This is my latest film which is based on The Day of Darkness Eve Chronicle. It's the first in a series of Chronicle films I'll be doing if I get the time between corp vids and other things. Hope you like!

Oh. My. God.
This is better then Verone's old recruiting ad, better then Loxy's stuff, AND better then Vanguard, which used to be my fav vid. This is far better then anything CCP has made (sorry guys).
Oh. My. God.
The camera work was....orgasmic! And the added premise of the storyline just made the whole thing into a mini-movie. The music was perfect to give that edgy nervous-energy feel.
I will now be going around to all my friend's houses and downloading it.
Oh. My. God.
I think the thing that made the difference is the storyline. For anybody who doesn't know anything about EVE, its still easy to understand, and gives the whole fight a premise, rather then random pretty ships shooting at each other, which gets boring after about 1 min.

Dire, this is one of the best EvE-related videos I've ever watched.
The camera work, the soundtrack, the subtitles are all finely blended together that make the EvE chronicle that inspired you come alive.
I found myself watching the video over and over, and I must've watched it about 12 times so far.
I have a question about the soundtrack though; is it a remix or the original?
I'm trying to find it so that I may add it to my daily mix, and I would like to make sure I have the right version before I pick up the vinyl.
I'm looking forward to your next one.

As far as I can tell it's the original. I bought it (digitally) off trackitdown:

IIRC the vinyl has a track called Choke (noisia/mayhem) on side B, I'll double check when I get home.
I had to shorten the track in a few places (around the breakdown) so what you hear there may be a little different.

As ever Dire your editing is absolutely spot on. I particularly enjoyed the trailer-esque black fades with quick cuts, as well as the 'shaky-cam' shots that make it look hand-held, giving it an immediacy and removing a static frame. Personally I would have preferred more integration with the story, rather than having the setup followed by two minutes of EVE prawn.
It is lovely, lovely EVE prawn however!

Yeah, same here. The middle and end quiet bits were ment to carry more of the story but I couldn't for the life of me get the sequences exported losslessly to be used in After Effects. For some reason an uncompressed .avi of around 7 gigs was blocky with colour loss.  Still got lots to learn in that respect, I'll go back and swot over Dark Shikari's awesome guide again.

That was a fantastic ingame video.
I really hope all the folks at CCP enjoy it, in all of the three years I've enjoyed Eve, that was the movie that has most captured the PvP element. (pew pew)
Anyway excellent stuff, movies like that are as good for capturing potential gamers hearts as any Eve trailer I've ever seen.

Very nicely done. Have you considered getting someone to narrate the text?
If you don't know anyone with a good voice, try Merdekka Radaen (got him to do the voice over on my Dominix Documentary video). Can be a bit tricky getting him to work to your own deadlines, but he can be bullied into doing it sometimes :P

I'm not really sure haha... nothing much beyond a decent graphics card and pc really. I used 2 accounts for most of it with a 7950 Gx2 running in dual gpu mode. One character would be an actor with minimal effects/fully zoomed, the other the camera. Also, some of the jerkier stuff from the plexes was covered up by After Effects motion blur/shake.
I think it's a lot easier when it's all staged on Sisi, I don't get FPS like that off TQ.

Its a good video and all, but I don't get all the "best eve movie ever" comments . . .The combination of fast camera cuts and music gave me a slight headace, not unlike your typical hollywood action movie. I just thought eve players were a little more intellectual than the American public, I guess not?

Videos based on lore are way way cooler. I think that you can even spend some extra time with chronicle text, this way we all learn about EvE lore (this time about Amarr villany)

I've started work on something new though I'm having problems with stability when forcing on FSAA for fraps. I hope the option gets put back into the client at some point, doing it all in post-production is a little tedious.

I actually used this vid during a uni presentation on Online Gaming and Communities using eve as a case example. I didnt actually see this thread until just now, and I couldnt get in touch with the author/director.
I hope you didnt mind, I used brief edits out of it (basically from the archon cyno to the tower explosion slow mo) and it was shown in front of about 30 odd peeps.
I think I converted several people to get trial accounts based on the pres, so I guess ccp should throw in a thankyou
Honestly in my top 3 favorite ever videos.
EDIT: BTW I didnt claim it as my own work just in case anyone was wondering
