Sylph Alliance has regrettably come to a fork in its life-
UK's recent actions have forced us as non-participants in their war, to face the very real threat of extinction (or at least removal from this area of space) at the hands of their new allies. Whilst Sylph Alliance recognizes the reasons for which they have taken such measures, it doesn't necessitate our compliance nor our approval.
Faced with the contamination of the area, to the detriment of our safety and our objectives. We carry out what can hopefully be seen by many as the one honorable cause of action. We take up arms against those that oppose us.
Our methods have always been based on diplomacy, forging many friendships throughout EvE, and defusing many such situations to continue working towards our end goals. Sadly this time it was made clear that diplomacy was merely a solution for stalling the inevitable.
We claimed to be neutral in the war, and fervently upheld this ruling up to the time of this post. Both sides respected the fact that we had aims merely to protect ourselves against outside threat. Once one side undeniably bears hostility against us however, there is little choice in our course of action. Despite our anti-piracy pledge, and the invasion of our sovereignty space by endorsed hostiles, we've managed to stave off this day since the first incursion nearly 4 months ago. Not for self-preservation, but for recognition of the blue standings we used to have with UK... despite the situation, some respect holds intact.
We will continue to aid those that find themselves in a similar predicament, helping them make the best out of this forced situation. Despite our name being plastered everywhere, we're not by any means the only neutral party being preyed upon. We're simply the only ones with an outpost. There are plenty of corporations and alliances that utilized our facilities and habited the area prior to these events.
To make this clear, we never were allied to UK, we aided them only against piracy and maintained mutual blue standings and friendly contact, we respected them and counted them as soldiers of immense honor. We deeply regret that actions have played out the way they have.
The way we view it is simple, through whatever circumstances, a vast number of pirates have been given the opportunity to base themselves a mere 4 jumps from our home system. Everything Sylph has worked towards has been abolished by this occurrence. The outpost is of no military advantage, it merely houses the concepts we worked hard to employ.
From this point forth, we stand by all that seek to remove the Providence threat, knowing full well that though these may be our last actions in this chapter of the alliance, they were spent for the right reasons. As we see it, there was once an alliance that vowed to bear arms against all those that would oppose their stance and impede their goals despite the odds.
We're simply returning the favor, come what may.
