Shield implants were mentioned at fanfest and slated for a summer release when they will be converting all the current slave implants in to dark blood implants before adding the new shield slave implants
And i assume you're referring to the 3 minute bump timer then i have no idea, it won't fix anything as you can just have an alpha alt come in a warp scramble the ship being bumped to force them to reset the timer anyway so i've no idea what the plan is with that feature, its unlikely to save ships from dying in this day and age |

WiS is about the only feature Id still love to see implemented.
The player built gates are coming after all this citadel stuff is hashed out still I can see that still on the horizon, if itll be meaningful remains to be seen.
And something kind of discussed but not really is expanding the solar systems, just more stuff "out there" beyond the planets and the core solar system to explore and interact with, preferably lawless sec within any sec system because it is the "fringes."
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?
That's right.

No they started working on it during the ps3s height, the problem was ccp shanghai in the free trade zone in china. It was right around the time that the console ban had been lifted in China. No one in China had experience with this cellprocessor in the ps3 there like wester devs had for a few years. They had issues with the leads on the project and that position changed a few times and the game just need up being a bugfy alpha equivlant to buggy 2006 launch games. Some of them Chinese programmers just didn't have experience there and they could have hired and produced it in there us CCP branch instead of that canceled word of darkness game tat also went nowhere. And there were issues with carbon running on ps3 so everything had to be done in unreal engine 3. If they had really buckled down and gotten a real alpha beta out and launched a finished game in 2012 instead of a second alpha they could have had something. They explained bits and pieces about what happened occasionally on the old dust forums and devblogs about the lead changes before ratatti took over. Something like 3-4 changes and they never ironed out a real direction for the game. He was the last lead and he had never even played Eve before which he admittedly publically to me in a thread.

It failed because ccp never devoted any real resources to it. Not really. It got closed because ps3 became history. No they started working on it before the ps3s height, the first trailer was 09-10 back when I was playing on my first account during apocrypha. The only reason I even knew dust existed. The problem was ccp shanghai in the free trade zone in china. It was right around the time that the console ban had been lifted in China. Before that time there were no gaming consoles allowed in China. So no one in China had experience with the cellprocessor in the ps3 there like western devs had for a few years. They had issues with the leads on the project and that position changed a few times and the game just need up being a buggy alpha equivalent to buggy 2006 ps3 launch games. When you compare it to early ps3 games it actually quite similar, had sort of a quake wars vibe actually. Some of the Chinese programmers just didn't have experience with it and they could have hired and produced it in the us CCP branch (Atlanta I believe) instead of that canceled world of darkness game that also went nowhere. And there were issues with carbon running on ps3 so everything had to be done in unreal engine 3. Most of the progress and large updates were when some of the rekjyavik guys would fly there and help out every now and then usually around the time of the big updates. If they had really buckled down and gotten a real alpha/beta out and launched a finished game in 2012 instead of a second alpha I feel they could have had something. A hybrid fps with aspects from Eve made it unique fps apart from the bits that copied from MAG. They explained bits and pieces about what happened occasionally on the old dust forums and devblogs about the lead changes before ratatti took over. Something like 3-4 changes and they never ironed out a real direction for the game. He was the last lead and he had never even played Eve before which he admittedly publicaly to me in a thread. It was just really a culmination of things that went wrong but ultimately go back to CCP trying to do it cheap in a startup branch instead of in-house along side the main Eve game. I wish there were some true post-mortems for games like that. Think of the lessons that could be learned.
And who was the person that finally stood up at a meeting and said "We need to shutdown Dust. It's no longer viable."

A lot of idea indeed look much better on paper/design documents than they do once implemented. It's not only in games either. When you work in a place that has to deal with project to implement ideas, you realize quite fast that you can't always implement as designed and even then, sometime it turns out to be **** even if you followed the design to the t. |

When you see when EVE was growing you can see it was all leading to Incarna. And horrible implementation of it by CCP. People were waiting for it and it flopped, because CCP could not deliver. Same as they could not deliver WoD. When will they learn..
People were waiting for it because there was nothing else being worked on. They went with WiS because it was "cheap" to implement since it came from another game they were building anyway. ad it not been of the vampire game, WiS would never have existed and they would of continued to work on spaceships. |

When I listen to CCP's vision for incarna, there really didnt seem to be much depth behind the main concept of walking outside your ship. Who would really want to hang out at a tattoo parlor or space bar when most chat is done across new Eden through chat channels? I see the tech demo of avatars walking about and I think, ok that's cool but where is the gameplay. In the end we got captains quarters again with no gameplay attached. I really don't believe they had much of an idea where to go with incarna and that's why we got the result we did, even to this day walking in stations means something different to everyone you ask.
If people really want walking in stations they need to come up with some fitting eve gameplay for it, considering ship-to-ship combat would obviously be off the cards in station. Personally I don't see why dust like gameplay can't happen over large capital ships as well as planets and outposts, handled by a separate server but still within the eve client. Obviously the combat systems would be different modules and only communicate certain results like perhaps a progress/ 'who's winning' bar to the main spaceship client.

