So what do you think? I was impressed, possible the best in the triology. I'm trying to remeber scenes that I did not like... but there is just not anyI can recall. I loved the scene where we first see Jack Sparow all crazy.

Agreed, kinda reminded me of Time Bandits and the big giant with the boat for a hat.
Was a good laugh anyway, now maybe I'll watch the second one...

I saw it with some friends a few hours ago. It was quite good, a good spectacle and i'm glad I saw it. A few things bothered me:
Calypso. What was the point of that?
What happened to the either of rest of the fleets, why was the entire battle decided by three ships?
Jack's insanity-inspired copies got a bit tiresome after a while.
Keira Knightley is really pretty, seriously. But she had so much fake tan on that she almost looked like she was CGI.
This film needed less Bloom and Knightley, and alot more Nighy and Rush. Bill Nighy was just utterly superb, he needs to win some award for his performance in these two films tbh. Likewise Geoffry Rush, absolutely outstanding.
Too many scenes of excessively filthy men roaring.

I am looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. I watched the second one but for some reason don't remember much about it (and I rarely forget anything in movies).
My main question though: how was Keith Richards?

Made me grin like an idiot
The film's awesome, best of the 3 easily. The entire cinema was ****ing (edit: laughing loudly) themselves for large sections of the film, funniest and most dramatic of the trilogy, which is never a bad mix

i agree with this tbh. the film was better than ok, but it was not really great. there was alot of things i didn't like, but i'm not going to spoil it too much for those that haven't seen it.
it would also have been good if the camera looked up Keira Knightley's dress that time they was in the pirate place thing.

I thought it was pretyt crap tbh :(
There was little to no storyline in the first half of the movie and those whole up = down and lets bring them back from the dead was...weird...what the heck was up with the ship being moved by a bunch of crabs?
Theres was too much disney in it tbh, I like a joke or 5 but they just tried too hard on occasion. Half of the movie I was sitting there like "wait...whats going on?" but it could just have been me.
If you're going to see it I really do suggest you watch part 2 again

Agreed. I still thought it was good, but not as good as the other two. It was less funny, but more "dramatic". That 40 minute (!!!) ship battle at the end just dragged and dragged, and was ridiculous ow the other fleets didn't get involved.
Thankfully Bloom got much less lines than in the other films, but Rush and Nighy were still criminally underused. Depp was still pretty good, but not as knock-your-socks-off as the other two films.
What REALLY bugged me was the whole Barbossa-comes-back-to-life thing. Not only did bringing him back seriously ruin the whole drama of Pirates 1, but it was then barely explained in about two lines. Not only that, but it was rife with inconsistencies; if Calypso could bring him back, why not Jack? Why was it "impossible" to bring Governor Swan back to life, like Elizabeth asked, if he'd just died exactly the same as Barbossa (shot or stabbed or some such)? It seemed like just a poorly thought out gimmick to get Rush back in it. I mean if they can't even handle a trilogy without plot holes, thats pretty poor.
Still good fun, though. --------

Hey! Moviegoers!
Make sure you stay until after the credits have stopped for the movie. There's something else there that happens, it's short, but worth seeing. |

It was already explained why Jack couldn't be brought back the same war Barbossa, basically Barbossa was actually killed while Jack was "taken" to a kind of hell. Not so sure about Govenor Swan though.
Definetly a great film for me.

I think Governer Swann 'could' be brought back from the dead, but it's right that he shouldn't because he was 'at peace'. I guess Barbossa wasn't at peace... or something.
