Passive tanking doesn't work very well on Ravens, unfortunately.
This is what I use:
Highs: 6x siege w/ juggernaut
Meds: 2x Ballistic hardeners 1x Thermal hardener 1x XL shield booster 1x Shield boost amp 1x Gravimetric EECM (saves a lot of frustration...)
Lows: 3x BCS 1x DCU 1x CPU (I need it for things to fit)
Use t2 as skills allow. Don't expect to be looting in this ship though (slow as hell).

Edited by: J''Mkarr Soban on 24/04/2007 10:11:13 6x Cruise w/ Wrath
1x LSB (or best faction you can afford) 1x SBA 2x Kin 1x Therm 1x Invul
3x BCU 1x DCU 1x PDU
3x CCC rigs
Swapping a Kin hardner for an EM hardner also gives you a fairly good omni tank, and nothing it stacked either.
EDIT: Might try the ECCM, that sound very useful heh.

3 x t2 ballistic ctrl units 2 x t2 pdu
never used rigs on mine as this fit was before rigs were in game, I would use 3 cap charge rigs and laugh all the way to the bank.
Volt It's great touching your own dink isn't it?

Passive tank is for BC only, not for the Raven. And don't use kinetik/thermal hardeners, use invulnerability fields instead.
This is why: With 2-3 tech 2 invuls you can tank any Gurista belt-rat easily. But this will give you some protection against lonely anti-ratter-pirates. They will not use kinetik damage, as they know that gurista ratters use high kinetik resistance, so you will probably attacked by something using em damage or so, and that invuls will give you a better allround protection and don't leave your shieldtank with 0% resistance to em, so you have a good chance to fight those solo anti-ratters that sneak in the sys. Don't forget to pack som f.o.f. cruise missiles and a few missiles of diffrent damagetypes, if you use tech 2 launcher then a few precision missiles (to counter fast ships) aswell. You might come into situation where this saves your raven.

Edited by: James Lyrus on 24/04/2007 11:04:11 6 Siege 2, Tractor, Salvager XL booster II, Booster amp, kin, therm, invuln, target painter II. BCS and PDS to taste (I usually go for 3 BCS, since 767 damage per torp is big and clever).

*ratting* raven?
6x Siege Missile Launcher I (build up from there with loot but never above Limos)
2x Tractor Beam (or 1x tractor, 1x salvager)
1x XL shield booster I (build up from there with loot) 1x Target Painter I (build up from there with loot)
2x ballistic deflection field I (build up from there)
1x heat disapation field I (build up from there)
MWD
3/2 Ballistic Control System / Power Diagnostic (whichever combi you prefer)
Very cheap. Works fine. Ok it might take 2 mins to kill a spawn and not 1 minute 30 seconds but you lose a lot less isk when you're invariably popped by an enemy )
some CCC rigs if you like.
I'm a corp thief. And remember, I only do it because I like your robot.
Nice Isk. I'll take it. |

Why use a TP for ratting? A standard 0.0 belt spawn is 1-3 BSs w/ 1-3 frigates/cruisers. The sieges will do max damage on a BS rat w/o the need for a TP and 5x med drones will eat up the frigates/cruisers.
One other shift is using a Large Shield Booster II instead of a named XL Booster like a C5-L. With a boost amp, the XL has a efficiency of 1.625 (384cap for 624 boost) while a LSB II has a efficiency of 2.03 (154cap for 312 boost). On a un-rigged raven this will allow for better cap usage while clearing a spawn.
On Angels I use a setup such as - 6x siege, 1 tractor, 1 salvg LSB II, shld boost amp, 2x inv, t2 exp hard, t2 thermal hard 2x bcu II, 2x PDS, 1 DC II (the oh crap item).

Actually torpedoes will not do max damage to all npc BS. Some of them have a sig radius less than 400m. For guristas they are not that many so you might be able to skip the TP but for example Angel battleship most of the high reward types have around 350m sig radius.
The TP is also useful to kill off battle cruisers faster and works wonders if a player pirate strolls in (most of them don't fly BS). ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |
