This game has such great potential. If it were ran by a company that wasn't so greedy, maybe it could have lived a bit longer. Forcing players to wait to weeks to use things may help keep some players paying you monthly, but it just makes a giant gap for new players to cross.

Wrong. Buy a few of these or something similar. Join FW or EVE Uni. Have fun.

Be glad you weren't a noob when you had to train learning skills before you could train stuff that was actually useful.

As far as greed goes, CCP is one of the least greedy developers, incarna not withstanding.
Alternate pay system rewarding long time players.
Free expansions, minimal startup cost.
Compare this to blizzard still trying to peddle their **** for an exorbitant amount. Square Enix even has the FFXI complete collection on steam for something rediculous like $10 every once in a while. |

NOOOOOO! Not Paltys!
This is the last straw, CCP! Even PALTYS is quitting now; surely this is a sign from the Gods to change your errant ways and reduce all training times for new players to cater for the boorishly impatient and mentally deficient amongst us. |

EVE is a long term game, not instant gratification (well, unless you like suiciding from day one...).
Besides, two weeks? I've been waiting (ie working towards) for over a year to get a T2 fit Navy Geddon. So you can take your two pitiful weeks and stick it in Goon space. |

Wow so many nice people in this thread...
Call it what you might, I do somewhat agree with the poster. Take every skill in the game and cut the training time in half, and no I'm not talking about doing this today, should have been done from the beginning so that the elites wouldn't have a reason to whine otherwise. There is no reason to make some skills take 20/30+ days to train other than making it a money grab scheme, might as well ask for a month's subscription money because guess what, at that point that's what you are paying to use that t2 launcher anyways. Instead of paying $20 for a skill, you are paying $20 AND waiting 30 days; that's how I see it.
There are many things great about eve, I play it. But some of the skill training times are borderline ridiculous. |

And if WoW went up to level 9000, the grind would be so ridiculous people would either quit... or Blizzard would be forced to revert back because of many deaths among their obsessed player base.
In EVE, there is no grind, other than to get enough money for what you want to buy (and even that doesn't have to be hard). Just time. And there is plenty to do while skills train, as long as you don't expect to be top dog right away. |

I sure don't need you now I don't love you any more The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

But don't forget that Blizz would need to cater to the casuals and boost XP gain so that leveling about 90% of that still only takes about three days.

Can I have your stuff?
That said, I was considering ditching EVE. Then I got back to playing it again. Actually PLAYING it. Interacting with people, doing stuff, not just updating my skill queue. I got hooked all over again as soon as I heard the targeting noise. It all came back, and I remembered why I played it in the first place. It's like finally scratching an itch you can't quite reach. Skyrim was immersive, but it didn't have spaceships and complexity. |

DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT - Dylan Thomas - 1951
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rage at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. |

buy 11 PLEXes .. sell them, buy 50mil SP toon .. enjoy not knowing anyone, anywhere, anything. I was flying an stabber when i was six days old, cyclone in first few weeks.. and i generally did not feel the urge to get anything quicker. You should be greatfull that you dont start first day and all you get as response to what you should learn : Learning skills just kill your first month. I actually started to train learning skills after i was in T1 fitted Tempest.
PS. Carrier V is not essential to doing stuff in EVE. or Marauder V or Battleship V since at the time you get there, you dont really care about it taking 30days+ . |
