Hi, Ive been shopping for a laptop recently and I was thinking something thin and light like the Macbook. I would really like whatever I end up with to be able to play eve. So I'm wondering does anyone have any experience with running Eve on a macbook (with windows installed of course) or any laptops of comparable size.
any recommendations on which machines has been known to perform well with eve would be welcome! thank you all.

Do not attempt to run EVE on a macbook. There's a problem between the new intel cip and the ATI gfx cards.
I tried it myself, about 10 minutes into an EVE session everything starts glitching, EVE crashes, and EVE textures start appearing in windows. Forced to system restart in order to fix it.
Just get an Acer notebook or something.

I hear ya there... you can seriously burn yourself. My cat absolutely LOVES to lay with his arms wrapped around the output-vents on my laptop while I'm playing Eve so he can stay warm (clicky).
But yeah, Eve runs fine on my Sager 5680 laptop. 3.2 Ghz, 1GB PC3200, 128MB Radeon 9600 if that matters any for comparison. My laptop has poor ventilation underneath, so I have to sit it on my LapCool2 while gaming to prevent overheating. It'd probably be fine without it, but because the cat likes to block one of the vents I don't want to risk component meltage
To add: so long as you know what you are doing, if you reseat the heat sink with something like artic silver you will significantly reduce the heat. I replace mine once or twice a year whenever I do a full disassembledge to clean out cat hair...

My only computer is a Gateway notebook (M285-E) with 1 gig ram, 2.16 ghz core duo processor, and radeon x1400. I push the limit running 3 clients, so I try to keep that to a minimum. For normal play, I have no problems and get between 30-70 fps depending on what is going on, windows open, etc. ------

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. Intel Centrino Duo, 2G RAM, nVidia Geforce GO 7400. It runs Eve pretty well, in fact I can run 4 instances of the Eve client with no problems.

Well although it's not a laptop I *do* have an Intel processor iMac 20". The X1600 graphics work like a treat and the game has never skipped a frame. The standard MacBooks however have a portable graphics chipset which I'm not 100% is up to the job. The MacBook pro will probably run it as good as this machine though!

Think it might be time to get a new ALX Laptop from them.

People think 15-20fps is decent?
I can hardly play with that amount whenever i have to use my laptop so i just do some mining or ratting.

I'm running eve on my desktop BUT with x1250 integrated gfx, it does fine without AA/AF. So any laptop with this or above should be acceptable.

What the heck is the OP talking about? A Macbook... Laughing I am. It must be the worst if you want to play Eve.
I have a Dell XPS 1710, it is the best. You can run Eve at 1900X1200, no problems with all filters. Heck, I can even run Call of Duty at max resolution with all filters at max. Why would anyone want a Macbook?

I run eve just fine on am HP pavilion with pretty much basic hardware, a little over a gig of RAM, 1.8 GHz processor, and an ATI Radeon XPress 200M
Yes I just red that off the labels, yes I know nothing about computers
Kind of like the Triforce in Zelda, only not quite as potent.

Believe it or not, but I run EVE on my Dell D620 with an onboard Intel 950 graphics chip (!). I also have an Intel Core 2 duo processor at 1.7ghz. I had another laptop (dell d820) which had the same video card, but only a Core Duo processor, and it couldn't run EVE at all. Just goes to show the power of the Core 2 duo...
