So then. I think I might have a interesting idea here ...
A new weapon, energy missiles. This weapon would be closely related to missiles themselves, but require cap, and a Focusing Matrix to work. Ill start with small Energy missiles
Small Energy Missile Array RoF ------- 15 seconds Cap use --- 15 powergrid - 9 CPU use --- 20 Ammo room - 5m3 Fitting --- High slot Fresh from the Amarr design labs, the Energy missile array mimics a missile launcher, but by using a remote magnetic containment array. This technology allows the Amarr ships to fire off a 'missile like' burst of energy.
Focusing Matrices
Kinetic: size ------- 5m3 Cap use ---- +20% damage(kin)- 75 Flight time- 5sec Speed ------ 3,750 m/s
Explosive: Size ------- 5m3 Cap use ---- +40% Damage(exp)- 70 Flight time- 5sec Speed ------ 3,750 m/s
Thermal: Size ------- 5m3 Cap use ---- +0% Dmg(therm)-- 75 Flight time- 5sec Speed ------ 3,750 m/s
EM: Size ------- 5m3 Cap use ---- -20% Damage(em)-- 80 Flight time- 6sec Speed ------ 3750 m/s Standard focusing systems used by current laser technology allow an electromagnetic 'missile' to be maintained slightly longer than others. ok, that is what i have so far... medium launchers will have 10m3 size matrices, and large, 20. I seem to have missed the related skills :P The skills for these will be directly related to laser turrets. You need medium lasers trained to train medium energy missile launcher skills. Missile skills wont affect these at all. Someone keeps truncating my signature, I swear |

So, it is plasma in a field. Makes me think about the Starwars blasters & lightsabers, stuff in a mag field.
If it doesn't fly straight, how does it turn? Maybe it should fire ammunition that would be a field generator and directional system (opens holes in the field to vhange direction). The ammunition would me much smaller than a missile or an hybrid ammo because it is only a very small equipement (like the size of a tennis ball compared to a 200mm shell).
It should be a technology of Amarr-Caldari cooperation, as it's something between a laser, a missile launcher and a railgun (not blasters as a blaster chews the shell and sends the stuf to the ennemy - that's why it's short range).
The different kinds of damage are explained because different plasma types will either only make heat, explode, become solid stuff (kin) or just be pure energy (EM).
This sounds to me like a big step forward in hybrid tech, I want that in the T3 railguns! -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! Happy owner of a Vexor Navy Issue and few ishkurs. The Vexor Navy Issue is much more fun than the Myrmidon ! |

lol the whole point is that there is no ammo! It is controlled from the launcher itself, the launcher projects a magnetic field containing the energy, and then rams it into other ships.

nobody loves an idea that may potentially allow amarr to do damage to guristas rats? Pity. imo this would balance amarr in letting them do all damages... caldari + minmatar(to a point) get missiles, gallente get drones, but all the amarr get is em/thermal, plus minimal drone support. I like it, and a solution to the lack of damage types for Amarr ships is required.
I would like to see it as a high damage, low refire cap-sucking piece of kit, otherwise I can see thes becoming too powerful.

yes, yes, I see where you are going. The numbers are open for discussion, tweaking, ect, feel free to post ideas. perhaps something like...
RoF ----- 22.5 seconds Cap use - 30 (or 35 perhaps?)

This sounds somewhat like a Photon Torpedo from Star Trek..
If i'm understanding you correctly it a concentrated energy projectile that the weapon fires in a fashion similar to a missile?
Sounds good and it would certainly help give the Amarr a variety of damage which they currently lack. Biggest thing i see is that it may require stats similar to turrets to make it a viable alternative to the current lasers.

really like the idea.
to be inline with the backlstory its rof would have to be higher than its flgiht time even under best circumstances as you basically describe the launcher focusing a web-matrix to hold the plasma.
tbh this sounds perfectly suited for tec3 hybrid-technology (not hybrid weapons but hybrid between missile and laser).

I think they should do a mix of kinetic and explosive damage, and have matrix types that affect range and damage, like crystals do.
That way you've got to use either lasers or these, but can't replace the one with the other, and a mix would do mixed damage.

If you're lucky, you have a missile slot and enough room for some small drones to make up for the lack of damage types.
I see this with a velocity of around 500-1000m/s dependant on size (easy to evade), a refire rate of around 10-20 seconds based on size and a damage output roughly equivelant to that of missiles, but fitting into a gunnery slot.

I like the idea. Rockets, hvy Assault, and Torps are unguided too if i remember right so there shouldnt be a prob with the backstory.
Sounds really cool but the dmg should be the same on every damagetype. Or be lower therm and kin or i think it will be too strong.

I don't belive there should be missles related to amarr guns if anything it should be a new caldari thing but turrets u could have something like discs launchers that fire small rounds of discs that use turret points instead that contain small amounts of cap that cause more dmg like hybrids or amarr could have something like a turret that fires fragments of crystals that contain cap that explode this may seem like a stupid idea but i just belive that caldari is mainly missles gallente is mainly hybrids etc please be aware of the part that i have put in bold before people start saying things like "im minmitar and use missles blah blah blah" One of the main things about the races in EVE is the weapons they have and by giving other races other races weapons makes it been one race to another pointless the idea is good but not for amarr as i can see u want to improve the amarr arsenal

They need cap and an extra "something" to work, like guns do, but they're not guns. They emit a burst of energy like a smartbomb, but they're "energy missiles" not smartbombs. Right. I'm confused. What is the point of a weapon that's almost exactly like every other weapon in the game? Also, why does it use 20% of your cap? That's a lot of cap, are you sure that you didn't mean it gives a 20% reduction in your cap recharge rate per module? Do you realize that this is double what the cap recharge rate penalty of a t2 rocket launcher is?

a - the idea is that the amarr copied other technologies, and created this. b - It does not use 20% of your cap, that is the cap MODIFIER of the matrix in question. The launcher uses a base of 20 cap, and then the kinetic matrix required 20% MORE cap, to a total of 24 cap. c - there is no nerf to capacitor recharge. Someone keeps truncating my signature, I swear |
