Come on CCP, I'm getting RSI in the wrist from having to constantly control my drones.
I've sunk so many skill points into drones as I love them...but they nevr do what they are told!

CCP heard this complaint the first time. They also heard it the second time, and the following million times on this forum. Same goes for the mods. Same goes for every other person who is sick of the same thread appearing day after day.
Bottom line? CCP KNOW! They have specifically said they are working on Drone AI. You can all shut up now.

Yet still you read the thread and reply.
If CCP know about the problem, why is it not getting fixed? or where is the official "we are fixing this" statement?

They said that they would know of this problem since I started to play the game.
So you shut the **** up.

It's how drones have always behaved, at this point I don't think they can be considered "broken." I consider their petulance and misbehaving as the price of their utility, which has always been very high.
I look at it like this: they are like extra appendages. Fighting with drones is like tossing darts with your off-hand, you're gonna be missing a lot. In this case, practice doesn't improve the situation much, but remember that when you have 5 drones out you are essentially controlling 6 ships of varying complexity, often involved in different tasks. You have to continually refocus to keep everything on track.

Warrior IIs capable of going over 5km/s unable to catch up to your Dominix going 140m/s is by far the most stupid problem with drones.
you can issue an "engage target" again to make your drones hit who you want. No ammount of "return to drone bay" commands will get that Warrior II on your bay once it drops to slime speed.

Here's a workaround I've found though.
If there's nothing right next to you, drop a can. Target can, have drones engage it, tell them several times.
Drones MWD to the can, you can scoop from there
Not the fix from CCP that everyone wants, but it has worked for me since it first started bugging me.

Originally by: Hammerhead I know this is a huge issue amongst players and I agree with it. I've got my own ideas how I'd like to change it. It's currently not slated for Revelations 2.0 just because everybodyÆs schedules are already booked, but it's definitely something I want to clean up because I just think we can do better. I'd like to see all kinds of changes to the Drone AI. So yes that is somewhere on the top of the priority lists, it's just not a feature that is coming in Revelations 2.0, but I'm promising that we will do something to improve how you work with drones and how drones behave.
So, it would seem from this statement that sometime after Revelations 2.0 comes out they will look into drone fixes. Maybe drones will be able to walk in stations with us by then too.

Yes, its bean stated, no drone fixes untill after rev 2.0.
So, maybe, just maybe, if we are very luckey, they might try and fix drones by end of 2008. Yey! Now what were the skills for Raven?

CCP, we don't ask for a full overhaul of the drone code (yet) done by tomorrow. An incremental fix for engaging target and mwd back to drone bay wouldn't be too much asked?

Drones have been broken for a long, long time. Statements like 'we are working on it' 6 months ago dont really cut it. I've filed multiple petitions in the last year about drones. Basically, its getting pretty stupid. Skunrah |

Hello,
We are sorry to hear about your ship loss. Unfortunately we are unable to reimburse the ship as our server-side logs do not indicate that a bug/error within the game or a server related problem was the reason for your loss. This does not mean that we doubt your description of events in any way but I'm afraid it keeps our hands tied in regards to reimbursement. Our reimbursement policies are very strict and we can only reimburse if we are able to verify that a bug or server error caused the loss. We hope that you understand our position and that you will recover swiftly from the loss.
Best regards, GM Broken Record

Never had a real problem with them. Sometimes you have to give an order twice, yeah. But that's not really a major inconvenience.

better yet why rely on some dog brained drone to do all your work for you just because u have a huge dronebay dosent mean it should be your only attack option, personally i wishe they would just delet all drones and drone plex's for the sake of playability and give us more cargo room and compinsate the gallente w launcher slots, this would also mean more people would ahve to PLAY together to do missions and things more instead of people being able to solo insane lvl 3 and lvl4 missions and the rest of it keep the fighters for motherships and carriers but get rid of flunky drones.

Well Lucky Lynn i don't have a fraps but in perfect example, yesterday night in Amamake i sent a healthy 13 Inherji (fighters) after a target near a gate which kindly oblidged me and went pop, but when recalling the fighters to me (A mere 18 km away) they come back at sub MWD speed (About 500m/s) all the while the sentries are firing at them.
End result, i lost a 18mil fighter (Since i can't rep 2 at a time) and it takes like 30 seconds to recall them from less than 20km away. Sure you can drop a jetcan and order them to attack it but you can only do that once per 3 minutes roughly. (Before you go and tell me i am an idiot for using fighters at a gate... i know but i really wanted to finaly see someone blow up that night :)
Bottom line is drones do not behave in a reliable fashion they get "confused" and sometimes hover about 1600m away from your ship refusing to come back to the bay no matter how much you tell them to, only solution is to either close in on the drone yourself or order it to attack a target then order it back, pretty annoying losing a 1 to 3 mil drone in a mission due to that, even more annoying to lose an 18 mil fighter.

And your drone durabilty skill level is? Was the fighter already taking hull damage when you recalled it? Did you not know that sentries shoot drones? Do you open drones in space after you field yours drones to monitor their damage if any?
TBH I have never had a problem myself with my Drones MWDing. When I command them to return and orbit or return to drone bay they always do without fault. Even with heavy armor damage.
Usually, heavy hull damage is when my drones act up. Which is completely understandable.
What I think is that so many have skilled their drone skills but haven't mastered how to use them.
P.S. I personally absoluty glad to use drones in Missions or other DeadSpace. Being that the drones can MWD in DeadSpace and I can't.

What a lot of people seem to forget is that drones/fighters are a weapons system.
How would a projectiles user like the following scenario:- 1. Enter combat area. Wait for agro. (If you don't your guns will get targeted) 2. Open gun bay 3. Select the guns you want to use. 4. Deploy guns 5. Choose target for guns and wait. 6. Deploying guns has agro'd everything in the area. Recover guns (they're taking damage) 7. Wait for guns to get back (some might not make it) 8. Goto 3
Anyway, as I've said, this is discussed to death in the thread in my sig. It gets ignored too. It even got moved from this forum for being off topic!
