Mercenary Coalition	Posted - 2007.05.19 22:14:00 - [1] Well, seeing as how some people like trying to report the "news", I figured I'd take a shot at it... at least from our point of view. The MC-led forces that have taken northern Pure Blind, Fade and Deklein over the last two months began a new phase of the war last weekend, striking into the heart of enemy territory by assaulting the system of LXWN-W in Branch. This is the factory outpost built by D2 one jump away from BKG. Initial resistance was light last Saturday night as we put all enemy towers in the system into reinforced, including a capital shipyard. M. Pire Alliance dropped several towers of their own for allied sov. D2 adjusted the timers on thier towers for two to come out right after DT on Sunday and one on Monday at prime time. Due to logistics and timing, we could not muster the forces to take down the first two towers. When the third came out on Monday night, D2 had nearly 300 enemy pilots in local and the system locked down tight. They then used a reported force of 30 dreads to put three of our towers into reinforced. The first came out on Tuesday night at 2117. Determined to save the tower, on Tuesday we gathered a force of 42 Dreads, 43 carriers and four motherships. Supplementing this force were nearly 120 support pilots who had been piling into the system all day, doing their best to disrupt any enemy build up. Our tower was successfully defended and recharged. Intel suggests that Northern forces had 45 dreads on standby to jump us. When they elected not to, we put their pesky capital shipyard starbase back into reinforced. As some may know, I had a bit of a close call in my Nyx during this op. Early on I warped to the BKG gate, started killing things and discovered a new "feature" in the game I was previously unaware of. My global command key is my right CTRL key, so as I'm talking and scrolling out with my mouse wheel... suddenly I'm looking at the solar system map! For the next 2-3 mins nothing I could do would close the damn map. Joy! So, I couldn't seem to get into warp, my smarties are running and my mailbox is flashing like mad with kill mails. I called for a cyno but the cyno guy had JUST had to refuel. Oh great!! So another 20-30 seconds go by and now 50+ BS are happily pounding on me. I go from 40% shields to 90% armor in what seemed like seconds. Finally, a jump beacon goes up and another 30 seconds of uncertainty goes by. My screen shows me in warp but then I appear next to the cyno guy. WTF? I put down the headset, pass on command and take five minutes to get my heart under control. I've been in worse situations TBH, but because I couldn't see ** all of what was happening around me, this time was a bit... tense. Oh, and as all of this was happening, Triumvirate and Terror in the System started to make a move on Tenal! On Wednesday, sovereignty in the old IRON stations in Deklein switched to Aftermath and Vigliance. We formed up another carrier heavy fleet and both allied towers that came out of reinforced in LXW were saved. Where had our enemies gone? It seemed that D2 and friends decided to leave us alone that night and go after TRI and ** (T/T) in Tenal. Reports indicated that they were hitting OE-4HB with about 12-14 dreads, 16 carriers and a 50+ BS fleet with an equal number of support. T/T were locked out of the system by a massive bubble camp and their towers were getting hit. We decided to jump our four available motherships jump to a midpoint cyno so we could get in on the action. BTW, that's Velios in the Hel. Four Horsemen 4TW! - Vid - 'P-2 Defense'