This is not true at all. Incarna launched (and failed) in 2011. EVE's record number of people on at the same time at that point occurred on May 5, 2013 and in January 2014 the average was something like 40k characters on line.
You were waiting for Incarna and I'm sure a few others want WiS too but the idea that the failure of WiS has anything to do with the general game is untrue. The numbers of characters on line AFTER CCP ditched the WiS idea and refocused on spaceships proves this. |

With [the promise of] Incarna, Dust (and it's marketing promise of cross-platform play) and even atmospheric flight, came the highest sub numbers EvE Online has seen to date (as you say.)
Those were the peak days of podcasts and 3rd party app development. A lot of that meta-gaming has likewise declined.
Since those failures, and with no obvious backup plan the sub numbers began this long gradual decline. Since those failures you outlined, CCP has been rather rudderless. There doesn't seem to be any 'next big thing' for anyone to look forward to. There is no goal for EvE Online other than keeping the lights on.
But you're welcome to continue playing "Wallace Hartley" and be applauded for it.

It would help, when you are stuck in structures or between asteroids too. But yes, it would prevent ransom bumping in highsec without a loss of a scramfrigate every 3 minutes. Bumpers would have to put more effort in to holding the target in place. And since i am more on the target side of this conflict, i would love to see it.

WiC's.... that's walking in citadels not damn stations.. im sick of seeing my ship spin, I want to walk around and have others view my body!...
look at these heels!! fffs.... eve online of all things they've managed to do.. they couldn't come up with a way to have some silly little space cantina where all pilots can lounge around and socialize... this is without a doubt the biggest slap in the face.
I mean hey CCP proved they could do it via the DUST/Playstation HOME setup... but here?? its a hell no cause it takes "work".
and where in the living hell is that gate from that trailer "the prophecy"... you forgot all about that story...to ask ccp to deliver us a clean story from start to end is like asking ccp rise to begin shaving... its just not happening. |

I guess the same may happen if operator leave his capsule - ship may become motionless, but crew will be fine.

I really think they could have put the resources poured into Valkyrie into something more spectacular in Eve. VR is destined to fail anyways. It looks like complete dirt anyways. You get a better picture from 95% of TV's than what the VR screens look like. On top of that the expense for the hardware is prohibitive. I am not paying $400 for 10 year old screen quality. |

ever since the motion picture "the lawnmower man" everyone has dreamed up ways of making VR a total reality, its all just a huge work in progress type of technology as it advances more and more each day. the end result is consumers having to constantly upgrade to the next best hype.. you see this trend a lot these days in TV's.. 720p 1080p, and now we're at 4k.. with another high-end tv already on the way in the couple years.. VR is what it is.. a simple gimmick for quick cash grabs, it can only be counted a major success this time around pending on how long its supported.. and there lies the question, just how long will ccp support Valkerie?? will it end up like dust?? whats the shelf-life of the Ps4 since there's already a PS5 already in the works.. how long will these VR visor/headsets last until they expire due to being $400 toys.. this is the risk you pay vs reward.. the end blame goes to the idiot that decided to over invest in the gimmick in the 1st place.
remember 3D?? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I may be wrong and actually they will give it with such new space, in hope it wil boost returns to the game, to see what is going on, how much fun it is. But in such case they already should have implemented it.

Yesterday it happened again. My orca was bumped by a machariel for about 15 minutes until i could manage to warp out after he lost 9 catas trying killing one of my skiffs(thanks for neutral remote repping btw. CCP, great change).
He was just angry and although he brought then 13 alts to the system, the never landed on me. I thought, he would try to kill my orca, but no. He just bumped me around, preventing me from warping away. And he followed me, as i managed to warp to a random celestial. Thanks to my 500 mn mwd i could warp fast to a gate and got away.
CCPlease stop that. You promised a 3 minute warp timer in 2016 (iirc). Please help.

But it would maybe enough for a well tanked skiff with 7 shield rem rep supports. 2 on the orca, 5 on the osprey.
