for me, and I keep about 3k of cargo space while im at it. Bjorn Borg : Underwear is futile ! |

I found my Dominix as ultimate agent runner. High slots 4 times Miner II, 2 times Dual Heavy Beam Lasers.
Miners doing mineral aquisition if need too. Dual Heavy Beam Lasers will sweep any target for combat missions.
Medium slots 100MN MWD and two 100MN AB, it push Dominix thru any gate at 900+ m/s in one push.
Low slots: 4 times shiled/cap recharge relays. 3 times nanofibers (for extra +60m/s base speed).
If I need to carry more cargo I switch nanofibers and few relays for cargo expanders. Top space of Dominix is 2000+ m3 so I can't complain because I can simulate industrial with Dominix.

I managed to get around with the following:
Vigil = Most missions, cept for kill missions and big hauling missions.
Imicus = Slightly larger hauling missions. Kestrel = Kill missions. Bestower = Hauling missions, which are rare for me thank god.

After they balanced the Blackbird, I changed to a Caracal, with 100MN AB (BS size) and a 10MN MWD I got at almost as fast to the gates and stations as the BB has been. Needs alot of Cap recharge though (power relays in the low slots, a cap battery and a recharger in the meds). Leaves enough grid for some small sized guns.
Could refit it with 5 launcher for kill missions, but I do those in a BS rather.

For the ultimate speed rush...
Executioner with 3 x overdrives and 1 x 1mw MWD.
Only leaves you with 98 or so cargo space, but with a top speed of over 3000m/s with navigation 5 it gets places fast.
Ideal if you're travelling big distances with token cargos as it's extremely agile and reacts fast to commands.

or fit a probe with 2x Overdrives, 1x 1mn MWD and 1x 1mn AB
leaves about 277 cargo and you still get over 3000m/s :P switching the OD's for nanos still leaves 2.5km/s but gives 384 cargo .. going for 2x CE gives 2km/s with 550+ cargo :) )
The vigil is a lot faster than that .. but the cargo space leaves a lot to be desired so I've found myself just using the probe to save hassle
Stabber for kill missions
Dominix for ludicrous cargo missions although I need to research a better solution what with the poor agility . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

< 10m3 mission - shuttle of course...and strangely enough its always around dinner time ;)
< 100m3 vigil - 6500m/s here :) - just gotta love it...not really needed but still fun :)
< 400m3 probe - speedy gonzales with loads of cargo
big cargo missions = hoarder = 4500m3 cargo and over 500m/s
kill mission = overkill in any bship you like :)
i particularly like allowing the baddies to approach me and then smartbombing their sorry hides!

My mission runner consists of (1) Thorax equipped with 2 100 Meganewton Afterburners, 4 Partial Power's : Reactor Control, 1 SS Overdrive, with right skills I can fly pretty much non-stop between gates and into stations at 4200 m/s and still have 235 cubic meters. Fear the Speedy Gonzalez.
