So, I have been playing for a few days, and I have decided to become ether a pirate or a capital ship driver. Which one do you think is better? Being pirate sounds pretty cool, and I like owning, but I read that capital ship drivers are good too. How do I go becoming ether one of them? Also is there a site that tells which skills are good and which are not, so I know what to train?

Do both. Pirate corps with capitals are just plain scary.

You should recycle that character and come back with a better name.

Edited by: Zalathar on 07/05/2007 18:02:39 The skills needed to pirate will benefit a capital pilot too. best to create a well rounded combat player first, then specialise later.

You should definitly go straight for one of the battleship skills and put it to lvl 5. After that you need like one or two other skills at lvl 5 aswell and you are good to go with your carrier.
Please bring this carrier then to "Tasti" top station. INFOD would like to watch at your precious ship

hehehe....
What they are trying to tell you is that to fly a Capital ship with any effectiveness you are probably going to spend at least a YEAR training.
Download EvEMon and Quickfit, they will help you plan your ship and character's skills. Spend time in the Ships and Fittings Forums and read the fittings guides. Then spend some time watching the Market/Contracts and seeing what various ships are selling for. After that decide where you want to take your training and what ships you want to fly.
As for being a pirate, you can start that today.... <-----------> Keiron: Quote on PvE/PvP

Simple advice :
Just play the game. It will become clearer on what you really want to do.

Trust me mate, train up for specialized smaller ships first, Capital ships may look big and like ubar-epeen enhancers, but they are really big boring and cumbersome. Also not being able to move from system to system in you big beautiful carrier without a friend suck imo, but then again, i don't fly anything bigger than a cruiser(tech II of course) ___________________________

it's quite likely, that if you need somebody to give you 4mil for a cruiser, you don't have the skills to effectively fly a cruiser well.

But do you have the skills to use the correct sized missile launchers? Do you have all the shield tanking skills? can you use an afterburner? can you fit ballistic control mods?
It isn't just a case of having the skill requirements for the ship itself, you need all the support skills!

I do believe you need to find a corp to help you out, as you have a choice between pirate or capital pilot i'd reccomend you find a PVP corp, they'll help you into pvp, new ships, weapons etc, and above all else training (not game training, brain training).
Also, i'd reccomend you specialize you smaller ships before going bigger, the growing pains are a lot more painful if you zip into big stuff first (like eating 8 kebabs in one night then the next night your trousers don't fit)

uMM.. im not quite sure what the hell you are talking about. Can you clarify pls? I have some missle launchers on my kestrel, I was just gonna put them on the cruiser when I got it, i dont have the money to get better ones anyway. Majority of my other gear came from the pirates i killed doing missions, i just mixed and matched some hsit that I looted.

oh lord...
Without knowing much about caldari at all (as i am gallente), i would say heavy or assault launchers are cruiser sized. Point is, you need good skills to use even a cruiser effectively. Without a proper tank you will pop pretty quick even in level 2 missions. I suggest you actually play the game and get in a player run corp instead of posting no knowledge threads on the forum like this.

I dont even have any shield stuff on my kestrel and I do lvl II missions fine, I just stay at like 25+km and shoot missles until the enemy die. I found some shield modules but they all take too much energy or something so I cant have 4 lauchers on, and my shield stuff, so I chose 4 launhchers instead of shield.

enter the sweet sweet world of speed tanking =] You get so much transversal that the enemies turrets cannot track you well enough to actually hit... unfortunately cruisers don't tend to do this so well =]

once you have everything in your life, a cute wife, a big house, tons of excitement, money like hell... you name it... you can become a miner to compensate all that and make your life more trist, to match the lifes of other human beeings better.
if one of the above points won't match on you, mining is NOT an option at all for everybody not beeing retarded

dear lord, you don't like the people that build your ships then? I suggest you change your order of procedures for posting on forums to the following - 1) engage brain 2) put brain in gear 3) remember that if nobody mines you won't have many ships at all 4) decide not to post at all. ever.
