An interesting problem that IS NOT related to the libcrypto/libssl problems. With the change from Stretch/Sid to Buster/Sid I get a partial launcher start---window starts & at the bottom I see "Please wait". Nothing happens after that for as long as I have the window open. At no time will the launcher move to the "normal" login information. I do have access to the preferences in the right upper corner & can tick for login from there, but the launcher still will not start the client...I can also start loglite, but again nothing is displayed.
Terminal looks like:
dean@linux:~$ '/media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/evelauncher.sh' [0709/115902:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(291)] locale_file_path.empty() for locale Installed Qt WebEngine locales directory not found at location /media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/translations/qtwebengine_locales. Trying application directory... Qt WebEngine locales directory not found at location /media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/qtwebengine_locales. Trying fallback directory... Translations MAY NOT not be correct. [0709/115902:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(291)] locale_file_path.empty() for locale [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed. [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; unable to locate a running instance of Steam, or a local steamclient.so.
I have started the application with Steam running in the background with the only change being the last 2 lines do not show up.
I am "assuming" that this is from the qt fault---anyone else having this problem?

OK--It's not the qtwebengine that is at fault---I installed the same version that EVE uses on my system & created the folder translations/qtwebengine_locales. Installed all the available translations into it & tried a terminal start again. Still the partial launcher start.
Terminal only shows: dean@linux:~$ '/media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/evelauncher.sh' [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed. [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; unable to locate a running instance of Steam, or a local steamclient.so.
Of course, with Steam started--I get no comments during launcher start---just a partly operational launcher.

Those errors look normal to me you should post the last half of your
~/.local/share/CCP/EVE/Launcher/launcherlog*.txt
For the actual errors.
Also.. what video drivers are you using? If you just made the move to buster from say a year old testing mesa probably just destroyed your symlinks to fglrx/opengl libs...
That or somethings dumped qt? apt-get install qt5-default:i386 you may have Qt but not the libqt5gui stuff... think I saw an ubuntu user w/ that issue somewhere..
Good luck! |

Well--I tried the libgtk install--no dice. Found the xaudio2-7 thread & tried that--no dice...Looking like I can't post the complete logfile here (too long), but I don't see anything that stands out in it.....I'll find a way to post it.

Is all I see in mine so I have to wonder if you shouldn't try to delete the Qt cache at top there or maybe your using an old java version?

Hmmmm---I'm on Buster/Sid & keep things updated daily, so I don't think that java is out of date....I saw a couple of SSLv3 errors also--redid all my links to SSL on my system--tried rechecking/reinstalled all of the MS stuff---corefonts,etc,etc...no change. Really starting to run out of options. I'm starting to think I might rebuild/reinstall everything this coming weekend :(

FOUND IT........In the preferences I had set "beta" channel----changed that to "release" channel & the login window completely loaded. I'm going to try a login & see if everything else works.

Yes--It was the "beta" instead of "release" that was causing the launcher to only partly load.....Interesting.

I've moved to "DX11 with Dev Version" as it were and switching from release to development seems to make no difference not sure what that changes if you have the branch and wine version specified. Like we've got in this other thread:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=518531&find=unread
Did not expect it to work so easily quite impressed really. |

Try setting Windows version to XP in winecfg?
Also ttf-mscorefonts-installer.
A signature :o
