Hi all. I will be moving into assault frigs within a week and have a question on assault frigs for PvP purposes.
By the look of fittings I like the 4 mid slots of the Caldari ships listed here. However, I know that most PvP'ers will prefer a Gallente ship to Caldari more often than not.
With the Ishkur having only 3 mids, would it still be preferred? And if so is this solely based on the 15m3 drone capacity of the Ishkur that both of the Caldari vessels completely lack?
Any other factors I need to consider before chosing a direction?

You forget the ishkur also gets +5m3 to its drone bay per level of assault ships, so at lvl 4, you have 35m3, aswell as an extra 40% to your guns range. Because of this, the ishkur is far more versatile, as it can be used at longer ranges than the other AFs and field plenty of drones. It's its drone use that's its key advantage, though, it just provides so much versatility compared to the other AFs.

With that 35m3 of drone space you can put in 2 med & 3 light drones increasing your DPS much higher than either of the Caldari AF.
I use the 3 mid slots on an Ishkur for an AB, Omni-Directional Tracking link, & Cap Recharger since you armor tank it instead of shield tanking as you would do with a caldari ship.

The Ish might have alot more dps than the other ships, but it isn't necessarily more versatile. The build suggested above leaves no room for tackling/ewar. I understand fitting an AB/MWD, but you also definitely need a warp scram and a web if possible. Considering you are essentially a drone boat, you should be able to get by without consuming too much cap. Just fit nos's on top.

nos will get you into web range (since its small nos you know) so rather put some railguns on (because of the range bonus one could figure this out on his own eventually) and stay out of range. let your drones do their job and your rails do some pew pew on top this should do. then mwd yourself aroud and everythings fine.
of course this requires you to have someone do the tackling but hey its an mmo and if you want to tackle get a interceptor ;-)

Aswell as the Ishkur, Enyo get a tracking bonus, which makes it ideal for shooting 'ceptors out of the sky without having to get near them.