In the meantime, T/T had formed up a 70 man BS fleet and were just about to crash the gate when we cyno'd into a tower. A trio of dictors dropped bubbles on the main enemy BS group, we landed all four moms on top of them and all hell broke loose. Due to warp offs and range, we only scored 12 BS kills while T/T hit a good chunk of the rest. Waagaa just warped right next to the gate in his Aeon (lunatic) and helped murder everything around it. After we left to go help fix our last tower, apparently Morsus Mihi showed up a bit later and more fun was had by all. Special story - Oh, btw, I nearly forgot about the heart attack of the week. We're repairing our first tower on Wednesday night and it's up to around 40% when an unannounced cyno goes off 14k from my Nyx! I hit the command channel to make sure itÆs getting killed when I hear one of the M. Pire guys state, "Sorry! Friendly cyno." Bah. Noobs! So, just as I'm relaxing again, I notice that the cyno is really close to Velios' Hel. In fact... it's coming FROM Velios' Hel!! That's right folks, the man generated a cyno with his mothership. Luckily, the incoming ship bumped him inside the forcefield, thus saving one of our own moms from having to do the same to him. I love Vels, but apparently, playing LOTR Online for a few weeks causes you to lose brain cells. After a long and sleepless week, the Factory outpost in LXWN-W was taken by M.Pire Friday after DT. After several intense seconds of discusssion on TS, it was renamed the 'LXWN House of Pancakes'. At some point during the day, an MC Wyvern got into a bit of trouble and was, according to a nice fellow in local with me today, moved / saved by a GM. It seems cynos on standby are "magic" or something so... thanks, GMs, for saving our Wyvern I guess? Anyway, this morning the Capital Shipyard in LXWN was destroyed. It was offline and nothing was inside as far as we know, even if Crovan insists it was storing a Titan made of chocolate. (Seriously, WTF, dude?) Jin Entres Sharks With Frickin' Laser Beams Mercenary Coalition	Posted - 2007.05.20 00:25:00 - [43] I've had a great first week flying a Wyvern. Even though that one situation looked a bit bad. For anyone interested, here's how it went: I was at a gate, fighting a few hostiles when a D2 blob of about 50-100 BS (someone on their side would provide a more reliable account, though) warp in and unleash on me. The few support we had at the gate mostly managed to clear away so I was now alone. At first I recalled my drones (I was using heavy drones), but after several dictors dashed at me, I activated my smarties and decided to just get out. Aligned and not in a bubble (one bubble behind me, one ahead so I was in between two but clearly within neither) I command the initiation and appear to enter warp and leave the battlefield. However, I immediately notice that my overview still shows the enemies and my locks have not dropped, but all ranges are increasing and are in fact several AUs. Regardless, I keep taking damage, so I could only conclude I had some sort of lag desynch. The bookmark for the friendly POS I was trying to warp to said approach, and an attempt to warp to that moon from the system menu resulted in a "You cannot do that while in warp" message. Hence I could only wait or cyno out. Unfortunately, being a shield tanker, I had expended cap shield boosting a bit. The enemy fleet was also nossing me (to what extent, I don't know). At that point my cap was 55%. I turned everything except hardeners off in an attempt to recoup enough capacitor to reach the jump treshold (71.5%). It was quite slow, though: perhaps 1% in 30 seconds, and my recharge was barely outperforming the drain. As such there must've been a lot of nos (my peak recharge is over 300 cap/s). Without my booster I was relying on passively withstanding the inflicted damage. I don't know how long it took exactly, but after several minutes when my shield was a tad below 40% and cap at 68% (I'm not sure if it was going to even go high enough) I finally stopped taking damage and appeared or came out of warp at the friendly POS. This is actually the first I've heard of any GM involvement, but if I did indeed receive help, I thank whoever that was for making it in time. Lesson learned? A few: First of all, never underestimate lag. As such engagements of this size are very risky to begin with, and I will try to avoid them in the future. Secondly, cap is life. Not much I can do on that front, though, other than to upgrade my cap related modules. Anyone with experience flying Caldari ships knows it's their weakest link. Thirdly, I should always consider the use of my shield booster seriously with regards to my ability to bail, aswell as better recognise the added cap consumption of smarties. And fourthly, pimping pays off and those extra percentages in both resistances and cap recharge make a difference. A fifth lesson, perhaps, is that I've learned to appreciate my ship a bit more. I'm a guy who takes risks, but having been that close to losing it I'm a bit less deluded about it's (claimed) invincibility. And I also enjoy having it more. ---

We dealt with it and moved on. I agree that it can get boring and frustrating sometimes, but we've also had some absoluetly fantastic capital vs. capital engagements in this campaign. EVE changes; a year ago, the BS blobs were 'out of control'. Now it's cap ships. Next year it will be something else. When if there ever gets to be a battle reports thread it would be cool if there was some way to have the aggressors post thier view of the fight and the next post be "owned" by the defenders and get both sides of the battle. At the end of the day it would be interesting to get the startegy from both sides and the reasons they chose the battlefield/time/forces/when to disengage.

But why do I see so many people crying about Carriers / Dreads... 80 Capital ships, 0.0 is done for bla bla bla. I don't build Carriers or Dreads myself, but I do recall going through the market and identifying that all the BPO's for the Ships and the stuff needed to build the ships is on the market. I thought well all this crying, maybe the materials to build these ships are rare and only found in 0.0. Well I looked and to my amazement they only use minerals. The same minerals used to build BS's, Cruisers, Frigs and such. So instead of crying that this team has more or that team has more why don't you go build yourself some. Yes you may have seen Axe get upset about log on traps, possibly even POS's setup without a mail to those that hold Sov, but you never heard us cry that -A- had more caps than us, more isk than us, or more t2 ships than us (Not saying all those are true, I honestly don't know), But point is still the same. Stop crying about it and do somthing. If its give up, retreat then do it. If its fall back some, build a larger capital fleet then do it. If its quit Eve and join WoW then so be it.

