Mission running is not intended gameplay?

Have you heard about the stupid things people kill each other over in bars? Absolutely someone would do it in real life. The advantage you have is that the people you're playing against are likely far, far away from you. I think your life expectancy could be different if you were playing in the net bars in Korea. The odds of the person you griefed being someone in your town is far, far greater.
I believe I have already read of one article where a person was killed for something that occured on a message board. I have seen several situations where message board fights have been taken into the real world, not for killing but for trying to ruin someone's life. If anyone had ever been on frakedcompany, a libertardian poster there ticked off a lot of people. His photo was available online and so someone went and expertly turned it into a bj pic that looked 100% authentic, then printed glosses and mailed it to his neighbors.
It's not a matter of this being online or not, it's a matter of people taking things too far in general. If some guy will kill another guy over a pair of sneakers or drug money, they will kill someone over losing a few billion isk in a game.

I don't feel guilt and I don't feel happiness.. I just feel a vague sense of satisfaction the temporarily fills the gaping vacant hole that is my life.. Mine is a dismal and empty existence, and I try to compensate for it by inflicting upon others the pain and frustation that I feel on a daily basis.. It helps, but only for a short while.... I need a hug..

Thats not piracy, thats griefing, if a pirate has to blow you up, then you had your chance to pay, and theres no guilt to be had.
Perhaps you could read a book sometime. You'd be surprised how many pirates sunk ships, or as you put it, griefed targets, as well as murdered their prey. I feel no remorse for my victims.

The only time I feel bad is when I accidently gank someone that's obviously a complete noob. I felt so bad that I let someone off the hook last night when he was a month in game... but he convo'd, and ganged me and asked him to help with a mission. Red star and all.
So... I explained the situation and let him go. That's my good deed for the week though. Promise!

Not that I'm a pirate, but I'd say unless the target is a week-old player or something there is absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. It's a game and both sides are playing it in their own way and trying to come out ahead.
Nor is piracy (real piracy, not the baiting people in high-sec and other game-play abuses kind) in any way a form of griefing.

I don't feel guilt when I am...forcing people to fight me. I feel a kind of tension. Then if I win I get a rush, and if I lose I get this low, accompanied with myself second guessing my setup/tactics. Then after a smoke break and perhaps a little fund raising I'm back at it.
The extremeness of my feelings depends on how challenging of a fight it is.

I think many pirates don't call it griefing. Rather, say... agressive salvaging/scavenging of fresh derilicts. ------ "A wise man once told me never to argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level, and then beat you with experience." |

if u feel guilty ur in the wrong job!
Only time i felt 'bad' was when i killed a ship in high sec (thought it was low) since he was a noob and did not complain etc. I give him isk plus ship and mods etc, only time and that was over 2 and a bit years ago.
