Watch after the next major roll out and the player population will jump again - Not everyone plays constantly, so just like to dip in from time to time, and come back when they feel like it.

Numbers have not declined - they have stayed exactly the same since December.
Here is the data to prove it:

Subscription numbers are still going up, and since summer is starting and this has happened every summer, I would say it's because of the summer.
Revelations 2 is on its way, so I guess we'll see what is more important then, EVE or sun?

Important question on behalf of the ..err..interstellar..umm..news corporation *nods*
Will the upcoming summer heat effect the beer consumption of CCP emplyees and if so, will it bring more "inspired" ideas into the R&D department?

They drink a lot of beer already, and I hear summer in Iceland isn't all that warm anyway.

Allrighty then. Just worried of umm...dehydration! Yes. That's the worry
Although i would propose an increase in the beer budget just incase global warming has effected the icelandic climate. Just to be safe.

I was pretty well convinced the decline in numbers was because of the new idle kick feature. I'm sure at least 5k people are idle at one time.
I notice idle kick happens to my alt quite often. I see it as a good thing though, as someone else said, less lag for everyone else! |

Edited by: Tundaar on 21/05/2007 14:09:22 Tbh I think a lot of these comments are hitting the nail on the head, With the issues which have happened and are continueing, I struggle to find a reason to log in and have started playing other games instead. . . . . . . the main reason to play a game is fun and EvE is quickly becoming "Not Fun" but a grind and bore
- Lag
- The boredom of POS warfare
- massive acceptance of "Metagame" mechanics by CCP and then saying is it a "Feature" (Shooting through POS sheilds, POS Bowling, Titan Killing only due to Logoff, Artificial Capping of system population, Empire Suicide alts with no penalty, Logoff/Log On Traps etc etc) - WHERE THE HECK IS THE "Fleet Combat"
- Only way to live in 0.0 involves fleet warfare
- Fleet warfare NOT FUN due to stupid amounts of lag
- Super Caps require Fleets to combat them
- Fleets are getting nerfed = impossible to fight super caps (as if it was possible now anyway)

- Late start of constellation severeignty gave JUST enough time for one group to overbalance the scales, by the time it comes in they will be in an unassailble position controlling most of the wealth of 0.0 (Look at map now compared to 12 months ago . . . )
- Too much emphasis on new content rather than fixing many many many known bugs and issues
- sigh . . . . the list goes on
The ongoing issues don't make me angry just frustrated and dissappointed, Many others from Corp/Alliance have stopped playing for same reasons and now only participate in out of game Forums.
For a long time I have had 3 accounts, I'm now letting the timer run out on them, I may consolidate my 3 mains to one account and hope things get better, but on past experience I can't see it happening. . . . . and realistically I just can't be arsed

Alcohol is a diuretic, so drinking a lot of beer will actually dehydrate your body, drinking water would be a lot better if it's very warm.

Just think what the member numbers would be without all the GM corruption. You have lost a lot of players because of it. just look at all the none CCP run forum threads about CCP corruption. I unfortunetly have witnessed it today and it explains many things.
Ive been playing this game for close to 4 years now and my eyes have been opened. CCP have become to big for there own good and they cant monitor there own staff.

While it is indeed true, alcohol is a diuretic, its quite a nice alternative to drinking nothing! Meaning the main ingredient in beer is still water, and youll be less dehydrated drinking beer, then if you drank nothing at all.

When school is out here in the US you should see more ppl playing EvE during Euro timezone and throughout the day. It is exam time right now, and maybe the cause of the decline over the last few weeks.
Eve was fun when there were 5-7k ppl online. Not worried.

i'm pretty sure the amount of water in beer negates that anyway.
although i do slip a couple of ice cubes into my pint of Night Nurse for that very reason.

You "hear" summer in Iceland is not that warm ? So, you DON'T live there now ? Or would this be your first summer there ? Or was it purely a theatrical manner of speaking ?

For me personally it's just the lag and the feeling Eve needs even more of my pc resources lately to run smoothly, that makes me not login as much as before anymore. I've got a geforce 7600 gs and I'm running this in 16 bit color mode.. that is pretty ridiculous, especially that it doesn't help alot when doing any kind of battle over say 80 vs 80.

Originally by: Zantazar Edited by: Zantazar on 21/05/2007 11:37:40 It would really be a shame if for the reasons that some of you have posted, a downward trend develops. I also have played this game for 2/3 years, and I am an addict. The luxury of training whilst offline is a very important factor to me, especially lately as I have some health issues. I still retain my subscriptions, two accounts for me and two for my son, but I am not playing at the moment, just skill changes etc.
I am optimistic that CCP will address the important points that need "fixing". If a trend does become apparent, I am sure that they will.
At the time of the so called scandal, I was furious at the way that CCP handled it. But, water under bridges etc. I am prepared to put that into history, unless it recurs, then I will be gone.
You hit the nail on the head right there for a lot of us. I had come back for RE as advertised in the interviews about the Kali release. I stuck around and gave Invention a fair chance (IMHO) throwing billions of isk and 4 months at it. But for the last few montahs all I, and a lot of others I have talked with, have done was just keep our subscriptions going and set training. I have not actualy played in the last 4 months, just log on, check invention try results and set trainings.
Been playing since beta so yes I have done the 0.0 and lowsec bit (got the T shirt) but really EVE just seems stale after playing it off and on form the last four years. Now if Reverse Engineering is released or the Prat welfare program is repieled in Rev 2 I will come back as that carrot is what keeps pulling me back.
Else, don't worry about declining numbers as it says on the exit pole (yes when you cancle it lets you state why) sometimes you need to take a break, there is a reasion that CCP states that the average player account is 8 months, because life happens.
fly safe all, and for those watching the graph, on june 7th there will be 2 less Avatars playing but im sure some fresh blood will step up to take my places so don't sweat it.
