yeayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy finally found my problem solved been a real pain ten secs of stopped graphics every 60 secs driving me nuts disabled both help chats in game now i can play properly without stop motion ty tombozo tried every thing else short of ripping out my m/b

Same solution here.
Disabled rookie help and other high member count chat windows, and the problem disappered.

I am having the same issue.
Absolutely not heat related. My system is watercooled. I play games all the time that cause my system to put out a lot more heat. My CPU & GFX cards aren't even breaking a sweat running Eve. I can compile, run SQL queries and play Eve on this computer at the same time and still not get anywhere near 100% CPU utilization on my cores with stupidly fast framerates 55 seconds out of every minute. Same result if I am only playing Eve eheh  .

My temps under 4X Prime95 are ~65C with an ambient of 26C, this game isn't remotely close to that taxing, my temp on the hotest core is ~45C while playing. The GPU while playing this game is ~57C. Very chilly temps for a Quad and GTX.
I will try turning off all my chat channels tonight when I get home and see if this helps. Very annoying problem.

I had that problem and for me at least it was Diskeeper (defrag) running in the background, after I shut it down no more stutters. Also I was using CAT 7.4's and 7.5's and went back to 7.3 and that really smoothed out performance for me.

I have been having the same problem since I started playing... I too have a monster rig and should have 0 problem playing this game at max detail with 30 ships on the screen. And yet, every 30 seconds or so I get 5 seconds of lockup.
I've read every reply in this thread and my initial summation of the situation was that it might be my CPU overheating... But why? This game doesn't require even half the computer I have. Then I start reading this stuff about rookie help chat channel bogging the system down. Somehow that seems like the culprit to me. My gut tells me so... When I get home tonight I will give it try.
My computer:
AMD 3800+ CPU
2xNvidia GeForce 7900 GT CO's in SLI
A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo
1GB OCZ Gold Series RAM (400Mhz - 2-2-2-5)

A very similar thing happenes to me when my primary DNS server goes down.
While the rest of the PC is happy to fall back to the secondary DNS eve throws a fit with a 4-5 second lag every odd min or so.
This is under XP thats primary DNS is a 2003 box, and secondary is my isp's DNS server. If I shutdown my 2003 box (DNS server) I immediatly get the freezes. Once the box is backup it disappears instantly.
Hope this helps someone in the right direction.

Same here in case any new people are having this same issue. It would be nice if they would fix this problem, seems it's been going on for awhile now.
