Imagine a parrelel universe, in which instead of the trinity engine upgrade, the CCP was working in a total overhaul in the way nodes where managed, one in which data bandwidth would allow thousands of players to take part in battles with no serverside lag....
In order to do this, everyone would be reset to day dot, noob corp, with 800k sp's.
Could you still continue to play eve? Sig removed lacks EVE content, email [email protected] if you have any questions - Xorus |

Id wake up and go awww another dream about eve, i need to go outside more. The server will never support thousands of players in a fight with no lag
However to answer your question, in both a reset and a 2nd server id simply quit eve. -----

New spin on the whole "let's start over" thing. But still the same answer: No, I wouldn't. I don't have years of SP like some, but I would be extremely annoyed to start over.

If CCP made a new server, would I go? Perhaps, on WoW (using it for refference bear with me) you can drop toons from old and starting to lag servers onto new ones coming online. So I would probably do it if I could pay to ship toons onto it and start anew (only skills, no standings or material wealth) along with a few thousand other people. Hell, CCP would probably plug the two dimensions into each other after a few years, citing a "major catastrophy in the general mish mish of space time" or the like....
Note to all, What I say may be infact of a more humorous tone than comes accross. |

I'd be ok with it but only with the following circumstances.
You keep your wallet (same for corps) You get to keep your assets by depositing those you want to keep into a special container that appears at every station and is tied to your account. (This container will be moved to your start station after the reset) (similar one for corp assets goes to the CEO's hanger)
Standings get wiped, lp's get wiped, one time missions get reset. POS's get blown up, Player stations wiped out. Everyone randomly scattered about high sec empire for the reset, to avoid instant market hubs. Sig removed as it lacks EVE-related content. Mail [email protected] if you have questions. -Hango

There is nothing wrong with EVE, and its not CCP's fault that people AFK float in Jita instead of docking or getting out. If the lag is so bad, find the system furthest away from the Jita node, and hide there. Bring as many friends as you can.

No . Why i spended almost 500 days building my char , i refuse to buy another one and such and tryed my bast to keep my char honorabile.
Another 500 days of training woud ruin EVE for me , for the ppl that invested over 4 Years in the game it woud be the worst nightmare ever. Think about it.

The worst part about Jita are all the #*&^@&*%^^%$ abandoned Ibises at the frickin' stargates.
If you want to improve Jita, remove the Concordokken penalty from empty newbie ships...

The enjoyment is the journey, not the destination.
That said, lag on EVE is like bubble for pallies on WOW. It just gives me a few extra seconds to contemplate my pending doom.

Could you still continue to play eve?
My answer?
Probably There'd be a level playing field, I kinda like the idea of for a few weeks, the biggest ships people would be PvP'ing in being frigates and cruisers... no POS warfare as there'd be no dread pilots... I'd be beautifull.
No, I'd probably leave. I've invested too much time, and I'm just breaking into capitals and all that stuff. Nah. Tho if I did stay, I'd play as Gallente :D

Why would you have to start over? If they were to do a node revamp, what does it have to do with the actual data on the database, that holds your skills and items and stuff? Why should they erase it and start over? I do not think one thing is related to the other. That would be the poorest design I would have ever seen, if everything were so interwined that their only choice was to do this.

Go to hell you mother****ing ***hole. You ain't gonna touch my assets1!!! Evil man!!!111!!!Yes this is a flame
On a more serious note - I would quit EVE - and all the veterans and the like would also leave. It'll be a noob's paradise.... then after a year new newbies come in and they'll be asking the same thing. Now - you'll probably be in our position, facing the crisis of losing all that you have worked for. ----------------------------------------------

God lets do it then if it'll get rid of Kaylana I'm in!!!
It's kind of a silly question though, because thered be no reason to have a character wipe if they redid the code base. Your character is just 2-3 pages of text in some database.
A more relevant question is: would you pay a month of subscription time if you couldn't log into the game for that entire month while they pulled everything down, plugged in new code, and got it back up again?

Thats a good question. I'm more a supporter of the whole development process and would support a massive revamp of the server if afterwards, significant changes to the infastructure were made. Sig removed lacks EVE content, email [email protected] if you have any questions - Xorus |

I have NO idea. I like the idea of everybody being on the same ground, giving all the vets a chance to see who would be best with an even start, but I don't like the idea of losing months upon months upon years of training. I don't imagine BoB would be to happy either. ------------------------------------------------- Attention Devs, for every isk you send me one member of your family will be returned safely.

no i wouldn't and couldn't accept if they did this, since there is NO reason that they couldn't transfer the amount of skillpoints you have into the new engine. this would mean they did a whipe for some other reason which i would not accept.
besides having to restart the whole game, i think i could figure another way to use my time then having to redo everything ___________________________________________ Humans take everything that is beautiful and sweet and turn it into something horrifying and ugly.

Only if Eve gave everyone back the money they spent on the game. Meaning subscription fees and etc. Maybe Game Time Cards equivalent to how much they actually spent on the game itself to play again. Then, and only then.
