UPDATE:
Okie so tonight we turned her camera movements off , dropped the effects a bit and she played in a slightly smaller window. she was able to go about 30 minutes but then the nausea kicked in.
At least there is some progress. We ordered a travel sickness band hopefully that will help. |

Is she in a well lit room with a comfortably ergonomic chair and keyboard layout?

this is gold advice! in fact you wanna probably turn off all the camera options, but thiese 3 are the most heavy on motion sickness

I think she might be still too confused with the interface and moving her eyes around too much and having trouble orienting herself in the internal 3 dimensional axii within the game.
I dont think its any fps/frequency issue.
Afterall, we are talking about looking at a flat screen
Try telling her to zoom out the view on the ship.
Also try activating the tactical overlay, as it gives a flat constant horizon to look at/oreint off of whilst arrows/lines indicate position above/below it and directions of motion.

As you may know, the background in the system is a cube, textured on inside.
Now its less obvious because they improved the background, but earlier you could have seen the seems between textures. It was fairly immersion breaking and felt nothing like a space when you found those seems by zooming in.
Now when it became so realistic, maybe it makes more people sick.

I had similar issue. There are graphic settings that can help, I'd suggest disabling "camera bobbing", offset, and other dynamic camera movement.
Smaller screen (less immersion) might also help. Don't use a 40" curved one that covers the entire field of view. |

Can confirm this. My wife has looked over my shoulders a few times while I was in-warp and walked away feeling dizzy.
Frankly, I need her watching me play Eve like I need her following me around Home Depot.

Alright so just now she got a good 40 minutes in and with full screen (she refused to maintain window mode) Hopefully with the travel band and a lil more time just getting used to the game she will be able to play independently with no symptoms popping up. |

Try INCREASING your frame rate. The average human perceives a 60hz flicker as a steady stream of light. However, certain people (like pilots) have been documented detecting flicker as high as 148hz. If your fps is set at only 60, your wife might detect this as a flicker thus making her nauseous. Try at 120 fps and see if this helps.

Playing a laggy server on space engineers for an entire day gives me an outright headache, as if gravity + lag weren't a bad enough combo. I lost roughly 10 mining ships to gravity before the base missles bugged out and obliterated the next one I was building, and I quit.
As for fps's I've been playing them my whole life. No real issues as i'm used to it like many others, it can make you feel ill sometimes if you play too long though.

This is the cutest thread ever!
The man is on a special COSMOS mission (of love and chivalry), but the obstacles are tricky to overcome. In the first wave: "she likes having all the "pretty stuff" turned way up" And if that wave is survived then there comes the intensified resistance: "she refused to maintain window mode" ...... [I died]
I demand this man is rewarded by CCP with a special ingame trinket (bling) to adorn his lovely wife's avatar!

I agree, there's not much obvious evidence of total sweethearts who play this game, but actually I've met more than a few playing it.

I think this is the second time you've managed to crack me up with tales of the wifey. I think it's something to do with me reading your posts like they're written by Christopher Lee.