Just to point somthing out (Seleene sry if you dont want this info out) when we killed the capital ship yard we barley had 80 people in our gang total from what I recall, and my guess is 25 caps. So I don't see how blob's, capitals are the issue.

I don't think it's the capital ships that are changing eve, i think its the fear that some folks get of losing them making them hesitant to engage in battle because they will suffer loss. Taking heavy losses while inflicting heavy losses doesn't seem an option to some folk. Nice writeup as always seleene, sounds like fun up there BoB vs the coalition of family values

They are no differant than BS's at the start of the game. I recall when a Maller was more dangerous than any other ship because everyone else was in frigs. The attack had been planned a bit in advance, the fact this coincided with D2 having problems in LX was a bonus for us but it was not planned that way. However we did not expect D2 to simply roll over in LX and concentrate pretty much everything in OE-4HB, a system to which they dont even have sovereignty. All told we had a gang going of about 120-130 people, probably 25 of those were capitals (mainly dreads). We entered into the system after jumping from our mid point and waited at a friendly pos to be given the "go". I can't honestly remember what local was at during this time but it was nothing for anyone to worry about. We warped to the first enemy pos to be attacked and as we came out of warp (but before entering siege) someone pointed out that local was "sky rocketing" I looked at local and I've never seen it go up that fast, fast enough for us all to be thinking "hey that friendly pos looks like a good place to goto right now" so we all aligned up and warped out back to safety. By now all the capitals were safe so all the capital pilots joined the main TS op's room so we could listen into what was happening. A some point Janus set off his DD trying to nail our fleet but only 7 ships were destroyed by it. (the ones not aligned DUH) After this we warped in and out a few times trying to kill what we could but by now local had gone above 350, D2 had a Titan in system and outnumbered us by more than 2:1 (by that time our gang was at 150) At some point during our warping in and out Seleene & Co made an appearance to make things a little more "interesting" for Razor, D2 & Associates Hell of a night, even though personally all I did was use up a lot of jump fuel and didnt fire a shot all night. The capitals all returned safely and I logged for the night, though from what I've told later on we gained the upperhand and did quite a bit of damage, but I'll leave that for someone who was actually there to comment on.

You get reports from the other gang that you were attacking with and you do a battle reprot accordingly. And btw you dont have to be omniscient when you looking at the same action everyone else is, you simply have to pay attention. Since Mc was in a coordinated attact to pop our caps im sure MC/TRi/tit were in some kinda of contact w/ each other (duh). And reporting the loss of around 30 bs is not an imposssible objective, tbh its required to be reproted such a loss. Woud it be better if ddd was initiated and 30 bs were lost rather than the hard way? Anyway, this is truning into a flame, I was simply clering the air. :P For Death and Glory!!!

To be fair I wasn't clear enough when I said 'why not here' I meant in COAD in general, not this thread. I was aguring the fact that it was possible to give an objective summary, where velsh said it wasn't. I also don't know anything about 'fictional battleship kills' or care for that matter, so I don't know where you got that from in my post. WhiteSnake Generals Of Destruction Syndicate Terror In The System	Posted - 2007.05.21 12:20:00 - [154] T/T are not invading nor sieging tenal, its against our gamestyle we needed traingrounds for our pilots so one night we decide to give them the chance to do some training, so one team with dreads picked up a pos with many hardeners (d2 style) to test guns, siege times etc another team with carriers and haulers were practising to learn how to anchor towers in a hostile space, note that most of the towers were anchored and onlined with 150+ hostiles in the system. At that time we lost only 2 before they get online. the outcome was good, and the next practice lesson in already scheduled. @Seleene, no need for detailed reports, just give them the dates couse they already know they are loosing space, system after system. Also it is just amazing to see how the coalition fears the MC's capital fleet.

They prove that they can muster the muscle and logistics needed to topple entire alliances in protracted campaigns... I don't think any other merc outfit comes close to having this ability. We already knew BoB could do this, but MC's prowess was really underscored in this most recent conflict.
