I find that stumbling around in a drunken stupor after a long day of griefing poor industrialists really hits the spot.

Hah. Should've known better than to think some pirates might actually feel guilty for blowing someone's ship up. |

i knew some1 who actualy paid victims... i had a good laugh at that for a while... generally guilt is not an issue... the victims ship offends me, mostly due to ship uglyness..

There is none to deal with.
Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, |

I find laughing at the hallow threats in the hate mail a good escape from the non-existent grief that you speak of.

It's a common misconception that pirates have to deal with guilt due to their activities. Most of the time , it's pretty much the opposite - causing grief is enough of a motivation. Ransoming or killing some ratting / mining frigate or destroyer is worth a criminal flag , podding someone sitting idle at the gate is worth tanking sentry fire as well. It's a matter of principle. You won't get it until you become a pirate.

Guilt is only as real as you believe the game is. I don't feel guilt, I just see pleasure side of things from wrecking someones day.

I don't feel it. Just the flash of power and the feeling of superiority (either in equipment or experience) that killing grants you.

I felt guilty for the first few kills that I had as a pirate but didn't really have time to think about it because I was having too much fun. Anytime you enter low sec, that warning you get is enough to exonerate me of any guilt I might feel. I usually feel good because risk is what makes this game fun. Without pirates, you're stuck with some lame WoW hand-holding MMO where there is little risk and ultimately little fun.

Edited by: Kehmor on 26/04/2007 07:57:46 Haven't felt guilt for piracy for years. It disapears when you come to realise what sort of game eve is. When you pirate you are playing as intended, when you run missions you are not. Go figure.

Not too long ago we caught a freighter in our net. we took him to low armour then ransomed him for 500mil he payed back swiftly with no word of argument. we eased off the webbers and scramblers and let him go, soon as we let him go about 10 others appeared in local that werent part of our gang. we flew off thinking it was a possible gank. we then found out the 10 that entered local actually had been following the freighter. they further ransomed him for an amount we do not know, but its gotta be similar to our ransom. the guy paid them and was let go.
our ransom was split between the players present.
A couple of us said to each other in g chat that we felt sorry for the guy, being ransomed twice aint an easy time. one of our guildies then spoke up and said, if you feel soo bad, give your part of the ransom back to him..... we all laughed and none of us gave back any of the money.

guilty as we was, they get the low sec warning, and how many people fly freighters through low sec?

Thats not piracy, thats griefing, if a pirate has to blow you up, then you had your chance to pay, and theres no guilt to be had.

If by guilt you mean that feeling of happiness I get when someone else's ship blows up, then I deal with it in the most serious of serious ways possible: Beer.
